“It's good to be the Khan”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

Although not large the decorations on the walls and ceilings are beautiful and the huge stained glass windows, made entirely without nails or glue, are amazing.

“good but nothing special”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

Since it is the only official site of Sheki you will not avoid it. It is not bad to see it but donr expect Grand Palais. A simple oriental villa with the usual decoration

“Don't miss it!”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

Really amazing, paintings on wooden walls inside are so vivid and impressing. Taking pictures is not allowed but your mind will hardly forget these views

“Restored palace of major ruler”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

An unusual and elegant building. No English spoken when I went, except "No photos indoors," which I always regret. Search out the older palace, Khan Evi, using an all-Azerbaijan guide to find it!

“Moderately interesting 18th century local ruler's house”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

Within the walls of the 'citadel' of Sheki are a number of buildings. A round 19th C Russian church (built on much older foundations) houses a modern craft shop/museum, and elsewhere there is a bookshop/museum. The main sight is the 18th C pavillion that was one of the residences of the 18th C rulers of Sheki, lovingly (over)-restored in recent times. As well as the rather discordantly colourful decoration, the highlight is the 18th C frieze depicting the local ruler's military victory in the 1740s against the Persian empire. Fascinating.
