We stayed at the Kos hotel in late April 2014. The apartments are large and very clean. The decor is a bit dated however this is the oldest hotel in Kos town. They have retained the timber features throughout the hotel which gives it character. The staff are very friendly, particularly Martha the breakfast maître de and Erna the bar manager in the afternoon and evenings. Both were chatty and we're always interested to know where you had visited and to give advice on places to go restaurants to visit etc. The hotel is a 10 minute leisurely walk to the centre of town. Overall we got exactly what we wanted from this "extra" holiday..... Really good quality but at a great price. We would definitely return

Room Tip: Ask for a room above the spa overlooking the pool. You will have the sun setting as you are having a...

The location is good - lots of restaurant nearby and a 10 to 15 minutes walk downtown. Our suite had a kitchenette with a small sitting area and a living room section with two large sofas as well as a bedroom, a bathroom and two balconies. The furniture and the bathroom were a bit dated but reasonably clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was plenty and diverse with fresh fruit and vegetables, a large choice of cheese etc., yogurt, different kinds of bread, eggs, bacon, coffee, tea, juice and more.
Rooms with a sea view also have the noise of the road in front of the hotel. That might be a problem in high season, as we stayed there in the low season it was ok. The "To Special" is just a short walk away and, just like another reviewer stated, serves excellent icecream and wonderful pastries!

Room Tip: If you are staying in high season you might prefer to stay in a room facing the yard, as rooms with...

Supposedly a 4 star hotel, more like 3 star max, little subtleties of 4 star absent ! Just about acceptable, unless you fancied a lazy holiday strewn on the balcony or splashing around in the pool !
The balconies here are tiny, only about a metre or so depth, no room to sunbathe or anything, although they are private. The pool is FREEZING, couldn't enjoy it at all, only for the very hardy !!
As the afternoon progresses one side of the pool is completely in the shade of bushes so everybody competes for those sunbeds that remain in the sunshine on the opposite side, far from ideal.

There is a 15 minute walk into town to get to the main square, which is ok unless the wind blows,
and it becomes a very uncomfortable walk, as when the wind blows here it is unrelenting, like a wind tunnel!

Breakfast is fine, but typical of all properties in Greece, you feel like your every move is being scrutinised by the attendant staff, a bit unsettling ! Would have been nice to sit outside in the sunshine out of view but the hotel faces east/west and only has sunshine poolside in the afternoon. But this is preferable to the seaview side (east) which also overlooks the busy road and car park and is on the windy side of the hotel !

On the plus side a safe key and air conditioning are free and there are 3 English channels on the TV - Sky news, BBC news and the History channel.

Overall it is a fair deal for the price and there are no serious deficiencies, except the icy pool which is probably a lot warmer in high summer !

Would recommend H2O bar, which is conveniently the nearest to the hotel on the promenade side of the road. The complementary nibbles here are so generous and delicious you don't need an evening meal !! Hooray !!

Room Tip: Sea view side sunny am, pool side sunny pm! Depends whether you like sunshine in your room in the mo...

Good service, clean rooms and nice breakfast. Very nice gym and exercising area. Clean pool and suitable for adults without small children. You could also eat lunch/dinner in the restaurant which was a plus even though the variation was not that good.

Room Tip: A room with a balcony viewing the pool area

We could not fault it.

The Kos Hotel Junior Suites is an excellent family hotel in Kos town, which gives value for money, with outstanding friendly service. It is situated about a 15 minutes walk (past ‘To Special’ - the most amazing bakery and ice-cream shop so very bad for our figures) from the centre; far enough away from the lively, atmospheric but noisy area of the old port, with its ‘touts’ for the day cruises, bars and clubs, but near enough to get there when wanted. We chose the hotel for its nearness to Kos marina as we were staying for a couple of days prior to a sailing holiday, but we will definitely return to the Kos Hotel Junior Suites for our next stay, even although we have no need of the suite.

Our suite consisted of two rooms, the bedroom with adjacent twin beds, and the sitting room with 2 settees which could be made up to beds, plus a well equipped kitchen area. Both rooms had doors on to the balcony, which had chairs, a table, plus a clothes drier. There was lots of space, and room for clothes etc. Everything was scrupulously clean. Our room overlooked the sea, just across the fairly busy road. However the double glazing was such that we did not hear the traffic once the doors were shut. Rooms that dont have at least a side sea view from the balcony, overlook the pool (see later) Air conditioning was good and there was a unit in both rooms.

