Chez Lelette was recommended by someone who lives in Deshaies, so we went expecting a good meal. There may have been a single woman both taking orders and cooking; I couldn't be sure. Regardless, getting our order taken, getting drinks, and getting served were painfully slow. Certain other restaurants also had somewhat slow service, but this was by far the slowest. But we had high hopes for the fish...and accras. And they were just OK. Not bad, but not especially great. Definitely not as good (not as much flavor, not as well seasoned) as Le Coin Des Pecheurs (which we ate at twice). Also, the woman taking orders (maybe the owner?) was somewhat abrupt and sort of shouted at the diners. Not a terrible restaurant, but you can find better on the same small street in Deshaies "bourg."

Relax and enjoy the beach position. This was our favourite place because it felt truly local with home cooking. Be prepared for a long wait! We just did not care how long it took! The food is worth the wait!! Not fancy but really tasty and plenty of it. It is a good idea to order everything you want straightaway so that your order gets in asap. Then relax and enjoy the atmosphere. We watched local fishermen cooking their catch! You could watch the BBQ!! All the staff are lovely - we made sure that we showed our appreciation of the tasty meals!! Making friends of them all. One family had it right - they played cards whilst waiting for their meal - keeping their children entertained!!

Overlook the bay, some tables and chairs on the sand, owned, run and food cooked by locals, proper Creole Gwada style food, no messing about! Very good value menu du jour, fish & colombo dishes very good, oassaux grilled on charcoal are tops, drink planteur - forget wine it doesn't go! Service much better than last year - still relaxed Caribbean pace - time to enjoy the ambience, view & your planteur! Good people doing a good job at an honest price - try it out!

The major asset of this very simple restaurant is it's location by the sea next to the port. The tables are sea-side and the view is great.
The atmosphere is very simple. We found the fact that chicken are running freely between the tables and on empty tables disgusting rather than charming, especially as the women supposed to be working here are just as slow in cleaning up the tables as they are in taking your orders and bringing drinks and food.
But they aren't only slow, they are also highly unprofessional and don't bother at least to try to make up for that by being friendly: one of the ladies was chasing away a chicken from one of the other tables (people had left but plates had not been taken away, no wonder the chicken came onto the table) and the startled creature flew a couple of metres and landed directly on a table next to ours where people - after a lengthy wait - had just received their main dishes! To add insult to injury, the waitress responsible for this incident didn't even bother to actually move over to the affected table and try to make up for the disgusting incident and dirty clothes (the size of the tables and dishes left the chicken no choice but to land on a full plate). She was just shaking her head and moving back to the kitchen. Needless to say the unbelieving guests next to us left immediately in the middle of their meal. Needless to say too that their devastated dished remained on their table for another 20 minutes. The chicken won.
As to our own meal: had it not been for the sanitary problems described above, the long wait wouldn't have bothered us as much, given the lovely setting. The dishes themselves were just okay, the price for a lunch menu (aperitif, salad, dish and dessert) of around 16,- therefore not as good value as it first seemed. About ten minutes after having ordered two portions of pineapple as desserts (included in our lunch menu) I was told that the check is to be paid at the entrance. When I enquired about our desserts, I was told that I had been asked before and that I had declined to have any desserts.
Graciously, we still got our desserts but it took a bit longer than expected as the whole crew was already sitting on the nicest table by the sea, undeservedly rewarding themselves for the done work.
With a bit of luck and rum, you probably can have a nice dining experience here, keeping focused on the view rather than on anything else, but in order to avoid the chance of a bad experiece, my advice is to absolutely stay away of this place!

I cannot say bad word about this place. We enjoyed the food and the seaside view. The only problem is that it took us 2.5h to eat simple lunch incl. 45 min of waiting for dessert.Maybe this is just wrong impression of european Guy who lives always in hurry.
