We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of a week in Sicily and it is easily our favourite place. It is a beautiful home and the rooms are lovely - comfortable beds and really good showers. The setting is stunning with views out over towards Etna, brooding and covered in snow. They are growing lots of their own produce and there are chicks and horses too. The meals were incredible - especially dinner. Four courses of antipasti, pasta, meat or fish and dessert - different each night, but equally delicious both times! I cannot recommend this place more highly - can't wait to come back!

We had a wonderful time at this rustic agriturismo, and enjoyed staying in the wine press room--well-described elsewhere--which had a lovely view of Mt. Etna. The room and bathroom were more than adequate, but the unique delights of La Rocca della Rosa lie in the warm, lovely welcome from Maria and Franz, the superb meals prepared by Maria's mother and the beautiful setting. Maria helped arrange a terrific hike up Mt. Etna for us with a local tour guide, arranged meals, provided delicious breakfasts--complete with their fresh eggs--and was unfazed by any request. She and Franz went above and beyond on our last day, extricating our car when we managed to drive it over a stone wall.

We were a group of 4 couples staying for 3 nights that happily treated to a delightful stay. We enjoyed lots of wine and their special olives every evening on the lower terrace. Maria and her new husband were still reeling from their wedding and yet may our stay special. Her mother helped make us a great meal The place is convenient to my etna and Syracuse for sight seeing. Highly recommend it

This is one of those places you read about in the travel pages but never seem able to find. I've given it a 5 star rating not for fancy facilities ( there aren't any! ), but for the sheer charm and wonderful hospitality on offer. I had a lovely room, cotto floors, wooden beams, a good bathroom. Furnished very traditionally with what I imagine are things belonging to the family for a long time. Comfy bed. Fresh roses and lilies from the garden in the bedroom and bathroom. Just delightful.
Almost all the food is produced on their own land and excellent. I had a delicious dinner here most evenings, cooked by Señora Matarrazzo. Maria and her fiancé Franz could not have been more helpful, even meeting me in Zafferana to guide me to the house.
I can' wait to visit again

Room Tip: Rooms in the main house have access to a large terrace, the others have a garden/ sitting area outsi...

We spent three nights La Rocca delle Rosa (in the room with the wine press) and loved it! Maria and her soon-to-be-husband Franz made us feel very welcome - as did the dogs. One evening we had a great home cooked dinner prepared by Maria´s mother, but the other nights we simply sat on the terrass eating cheeses, prociutto, salami, olives, bread and veggies we bought in a local shop. The carafe of local wine provided by the house was good and more than reasonable priced.
The family has lots of plans for the agriturismo and we would love to come back in a couple of years and see how it all turned out.
Not for those who look for spotless modern accommodation. This is a gem for those who cherish Sicilian hospitality in an authentic setting - with home cooked meals and fantastic views.
The location is good if you have a car - easy to go to Mt Etna, Taormina or Catania/Siracusa in the south.

We decided on the spur of the moment to go to Sicily. La Rocca della Rosa had a room available for 6 nights, and we really lucked out. The setting is amazing, with views of Mount Etna from the roof-top terrace, and from our bedroom window (we were fortunate enough to get the room with the old wine-press in it). Maria was very friendly and available whenever we had questions, and was very helpful with all sorts of recommendations. We ate (and drank copious amounts of local wine) there every night for a very reasonable price, outside in the courtyard under the trees, and were served seemingly endless courses of delicious fresh, local or homegrown food lovingly cooked by her mother. We couldn’t have done better at a fancy restaurant, and were spared driving home after dinner on the tortuous roads. This place is not for you if you don’t like animals (there are 3 friendly dogs) or nature, or if you want a fancy bedroom/bathroom, but we loved it and were very comfortable, and hope we have the opportunity to go back again.

Room Tip: ask for the room with the wine press, if available!

My jaw dropped when I was taken to our room with a huge, antique wine press--two stories tall--in it. The food was excellent and the tiers of agriculture were really interesting and a great stroll. One word of advice...get good directions and a full address for your GPS unit. Ours did not recognize the address on the website and it took a long time to find this gem.
