“Again please!”
Reviewed May 6, 2014 via mobile

What can I say? My kids visited with their father last summer and they just raved about this hotel, so despite being physically unable to ski and with limited mobility I was pleased to be taken along for their February ski trip. And it didn't disappoint. After a warm welcome we were shown earlier than expected to our rather large suite with a view of the mountain. A massive walk-in wardrobe, a separate loo and marble bathroom with separate walk-in (& even sit down) shower, 2 sinks and loads of fluffy robes and towels. The bedroom with a generous king size bed and a decent sized sofa bet had a seating area next to the stove with a massive TV and a desk as well. Wifi worked everywhere so the kids were in techno heaven. & the food.... You could eat constantly. A buffet breakfast with your choice of eggs juices etc etc then they feed you again at lunch, or from the menu, or with soup and buffets of salad and deserts included in the half board. And practically all day chomping on healthy snacks and not so healthy cakes, teas and coffees in the spa area. Then of course there's dinner a purely magical feast. With a great selection of wine. The restaurant is comfortable and spacious with efficient and friendly staff. The only disappointment was the couple of treatments I had in the SPA which were in my opinion not up to standard. The SPA structure itself is enormous and has pools in and outside and the usual range of saunas, steam room and quiet rooms, the only downside is the people who do not keep their child monsters under control but with a pool so nice it's to be expected. Finally the bar area (oh and in case you were peckish bar snacks are offered in the early evening) comfortable with great view friendly and efficient staff. The restaurant and bar spill out onto a generous (heated) terrace. Like my kids I can only rave about this hotel.

We have just returned from a week at the Post and will certainly return. We chose it on the recommendation of other reviewers and were glad we did so.
What impressed me first were the really helpful and friendly staff. They were knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. As others have said, the food was really excellent with great choices at breakfast and dinner. We also enjoyed the midday soup and salad offering and the cakes. There is an excellent wine list and we had good, well priced recommendations.
We were upgraded to a large corner suite which but the smaller one we booked looked good too. The view over to the Zugspitz is wonderful.
The spa and pool were well equipped and the outdoor part of the pool was warm even in Winter.
It was my wife's birthday when we were there and she got a lot of treats from the hotel on that day.
So, all in all top marks.
My only reservation is that the bar had an aroma of smoke at times. The cigar lounge smokers seemed to leak out a times.

Room Tip: One with a view of the Zugspitz.

The hotel is quaint and the service is super friendly. Just a short hour and a half drive outside of Munich and you are far away from everything. Near great downhill and cross country skiing. The all inclusive is a great deal and the food is delicious. The spa is nice and the indoor-outdoor pool looking at the Zugspitze is serene.

We come to Hotel Post now for several years and thus far it still doesn't bore us.
A typical Austrian Hotel with great charm, with a very welcoming staff at the reception.

Kitchen has become better and better over the past years and staff is very knowledgeable and the wine list is pretty notable.

The Spa area is calm and has a friendly atmosphere, spa treatments plentiful.

And after a nice day outside the bar is a nice place to have a drink.

And don't forget to go to the Tirolerhaus at the Ehrwalder Almbahnen. Tirolerhaus is located on the mountain at the end of the skilift.

Room Tip: not necessary - all room are good

We have just returned from our sixth stay at the Hotel Post and as with our other stays had a lovely time. For this stay we had a room on the third floor, slightly smaller than our normal 4th floor room but still with the same fantastic view of the Zugspitz mountain. The spa area is lovely and relaxing after a day skiing. The food is amazing and the very friendly restaurant staff always make for a nice evening. Thanks especially to Markus and Jennifer who were both always warm and friendly.

Austria is a little light on snow this season but most of the runs are open and the resort has been using their snow canons to create additional snow. Snow conditions were very good up on the Zugspitze.

we stayed at the Posthotel in Lermoos for the 4th period in last 3 years, with and without 2 little children, in winter and summer.
The main reasons we came back and will return in the future are: the excellent kitchen which reaches allmost a Michelinlevel, the spacious, nicely, distinghuished and cosy decorated rooms and other spaces where you never have an oppresive feeling, the allways friendly servicepeople, the swimmingpoolarea with communication in and outside (even with outside temperature of minus 20 degrees!).
The hotel has at one's disposal bicycles for free (with and without electrically driven) and even scooters.

In the small town of Lermoos 1½ hours drive from Munich you will find Hotel Post. I know there is a hotel named "Post" in nearly all Austrian cities, but this one is truely fantastic and worth a visit.

Hotel Post dates back more than 450 years but there is nothing old or warn down about this one. You will find a classic Austrian charming style with all the ammenities you could wish for. That includes a SPA, a Fitness center, in- and outdoor swimming pool, nicely appointed rooms with a breathtaking view of the Zugspitze and the biggest valley in Tirol, and last but not least a GREAT restaurant.

The service is polite but informal and charming and the food is truely fine. Most guests are on halfboard which includes a lavish breakfast, soup and the like for lunch and a "5-gang wahl menü" for dinner. If you're not in favour of someone selecting what you can eat for dinner you can chose from the "a la carte" menu and a wine list that will keep you occupied for hours
if you're into wine.

The valley sports a nice 9-hole golf club and numerous lift to the peaks of the surrounding mountains. This means that there are plenty outdoors activites no matter the season you chose to visit hotel Post.

When done with the days activities and the nice dinner, you should definitely drop by the bar. Very cosy, with a large selection of drinks (and the like) and charmingly and efficiently run by
the same bartender whom we have meeat on all our visits over the years to Hotel Post.

We have visited this hotel summer and winter, and this time during October. This is a funny month in Austria. We arrived in sunshine and played a warm and nice round of golf. When we left the hotel 6 days later the vally were covered in 30cm of snow!

The only thing I can put my pinger on is the hotel Internet connection. It works okay if you're in the lobby and bar area, but otherwise it is often hard to get a connection and you get thrown of the rather slow connection all the time.

When we left the hotel we got a small jar of jam as a gift - just to emphasize the were in fact leaving the sweet side of Austria! But we will be back (as another famous Austrian often says in his movies)!

Room Tip: 1. If you plan on hiking buy a multi-day lift pass in the reception and save you're self some ti...
