Hotel Framnes happens to be located in a quite an odd place - although an excellent view of the water and docks, the area around it is very industrial and currently under construction. It makes for a difficult find in an area that looks like it would be home to factories and ship yards (and probably is).
However, the building itself is quite cozy. Fairly dated in appearance, it makes up for it with a polite staff and quaint rooms. Our room happened to be a little too quaint for our liking - it was a tight fit for 2 people with a lot of luggage, especially with a slanting roof. Moreover, neither of us felt confident stepping into the shower cubicle which had such small doors it felt like a tripping hazard. Also, my back almost gave out dragging our suitcases since our room was located on the top floor but there is no elevator - only a narrow and curving staircase.
The breakfast provided to us was excellent, and the hotel is a very short drive from Kirkjufell (we were able to drive there in 5 minutes and capture the Aurora before it vanished). The staff is also very polite. There are tons of cafes that are only a 5-10 minute walk away.
However, I feel like the only reason I had a sound sleep here was because I was absolutely exhausted. It was a pleasant stay but not the best.
