“Reasonable Hotel with Excellent Views”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

Stayed here for another overnight stay on our way to Italy. Rather strange looking hotel in a lovely situation overlooking the Rhine. Although the room we were given was large with a reasonable sized balcony overlooking the river, the hotel has probably seen better days and could do with a face-lift. Rather dark panelling to the ceilings made the place feel rather gloomy. Dinner was a disaster. We went to eat at about 8pm and had the choice of either the buffet or a la carte, so we opted for the buffet. However, when we went to serve ourselves there was hardly anything left and the offerings were dried up and totally unappetising. Probably best avoided!
Breakfast was entirely different - there was so much choice it was unbelievable. Even bottles of Prosecco if you wanted a drink!
If we stayed again, which is doubtful - we'd eat dinner elsewhere.
The town is very charming and well worth spending some time looking around.

We stayed here as part of a coach holiday. Although the hotel generally was clean the staff were unfriendly towards us as a whole. The food was barely warm and they run out a lot of the time and people were kept waiting 40 minutes for the next lot to be cooked. When drinks were ordered from the bar sometimes they came sometimes not at all, would never stay there again.

This Hotel holds a magnificent position overlooking the Rine very peaceful and next to an Abbey, yet within walking distance of a very pretty town. The rooms were excellent with Balconies where you could sit and enjoy the view of the river and watch the passing ships. The breakfast and dinner were buffet style and the English were well catered for includind a full English breakfast. The Hotel had an indoor swimming pool and hot tub.

Room Tip: Get one overlooking the Rine which has the sun in the afternoon.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel as part of a Black Forest tour. The roo ms were clean and comfortable. There was an ashtray and matches in the rooms but NO smoke detectors! We were in room 429, had there been a fire on the corridor we would have had to go on to the fire escape next to our room which was a balcony about 3ft square with no means of going anywhere! Nice terrace off the dining room for evening drinks but the fire escape there was dangerous - a child could have fallen through the rails and it was a narrow spiral staircase down again with the possibility of a child falling through. The pool was lovely but the floor tiles were so slippy. Food was hit and miss - never enough on the buffet resulting in long waits for the containers to be re-stocked. One night there was just 10 potato croquettes and we were a party of 40. Buy wine at reception to drink in your room or on the terrace up to 8pm - much cheaper than bar prices

It is certainly a strange hotel. Very large. I wasn't impressed that the restaurant is not open for 3 days of the week. Breakfast is ok. The swimming pool is very nice as long as its not busy.
No real bar which is a shame. You have to pay for wifi which I still get annoyed about in hotels.
It was clean and tidy but indeed needs a refresh.

We stayed at the Hotel with a large group (30+) for 3 nights. The rooms are very large with a nice bathroom. the booked the conference offer with a large conference room, drinks, coffee, lunch and dinner. The food was always excellent and the enjoyed it very much. Some small mistakes with the booking are not big issues and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
The only drawback is that the hotel looks a bit old and the carpet is used. However, it is a good place for a workshop or conference.

The room was large and clean but seems to need some updating as the furniture was a little musty and outdated but comfortable. The location allowed us to walk throughout the town and offered a fantastic view.
