“lovely place and people”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

the rooms are in a lovely well cared for garden- just ten minutes from beach by lots of different small roads. main Kalamata road and good bakery nearby and supermarket just top of road and onto main road. All clean -fridge, kettle, toaster and rings were fine if you wanted to make breakfast. Room basic but space in wardrobe and dressing table etc. and all have different types terraces and balconies -our shady one fine for breakfast and view of mountains in distance. A/C fine 7 euros a night. Best thing about it is the Zerva family - mother and daughters so helpful and pleasant and little dog is friendly. They are on site so will help if they are needed and the cleaner is lovely too. Would recommend this place.

Room Tip: all quiet only really saw our's

lovely little place to stay. rooms are cleaned every day and the few people who work there are very polite, one of them even cooked all the guests an apple pie one day! there is no pool but it's only 5-10 minutes walk to the beach. there was a little bar area but it's not used, we called in at the Lefktron Hotel bar every evening and they were very welcoming and did some great cocktails, the bar man is a good character too! all in all the zervas apartments are a great place to stay for the price we paid and i'd go back any day!

these studios are lovely set in lovely gardens and so peaceful. we got room 7 which was so private. they are spotlessly clean with bedding and towels changed often by the friendly cleaning lady. the owners are also freindly.A kettle and toaster which is most unusual for greece. I would not hesitate to reccommend these studios. We even had a couple of nights in sitting in the peace of the gardens bottle of wine and grek food deliverded to the door. Stoupa is a nice resort good beaches and some wonderful tavernas at reasonable prices. there is not much to choose between them all most are excellent. we only had 1 bad meal at whwt they call Piggies The Butchers. the meal was poor service bad and then tried to charge 5 euros for the music!!!.All in all not much else we can fault about the place. do try and go to Ag Nic very pretty and if you dont fancy the long walk there is a good bus service.

Room Tip: room 7 private

We stayed in Zervas for the last two weeks in August, and found them spacious and peaceful. I have put plenty of photos on which will hopefully show the layout of our apartment (no. 3), but please bear in mind each apartment is slightly different.
The property is on the road between the main road that runs parallel to the coast and Stoupa itself. There is a bakery at the top of this road (and the bus stops), which is literally only 100 paces away, a very good supermarket is less than 5 minutes along the main road, and under 5 minutes gentle strolling to the beach. Slight incline on the return but nothing too strenuous, and if you take the path between Katerina’s mini market on the front and the car park just before the Stoupa hotel it is mostly shady.
All of the six (Thomas Cook/Manos) studios & apartments are on the ground floor, albeit with two steps up to the front doors. (nb the brochure shows this as a single storey building but there is a first floor too). There is a gravel drive leading up from the road, with a pleasant garden on the left and a slightly decrepit looking bar area on the right that didn’t appear to have been used for some considerable time. I believe the separate building on the right is a studio; the two doors on the far right of the main building numbers 1 & 6 are, I think one bed apartments sleeping 2; the remaining apartments (numbered 2, 3, 4 & 5 running from right to left) are one bedroom apartments sleeping 4.
In apartment 3 the front door opens on to the main room that contained a double bed, kitchenette, wardrobe, bench type sofa, table, dressing table, bedside tables and three dining chairs. The separate bedroom had two single beds and a bedside table, (and the back door). The bathroom was typically Greek with a handheld shower and a good supply of hot water, although the pressure was dependent on who else was using it at the time. In the kitchen area there were two electric rings which we didn’t use, and a fridge with ice box, plus a much better selection of cutlery, crockery and utensils etc then we expected. As well as being good sized rooms, there were also “extras” such as a decent electric kettle and toaster, washing up liquid & sponge/scourer, loo roll (replenished throughout stay), mop & bucket, broom & dustpan, washing up size bowl, and a larger size plastic bowl ideal for washing clothes / beach stuff etc, and a clothes airer with pegs. On arrival there was a large bottle of water in the fridge, together with a few tea bags, coffee and sugar sachets, and a couple of small soap bars. Everything was clean, bins were emptied daily and linen changed twice a week.
There were air conditioning units in both rooms, the cost was 7 euros per night for one unit, or 6 euros per unit for the two – the maid will collect payment a day or two before you leave. If you’re happy to sleep with the back and front shutters open you may not need it as there was generally a nice breeze blowing through.
The one negative aspect of the apartments (apart from uncomfortable beds!) was the outside space. The Manos brochure stated that there was a shared terrace area, and I had assumed this was one long area and you would “occupy” the part in front of your apartment. In fact numbers 1 & 6 had a very small private terrace at the front. Numbers 2 & 5 had a large private patio area to the rear (full sun with no shade). Numbers 3 & 4 had a (constantly) shaded patio area to the front, screened from each other, but numbers 2 & 5 respectively had access across the patio to their front door. Fortunately we had nice neighbours on that side so it wasn’t a problem for us. It probably would have been enough to put me off booking if I’d known though. Along the back of the properties was an open passageway linking the rear patios at either end – the middle apartments (3 & 4) had a back door on to this so it was possible to leave the clothes airer etc out. Each apartment had a patio table and chairs.
Overall, very nice apartments in a convenient location.

