Just spent 3 nights at Chateau Valcreuse and it was a truly lovely experience. Alexender and Caroline are the most wonderful hosts and as soon as we entered the chateau they made us feel very welcome and at home. The chateau is an absolutely beautiful building with fabulously tasteful furnishings and fittings - stylist but extremely comfortable and has such a relaxed atmosphere that you feel at home immediately! They are charming hosts and immediately made us feel very welcome in their home and everything from the welcoming pot of tea to ensuring we were seated next to guests whom we could speak to in English and have a laugh with at dinner was wonderful. Dinner is a communal affair commencing with aperitifs in the lounge and then onto the lovely dining room (normally they eat outside but the weather was a bit on the cold side when we were there).Whilst the table d'hote menu and wine is a bit on the expensive side the dinner on both nights we ate there was amazing and well worth it - they try to create a country house atmosphere and do so very successfully.
