When we arrived at sandy glade my first impression was OMG what have we done!! number one it was so quite. i mean i understand it was low season but it was like a ghost town..no where was open to be honest and really really quite..we finally found the reception area to check in..wich was situated in the bar area...which just stunk!! the colour scheme was just depressing and dull!! eventually we finally got our keys too the chalet and it was horrible..it stunk of stale smoke just awful! the TV didnt work..the fridge wasnt far behind it we just couldnt believe it!! And then we got to the bathroom wich you couldnt even call it that..the bath wasnt even a bath it could only proberly fit my 3 year old..and to make matters worse when i did finally have a shower the hot water didnt last more then 5 minutes then we had too wait again for it too heat up wich took about 30minutes...Our plan was too cook all our own stuff in the chalet but to be honest we didnt want ti use the cutlery, plates etc... because of the filthy chalet so we decided too go to the 'chefs corner' which is located on the site..now what can i say about everything is DEEP FAT FRIED!! and want very tasty at all!! i wouldnt recommend only if you was desperate and hungry. But the plus sides to our holiday was the pool and the entertainment team (Aarron and Gareth) who were BRILLIANT and really made an effort for us! and was brilliant with the kids, my little boy loved the entertainment and 'freddy the fox' so thats all that mattered. And the pool was really nice. the only down sides to the pool was that you had too have a code to get in..and if you forgot it the lifeguards wouldnt bother too let you in! and they should off had the door open between the pool and bar open so you could easily go and get a drink! but no you have too walk all around to get too the bar...The holiday park is situated right on the sea front ( you have too walk down some steep sandy hills) but that was good. We didnt spend alot time in the holiday park we went out on day trips etc...I think it would of drove me mad if i had too stay in that park everyday. Ovcrall i would go back to a John Fowler holiday park but Never that one. we could wait too leave!

Our arrival at Sandy Glade was like stepping into a 70s timewarp. Our chalet was absolutely filthy, so much so that our feet were black within 20 minues of walking on the carpet. The chalet was "furnished" with cheap, 70s furniture and was in a state of complete disrepair. The "sofabed" was basically two tiny plastic sofa backs and was easily the most uncomfortable thing we have ever slept on. On complaining the next morning, the receptionist simply handed us keys for a different chalet and told us we were the third people to complain that morning! Not a good advert for their park. The second chalet was marginally cleaner, however, it was situated on the main route through the park just along from the clubhouse and so was extremely noisy until the early hours of the morning, and this coupled with the groups of teenagers hanging around the playground at the back of the chalet made sleep very difficult. In the end we cut our holiday short - losing money was preferable to staying there a moment longer.

On arrival we were disappointed at both the appearance and the smell of the chalet. I agree with your earlier reviewer it really did smell musty together with stale smoke.
But it was a late booking so we were prepared to grin and bear it. Before dinner we decided to have a drink in the bar, the beer was not the best we've ever tasted to say the least. The young girl behind the bar was kept very busy doubling as receptionist and bingo ticket seller and barmaid. It must be said she did a grand job.
Nevermind we did go to another bar in Brean and carried on with our holiday. There were some youngsters in the chalets behind us (came down for T4 in Weston) there was some noise on the Saturday night, but on the Sunday night things were totally out of control. Security did attend but that was a joke. I wanted to ring them at aroun 2o'clock in the morning only to find that there is not any security after midnight. This went on until 4am. When we did complain no apology was forthcoming. Needless to say we left very diappointed.

I have to agree with the previous reviewer, this place is dreadful!!! The challet was horrible and smelt very damp, musty and of stale smoke. It was shabby and not particularly clean and very "70s". There was a group of young girls staying in the two challets opposite us and they were making a lot of noise into the early hours every night!! The location is close to the beach and near to Brean Leisure Park, and the swimming pool in the Park was good, but these are probably the only positives I can say I'm afraid. We wondered up the road and found a nice pub to have dinner. For a cheap weekend away it was just about okay, but I definitely would never return.

I don't understand why there's only 1 review for Sandy Glade (aka John Fowler) at Burnham on Sea!?.... I can only imagine that when people return from here they want to erase the memory, and cna't bring themselves to write about it!!
We visited as 2 mature couples, for a relaxing long weekend without the children. The 'chalet' we were given was like something from the 70s - fake wood panelled walls, split plastic seating, crunchy (and very hairy) brown, dirty carpet, large but basic and grimy bathroom. Absolutely dreadful. I have NEVER stayed anywhere as grim and depressing.
The clubroom smells like a stale ashtray and has kids running around everywhere (the parents seemed happy to let them do their own thing - there were even children standing on the pool tables and kicking the balls into the pockets!).
Avoid this place like the plague!
