“We really enjoyed this place.”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

Visited early June. Great location right at the top of Altea Old Town, fantastic views across the bay and very atmospheric with the old church and its bells ringing out regularly nearby. We had lunch and dinner here and both were good experiences. Everything we tried was excellent, the fish soup and scallops as starters were outstanding and the veal and lamb seasoned with rosemary from the daily specials list were particularly satisfying. Extensive wine list. The staff were very attentive without being a pain and the lady running the place was the type who would walk around half a dozen tables at a time, take everybody's orders without making a single note and get it right. Very enjoyable and would go back.

“Good, but not great.”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

I had heard a lot about this place from my parents, who had been there a year before, so maybe my expectations were too high. The staff were nice and friendly, but personally I don't like it when the waiter keeps saying "thank you" and "you're welcome" in our native language (Norwegian). Even though half the guests probably were from Norway, I would like to feel that I'm in Spain.

I ordered an almond soup for starters, and pork for the main dish. Both were good, but kind of boring. I would recommend the fish dishes instead.

“Wonderful fish with scallops to die for”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

We were recommended this restaurant for fish by our local hotel and were not disappointed. It is well worth the wander up the hill to the church and away from the sea-front. We sat on the terrace where there are both overhead heaters and soft blankets if required. The attention of the waiters was excellent and their spoken English very good. The scallops were memorable and moist with a light ginger and soy dressing. We both opted for the four fishes main dish and were not disappointed. Desserts followed with a meringue palisade surrounding ice cream and a trio of chocolate mousse. We finished with coffee and a complimentary digestif. All for a total of Euro 100 including wine and water. Money well worth spent for a special occasion!

“Wonderful visit”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

On our visit to the Costa Blanca, Spain, we visited a lovely little place called Altea. Asking for recommendation in some store we were recommended D'els Artistes and we were not disappointed. It is very well appointed, good service, very friendly, great food with a view on the Mediterranean. We had a very leisurely meal as we were not pushed although this restaurant is very busy. It left us with good memories and wanting to come back.

“Love this restaurant”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

This is one of the best restaurants in Altea. We have now been going to this restaurant for around 5 years and make sure to visit at least once during our stay in Altea. It isn't cheap but then the quality of the food is generally outstanding. My favourites are the four fishes and the chocolate mousse for dessert. The waiter's are always friendly and Helen is superb as front of house. As mentioned in another review if you can get a seat by the window the view is superb, but on a summers evening the patio is fantastic to enjoy the nightlife in the square. This would not be a restaurant to go to if you want a quick meal. The service is very good and they do not not rush you, it is definitely an occasion to sit and let the world go by.

Recommendation: Make a booking, especially in the summer if you want a patio seat.
