Seriously, I am not kidding! I think this is maybe the best place I've ever eaten at in the south of France. Great service, great atmosphere, great wine and boy... the food! The chef, Emily, is so gifted! plus, she is half American so she could explain everything so well to my friends. Thanks for a memorable evening! I can't wait to come back.

I could not recommend this little restaurant more highly. Food is excellent and wine is very well selected. Nothing disappoints. The menu is short but changes all the time. Some dishes are copious, others not. It all depends on what you desire on the day.

We booked a table for two here on a warm Friday evening in July. It's a new restaurant in Sauve and a good addition to the town's restaurants, right on the edge of its newly cobbled town square under the huge plane trees and looking over the lovely big fountain. It has a very laid back atmosphere provided by its pleasant owners/servers and it also has a chill out seating area with low tables. The menus are predominantly locally sourced, bio food and at first glance I wasn't too impressed, mainly because raw fish and Crudités, are not the sort of things I'm drawn towards. However after one of the servers pointed out that the additional dish for that evening was pork vindaloo it made my decision easy. We both ordered the curry and a plate of the mussels and another of foie gras mi cuit as starters. The mussels were wonderful, lots of tiny half mussels lined up in perfect rows, each one with a drop of delightful sauce. The foie gras was also pleasant. When the vindaloo arrived I was surprised that it was served in one of those huge plates with a very small recessed dish in the centre and all the pork, sauce and served in one small pile. Initially it looked too small a portion but I suppose it was enough food for me but not necessarily for people with more robust appetites. The biggest issue I have is that it was sold to me as vindaloo, but having eaten versions of vindaloo around the world (including Goa where it was invented) this was not a recognisable vindaloo. Yes it had plenty of pleasant spicy flavour, but what it lacked was any of the fiery heat which vindaloos usually have. Anyway, that aside, it was a nice evening and the white Pic St Loup wine we had with it suited the meal

Wonderfully situated in a medieval square, Au Bon Jaja is a great place to have a meal. The 80, mainly local wines are delicious and a perfect accompaniment to the great dishes available, all of which are sourced locally and of the highest quality.
Already getting a reputation for the fantastic foie gras.
You can order in English and French as the owner is bilingual, (she also speaks Spanish and some Japanese).