Room Tip: Apartments 2 & 5 have full sun patios, 3 & 4 have full shade.

We don't believe in spending a king's ransom for somewhere that we will mainly just be sleeping in. Zervas seemed to meet our needs even though some earlier reviews almost put us off. We stayed in Room 1 which is basically a small apartment, with a seperate large kitchen with table and chairs. The kitchen and bathroom had obviously been recently updated, still the basic 2 rings for any cooking though if you should wish to!
The bins were emptied daily which was superb and the bedding towels changed twice weekly. the only day the bins won't be emptied is on the maids day off. The place was very clean.
The grounds do have a few sun loungers(4) should you wish to stay close to your room.
The drive is gravelled and level, no potholes. Although you will read that parking is available, it is very restricted. If more than one room hires a car plus the owners cars(2) and any visitors they may have, you have a traffic jam!
Zervas is situated quite close to the main road, though there is no constant traffic noise from it. Just by the junction is the local bakery, so just a couple of minutes if that away. A large supermarket is less than 5 minutes walk away on the main road which stocks everything you could possibly need.
You are further away from the beach than the place appears on many maps. It isn't too far though and most people will get to the front in less than 15 minutes.

Just returned from 7 days of pure chilling at the Zervas appartments and Studios Stoupa.
We had room 7, you get what you pay for a basic studio with twin beds, fridge walk in shower and two ring hob. Thats all we wanted as its so cheap to eat out. The set up at Zervas is 6 appartments and two small studios, so not busy at all. The gardens are well looked after by a young lady who also does a towel change and clean up midweek. The only negative comment is that the beds are a bit hard, so we used a couple of duvets that were in the wardrobe to soften them a bit.
As a base for Stoupa, perfect. About a 4 minute walk to the beach,Tavernas and restaurants. They stay open very late.Which is good as it stays very hot till well into the evening, so eating out at 8pm or later is good with the sea breeze.
Local wine is very cheap at 2 euros 50 for 500ml, a large beer varies from 1 euro 50 to 2 euro 50. Dondoni's Taverna at the southern end of Stoupa beach does a good local white wine and the beer is a good greek one. At that end there are some good restaurants. Our favourite was Akpotiani opposite Pefco retaurant. Could not fault anything, and the views at sunset are beautiful. There are a few trips available with the tour operators, but my advice is to hire a car and do it yourself, as youll find its a lot cheaper. Messini ruins, diros caves and Mystras are well worth visiting and of course Olympia, but get there early as the temperatures can make it uncomaftable walking around. Temperature average for our visit to Stoupa 7th July to 14th was 31c to 35c
Have attached some pics of Zervas and Stoupa

Just back from two weeks at Zervas in Stoupa, Travelled on the 12th May, it was our second visit to Stoupa stayed at Marcos last year. I would recommend this accommodation, there is a total of seven units, two studios and five one bedroomed apartments set in a lawned garden area. Six of the apartments are set next to each other with one of the studios as a separate building, we looked at all the accommodation during our stay and the one bedroom apartments are all quite similar, the separate studio is a little smaller than the one with the apartments. The owners live upstairs and were very friendly and helpful, she has a small dog which is often wandering around the garden area, the rooms were cleaned in the middle of the week by a lady who is there every day and looks after the gardens etc. If you are staying in apartment number 6 as we did then you will get a strong wifi signal from the owners apartment upstairs, the signal can also be picked up in the garden albeit a bit patchy!, the tv is pretty useless as it only picks up a couple of greek channels so don't rely on this if you wish to keep in touch with the news, you are on holiday after all.We found the apartment to be comfortable, kitchen area had fridge, two rings, kettle and toaster, they provide tea towel, washing up liquid, scourer and j cloth. On arrival there will be a bottle of water in the fridge and some coffee sachets, tea bags and sugar to get you started. We slept better in this location as there are no nearby Cockerels, people who have stayed in the more rural locations of stoupa will probably know what that's like! A few changes in resort compared to last year in terms of tavernas and bars but overall just as good and we found it to be quieter due to Gatwick flights not being operational until the 26th of May. Flew with Thomas cook and the plane had films both ways, I presume this was due to it being a 757,dont know if this type of plane will be used on this route all season.
