“Excellent apartment with wonderful views and very helpful owners.”

I stayed for a week with my 3 young children and we had a lovely time. The apartment is clean, light, airy and spacious, with a wonderful view of the sea. The owners, Anita and Stuart, were very helpful and met us at the apartment and helped us with our luggage on arrival and departure. They also responded quickly by email to any requests. I would highly recommend Casa Joanie.

“Superb location, opposite the beach”

I stayed here with my husband, daughter and 3 grandsons for 2 weeks at the start of the school holidays. This is the first time we have stayed close to the centre of things and without a pool, so I was a bit apprehensive. I needn't have worried, the location was great. Opposite the beach, a short walk to the old town(admittedly uphill), 10 minutes from the nearest supermarket, and less than 5 minutes from all the restaurants and bars on the seafront. The apartment was spotless, was very well equipped, although there was no air conditioning every room had at least one fan and when the patio doors and windows were open a great breeze from the sea. The views were magnificent, it was great for people watching every night. Being on the 3rd floor there was no noise at night, so no problems sleeping. Stuart and Anita who manage the apartment met us on arrival and were at the end of the phone for any problems we had. We only had to call on them once and it was sorted out the next day. They even arranged transfer from Alicante airport for 6 of us with a local taxi driver, one less thing to worry about. I would highly recommend this apartment.

“Great location.”
Reviewed June 17, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

The apartment was. Every bit as good as it looked in the photo's it was large enough for 4 adults and our grandson, never felt crowded. When you got up in the morning and saw the view from the balcony you thought I could do this everyday. the only thing I could find fault was no English TV but there was so much too do it did not matter. Altea is a lovely resort near enough to Benidorm if you wanted some nightlife good bus and train service if you want a drink but if you just want to chill this is the place.

“Great apartment in great location in great town”

We have just returned from 4 weeks in Altea, where we stayed at Casa Joanie. We love Altea, but the home from home comforts of the apartment really helped to make the holiday. Waking up every day to the sun streaming into the apartment set off each day to a good start; watching the fishing boats to and from the harbour or the cormorants nearby were daily activities. Our son in law loved being on the balcony and watching the world go by.

15 minutes walk along the seafront gets you to the riverside and then into open countryside where there are orange, lemon and olive groves. 2-3 minutes walk from the apartment rear gets you to the tram station, where hourly trams in each direction go to Denia in one direction and as far as Alicante in the other; tram tickets are very inexpensive, and we felt that most of the time we didn't need a car.

As a keen cook I enjoyed shopping for food locally, and there were plenty of good quality pans and knives to use; the fridge is large enough for the lots of tapas I made too. Even a shopping trolley was provided, so this helped for large shopping trips to the fruit & veg Tuesday street market. Obviously we ate out too in some of the many local restaurants, Juan Abril being our favourite.

Our family visited us, so we used almost all the apartment facilities; the 2nd bathroom has a deep shower cubicle, large enough for our 18 month old grandson to use as a bath. One week we were 4 + toddler and there was plenty of space for all of us + more to spare. The living/dining room is very large and the furniture very comfortable too.

There is masses of storage space, with even such things as screwdrivers provided - very little seems to have been missed. The dishwasher and washing machine were well used - certainly I won't bring as many clothes next time as they dried quickly on the airer.

If you are considering booking Casa Joanie, I can confirm that all the administrative issues were very straightforward; payment of deposit & balance went through easily, and Anita organised a cot and high chair for our grandson - Anita also organised a taxi transfer for us via Ramon at 75 euros each way.
On our arrival around midday Anita met us at the front door of the apartment building and took us round the apartment; Stuart visited on our departure day at 8.45 and helped with the luggage, which was a boon.

All in all, a great holiday, in a great apartment.

“A great choice”

We stayed here for 2 weeks in July, and were very happy with our holiday. The apartment is really lovely - perfect location, spacious and spotlessly clean. The beach, which is gorgeous - really clean and not too busy - is right out the front, and if you go out the other side of the building you are on your way up into the old town. Anita welcomed us and showed us everything in the apartment, and was very helpful with any questions. The apartment has everything you could need, including things like a parasol, chairs for the beach, hairdryer etc. We would recommend renting a car if in Altea for an extended stay. It's not necessary at all for Altea, but it's nice to be able to get out to explore a bit further afield as well. Highly recommended.
