Just returned from 3 weeks at the Lefktron and would reccommend it to anyone seeking a relaxing holiday,Not much to do in Stoupa apart from enjoy the stunning scenery (particularly the sunsets). The hotel boasts recently re-vamped bathrooms which are amongst the best i have used in Greece but on the downside i found the beds very hard and the cabinets and drawers fitted where they touched. all in all the staff are all very friendly and the breakfast buffet offered a wide choice of breads, fruits and pastries. With a nice pool with plenty of sunbeds this hotel is well worth a visit.

Room Tip: 216 is an upstairs room on the end which overlooks the pool.

A very well run hotel, with very friendly owners who greet you on arrival. the hallways are pleasntly decorated and well lit. The rooms are clean and brightly decorated with ample storage space. The toilet/shower room are especially good with modern fittings and and a shower head that actually has it's riser stand intact and working as it should !, plenty of hot water and a decent fridge , also comes with safe and air conditioning (small charge) which worked well. The breakfast was served in a small area outside/inside at the rear of the hotel. A comfortable bar area is also availble with a friendly bar attendant on hand who loves to chat to the guests.
The location of the Hotel is approx' in the middle of Stoupa about 3mins walk up a lane in prime position for all the amenities bars/tavenas etc.
A vert pleasant holiday stay in a gtreat hotel and location. A big thank you to Maria her family and all the staff who made sure the stay at the lefktron was a memorable one.

Room Tip: The front rooms overlooking the pool are facing the lane with the odd car or so passing, the rear (w...

We had two weeks at this hotel late August early September. When we arrived we enquired re air conditioning ( a must in 90+ heat) it cost us an extra 84 euros for this basic facility plus 14 euros for the safe in the room. So we started off with almost a hundred euros expense before getting out into the resort. On arriving at our room it was the size of a shoebox and basic 1 star to say the least, the bathroom however had been recently refurbished and was fine, why they didn't do both at the same time is beyond me. I have to say the the room itself was spotless and we found that it was cleaned daily and the bed linen and towels were changed every other day. The hotel was probably half English and half Greek and they probably got the best rooms. The breakfast area, outside looking at the mountains was lovely as was the usual Greek breakfast fare. The lovely multi lingual girl who waited was superb as was Maria in reception. Other then the moans at the start altogether a decent experience. For a couple whose clubbing days are a distant memory Stoupa is brilliant, good beach + Kalogria beach next door, warm clear sea and swim with the fishes. Enough decent eating experiences and finally and most important, hooray no disco bars and NO EMBARASSING BRIT DRUNKS.

Room Tip: Get a Greek postcode!

Hotel Lefktron is a very basic B+B well positioned circa 750 yards from the beach at Stoupa.
The place is spotlessly clean and looks like it has had a recent refurbishment. Everything is well kept.
Rooms - Compact with very high ceilings and loads of cupboard space. Bathrooms are small but well equipped. Sheets etc changed every couple of days. One negative is that the beds are on the hard side.
Pool area - Lovely. A good place to stay all day or just to take a dip after the walk from the beach.
Breakfast - Continental but a good choice and although the content is mainly the same there are small differences on a daily basis. Perfectly adequate and beats doing your own every day.

No hesitation in recommending

Room Tip: 101 / 103 have sea views. Even numbers look out over the swimming pool with odd numbers looking out...

Recently returned from a VERY hot Stoupa. (40 C on each of the last 3 days). But despite the oppressive heat Stoupa was just great. Fabulous food in Liastres, Yesterday and Today, nice warm welcome in Mango bar and elsewhere, fabulous beaches etc etc etc.

Only disappointment was the Lefktron hotel. Other users have talked of the warm welcome, but the greeting we got was "one passport per room" and that was it! The key was plonked on the counter with some barked directions and not a pleasantry in sight. Warm it wasn't. The room too was disappointing(Room 105). It was OK - fantastic shower room actually - but a lick of paint on the wardrobe doors and a couple of pictures would make so much difference. Completely bare walls in room 105. Shame really, because a smidge more effort and it could be a really lovely place. The breakfast area was nice, bar and pool area good too and in a great position.

Would go back to Stoupa in a flash - but it won't be to the Lefktron.

