“Not even worth one star”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

Avoid this place like the plague. The service was unfriendly and SLOOOOOOOOW, even though the restaurant was way less than half full. Friends from the ship said they had to wait an hour to get their meal and the wine never did arrive until they were finished. It took 15 minutes to get our menus and some considerable time later we asked to have our order taken as the waitress ambled past. She said she would be back in five minutes! So we left and went to La Savane just down the street for a very different experience. As we left she said nothing and simply did not seem to care. Perhaps she was happy to have two less people to serve (although looking happy was probably beyond her capabilities).

“A perfect beach restaurant”
Reviewed March 4, 2010

We thought we were being REALLY clever when we showed up at the beach at 10 and made reservations at Chez Liline for 12:30. After 2½ hours on the gorgeous beach (see picture) we waltzed the 100 meters over to the restaurant only to find that ours was the ONLY table which wasn't occupied. The smart people showed up at noon on the dot and, as Liline's wait staff is very democratic - orders are taken in the order you show up and cooked and served accordingly - we were in for a long wait as there were about 100 other patrons.
The ladies in my party - The Daughter and The Teenager - used the opportunity to hit the toilets for a freshen up and I fell in to a conversation with a gentlemen originally from Cameroon who was sitting at the next table - you sit pretty close together there. As my French is limited to "getting a room French," "asking directions French," and "ordering a meal French," the conversation was pleasant but limited until The Daughter who is fluent reappeared.
The menu was limited but had everything we needed - regular old chicken for The Teenager (€7), a chicken colombo - colombo being an Antillean spice - for The Daughter (€8) and a Chatrou Fricasee - octopus stew to you - (€9) for me. The meals arrived fairly promptly accompanied by rice and heapings of fresh vegetables.
My octopus was plentiful, tender and in a delicious sauce. It was a challenge to finish the portion I received but I managed to accomplish the mission. The Daughter was more than satisfied with her colombo while The Teenager wolfed her "plain old" chicken down. Unbeatable value for money.
All this was done while surrounded by swaying palms and convivial conversation.
Liline herself is in the open kitchen ably assisted by her two helpers.
Cash only.
As this is by far the best and most popular restaurant on this beach: get there at noon if you don't want to wait an hour and a half for your food.