Buffet breakfast, included in our deal, was excellent, and served in the snack bar by the pool. The pool with surrounding greenery was an oasis- difficult to realize you were so near the road. It was very well used by families, with children from very young to teenagers enjoying it. The pool had three distinct depths; very shallow (fenced off) for tiny tots, - shallow but swimable for small children, with the main pool between. There is also a small ‘young children’ play area. It was great to see at breakfast a small boy needing water wings, but able to swim without by lunch. The siting of the pool was such as to screen out traffic noise and also the meltemi wind, which was very strong during our stay, but just provided a cooling breeze by the pool.

It is the people that really make the difference between hotels. Service was excellent and friendly by all, from the manager to the chamber maid. The hotel does not have a restaurant as such (hence limited score for food), although the pool bar served good and substantial snacks until early evening and also has a ‘kids’ menu’. However there are many excellent restaurants nearby, including one in an attached building.

For those so prefer to swim in the sea rather than a pool, the beach is just across the road, but Kos town beaches are not the best. If you want a beach holiday related to Kos town, you do better to go to one of the beach hotels at either end of Kos Bay, but in that case you will need transport into Kos as it is too far to walk often! Many hotels provide bicycles and there is a cycleway along the promenade from the east into town. Otherwise there many areas of Kos Island away form town with superb beaches (and buses if you are staying in town but want to visit for a day) The Kos Junior Suites however gives a wonderful base for those who prefer to be near, but not too near, the bustle of Kos Town, and it's pool, bar area is a haven.

We booked by internet directly with the hotel, and paid (within pennies through exchange rates) exactly the same as that quoted by several ‘booking agencies’. Booking directly, I only had to pay a deposit (one night, but I think it is 2 nights if you book for longer than we did) at the time of booking. Although we had no need of the ‘apartment’ facilities, for families it gives the opportunity for a very reasonably priced holiday with self- catering or not as desired

When checking out, I said to the receptionists ’ we could not fault the hotel’. An Australian lady checking out at the same time immediately said ‘I agree’!

Nice hotel and everyone was always polite and gave us good service. The distance from the city marked was ok to walk. You can also rent a bicycle and bikes right outside the hotel. The price on food at the hotel and outside the hotel was ok...starters cost about 5-7 € and dinners about 8-11 €. Drinks and Coffee about 2-5 €. The city had also lots of good atractions to see and do..

Just returned from a week at this lovely hotel. We were given this break free after my husband was taken very ill last year in Kos and ended up in the hospital. The greek tourist authority paid for this break.

All the staff in this hotel were lovely apart from one of the receptionists who spent most of her time on the internet and was very abrupt. Not sure what her name was but she had long curly hair blonde and brown.

We arrived and she knew nothing of our arrival and wasnt particularly helpful. We asked her for a view of the sea or the pool. The hotel was almost empty and we got given a room on the third floor overlooking the street. I was disappointed with that as there were tons of other rooms free that we could have had.

We settled in, and went down to breakfast to be greeted by the adorable Erna. Erna is an asset to that hotel. She is worth her weight in gold. She goes that extra mile to make sure you feel cared for. She really made the trip for us, I think she definitely should get a raise lol

Anyway we had to deal with the abrupt receptionist during the week about a leak, she said she would get back to us but never did.

On the last day of our holidays we had a terrible problem with getting in touch with the transfer company. We usually stay in Tigaki at the Tigaki star (see review) we have been there three times as the hotel and its staff are amazing. When we have gone there, the receptionist has always said leave the details to me and I will keep trying until I get through and find out the arrangements. The abrupt receptionist told me at 4.00 that evening, ( we were flying at nine) that she was waiting for a fax. I had to keep pleading with her to ring them again. She didnt want to but I got quite upset and annoyed and she did in the end. Her words to me were "I am doing you a favor here, this is nothing to do with the hotel. Well there was me thinking a receptionist was there to help clients with taxis etc etc. But then again I was taking her away from the internet.

We would return because everything else and everyone else was lovely. Just a shame that one lazy person spoils it.

Ps the breakfasts were amazing! Again down to the lovely Erna.