Having just got back (well, seven days ago) from two weeks in Greece it seems like a good idea to share a few impressions.
First of all, the Leftktron Hotel lived up to most of the positive reviews on this site. The linen is changed regularly and the whole place is very clean, Our room was small, but more than adequate, with pretty comfortable beds and a good shower. There's a TV if you want to catch up with the news. In fact, we were ideally located at the end of a ground floor corridor, which meant we only had to step outside to be a few paces away from either the breakfast area or the swimming pool. Breakfast is served as a buffet in the garden and there is a good selection of fruit, breads, cheese, cereals etc (oh, and meat for those who need it). A delightfully friendly waitress brings you very good coffee.
The pool is good (and my son spent many hours in it) with a small bar serving beer, frappe, soft drinks and snacks at reasonable prices. We didn't spend every day there, but it was pleasant to sit reading in the shade and there are, also, plenty of comfortable loungers alongside the pool.
The Lefktron also has an indoor bar, where my sixteen year old son humiliated me at backgammon most evenings, and the guy who looked after the bar was never less than friendly and engaging. Indeed, the staff at The Lefktron were all helpful and considerate, which is how I generally find Greek people to be.
In addition, the hotel is situated about five minutes from the beach. Stoupa is very small (which I like) and you can walk around most of it in a short time. This is well worth doing, just to get your local bearings and to see the new church which is still under construction. It looks like quite a delightful building, but a lot of the locals think it is unnecessary considering the existence of a smaller church right next door. A new church is considered to give status to a town or village, but the people I spoke to thought there were other things that the money should be spent on - particularly in the currently difficult economic circumstances.
Along the sea front there are numerous taverna. We ate in quite a few and I would say that the food was always good. The Pefko Taverna at one end of the front, and the Stoupa Restaurant at the other, were both especially good and offered splendid views across the sea. (If you like a Greek salad, by the way, try it with sea fennel at the Stoupa Restaurant!)
My son is always keen to eat pizza (even in Greece) and when he discovered that the Rodi Italian restaurant had a wood-burning oven he insisted we eat there. The pizza was excellent! I had the Pizza Greca (with feta) and it was probably as good as anything I've had in Italy; the garlic mushrooms were. also, delicious. I recommend it.
We travelled with Olympic and took advantage of a few organised trips. An overnight stay in Athens was excellent; quite a long journey, but on a comfortable coach. The guides were great and Athens was lovely. No photograph nor description can do justice to the glorious reality of the Acropolis - and the New Acropolis Museum is fantastic. We stayed in a small hotel (the Katerina), which is close to the centre of Athens and right across the road from a Metro station. The Athens Metro is very easy to use, as well as being shiny clean and a pleasure to experience. You can also travel as much as you like on a 24 hour ticket for 4 Euros.
We took two other trips, both of which I'd recommend: to the Byzantine city of Mystras and to Olympia. Both trips take you through the breathtaking countryside of the Mani, with its dark green mountains and plunging gorges, which more or less makes the trips worthwhile in itself. I admit that I'm a pushover for history (especially ancient history) and, if you happen to share that, both of these trips are quite essential. Mystras is full of scarcely concealed treasures (like the wall paintings still to be seen in several ruined churches) and, although there is a fair bit of walking on not very even surfaces, not to be missed.
Olympia is quite overwhelming. We happened to be there on the opening day of the London Olympics, which I suppose gave the trip an added buzz, but the whole place is stunning and if you have any interest in history I would say go there if you do nothing else. (That said, how could you not take the chance to visit Athens?)
I got the impression that the holiday trade was not quite as vibrant, due to the economic crisis, as in previous years and many prices seemed to be a bit lower than I recall. Bearing in mind that 60% of the Greek population live in Athens and Thessaloniki, however, the real awfulness of cuts, privatisation and austerity are not to be seen in places like Stoupa.
I love Greece and would certainly revisit Stoupa. If I do go back I won't hesitate to stay at The Lefktron.

We stayed at Lefktron Hotel during mid-July. The hotel was located very near the beach (5 minute stroll), and had a very handy parking lot across the street. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room (2-bed), while not spacious, was good enough for your basic sleep (with the AC, which was not extra charged in our case). The beds were neither soft or hard and I felt quite refreshed every morning.
The bathroom seemed to have been renovated, with a shower cubicle (no more water all over the place) and was spotless clean.
Breakfast had a reasonable selection of stuff, that was served outside, under a shaded patio.
The swimming pool is not very large or deep ( up to 1,8m), but is great for taking an evening swim without the hassle of the beach. A pool bar is available, so you can enjoy a refreshment or coffee while taking a dip.
TV is old and small (14") and the fridge that was in the room was rather old. If yours is not cooling enough, tell the manager, he has a trick to fix it in a jiffy.
