What can I say? This place is the most perfect 2 star hotel I have stayed in. I would rate it more as a 3 star. Before I go further I have to say if you don’t have a sense of humour and don’t like to have a laugh stop here!
George & Barbara are the perfect hoists George is the chief cook and bottle washer so he says ask Barbara. He is also the semi professional leg puller in his spare time they will stop at nothing to give you a fab all round holiday.
Guida the Sheila and the rest of the family back up mum & dad and will take good care of you too.
We stayed in a 1-bedroom apartment, (226) which would easily cater for 2 adults, 2 children and a baby.
The food is fab at any time of the day. Go to the Lamb night it’s a must.
The Alice Springs is in a perfect spot. 2 Mins to the beach and just far enough from Kos town to get a good nights sleep. The walk into Kos town is a pleasant one so you can take in the sights.
Everything is on your doorstep if you choose to leave the lovely pool.
We also ate at the blue phoenix. This was also great. The only problem was I couldn’t eat it all.
The apartment was clean and had everything you would need.
We left to go to Rhodes to continue our journey. After a couple of days we noticed that we had left some important documents at the Alice Springs. I phoned George (who didn’t have our contact number) and he made sure that they where sent via a courier to Rhodes the next day.
These people will stop at nothing to make sure your holiday is perfect. Read the rest of my reviews as I have been with trip adviser some years.

We arrived at Alice Springs about 11pm and were greeted by George who was very friendly. He gave us directions to our room and his son Elias took our cases. The room was very nice with a kettle, toaster, microwave and shower. The view from our balcony was loverly as you could see the mountains and the pool was below us. The next morning we went for a walk and was very pleased how close everything was to us. The beach was just round the corner, shops and supermarket were just down the road and the town was about a 20 min walk away. The hotel was very nice and clean and well maintained. The meals served were not expensive with good portions and Georges beef and lamb was excellent !!
The hotel is a family run business with George, Barbara his wife and son Elias. It is the only hotel we have ever been to where you felt you was part of the family, not a paying guest. You were called by your first names from day one and they even remembered your room number you certainly don't get that in other hotels. I must just mention that Barbara had an Ausie friend there helping out and she was GREAT, I had some big laughs with her and I thought she was great!!.
The town it self is loverly with the harbour, ruins and the history that goes with it. The people there are very friendly and always smileing and it is full of character.
I have got to say that this hotel is brilliant, and we have never laughed so much and been treated so well, and without a doubt would go back there.
When our last day arrived we really didn't want to leave as we had had such a good time. We were given a loverly send off as George, Barbara and her Ausie friend said fairwell and gave each one of us a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. Sadly we missed saying goodbye to Elias. And they waved us off as we left.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to everyone and cannot wait to go back.
If you like to be treat like a person and not a number then this is the one for you.
Best wishes to George and his family,
Margaret and Kevin

A lovely hotel suitable for all age groups. We travelled with my parents and we were all made really welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Nothing is too much trouble at this family owned and run hotel. Your holday enjoyment is their priority. Make sure you book for George's Kleftico night and the Sunday Roast Dinner, you really wont be disappointed. We left very clean plates! Although the hotel is on the outskirts of Kos town, it doesn't take long to walk to and there's plenty of tavernas on the way. There are tavernas and supermarkets close to the hotel and if you dont know where to go...ask George, he's great for any info you need. We had some lovely meals, but avoid the Old River on thre see front, its ok for a drink on the walk to/from town , but the food we had was awful. Well below standard and when we complained they thought it was funny! The Baltic, also on the sea front looked after us well and were very entertaining! On our last night we had a meal at The Eucalyptus, over the road from the hotel. The food was really good, a lovely atmosphere and run by a lovely family. We would definitely go back to The Alice Springs Hotel, missing it already!!

I think having read the reviews I was expecting something fantastic so maybe this will help put the other reviews into perspective. Yes I agree the staff were very friendly and attentive and the lamb dinner (not kleftico) was nice but pricey. The on site menu has of a range of typical bar snacks, well prepared and of a good standard. The rooms were very clean if not slightly on the small side. On the downside, the drinks at the bar were at the top end of the price range but we ate and drank at other locations each day so it didn't matter. The Island was really interesting and if would be an absolute shame to go all that way and just sit by the pool. Overall, Alice Springs was above average and similiar in many ways to all the other small hotels in all the Greek Islands

I like yourselves read the reviews before hand and had no concerns about going to the Alice Springs. This was our first time to Kos & the first time in a small & friendly property but i must say it was wonderful. So lovely for the staff to know your name and come & have a chat with you over lunch. They even came and gave everyone a hug & a wave back onto the coach at the end of the stay. Would you get that in a 4star? We stayed in a 1bed apartment overlooking the pool. it was very clean & comfortable. toatster/kettle/microwave all included. The weather was glorious & the pool was very inviting if a little chilly. Food at the hotel was nice with a good selection. Unfortunatley there was no BBQ evening as it was early season but the Kleftico i can reccommend. The hotel is approx 20mins walk into town, either the beach route (which is a little run down) or the main road way (which is a nightmare if you have a buggy/wheelchair) But when you get there its very pretty with lots of tavernas & bars. We reccommend Jumbo's in town or the Blue phoenix on the beach corner. We would thoroughly reccommend this for a relaxing holiday, if i had to have a moan this would be just for the last day where we had to pay an extra 30euros to keep our room on as there was no shower room available. this is unfortunate as most flights are night flights. wouldnt put me off going back tho!! Enjoy.

Decided to take a relaxing break 4 months before the big day and thats exactly what we had!! From the minute you arrive at the hotel, you are made so welcome by George, Barbara and Family and all thoughts of home are immediately forgotten. The hotel has everything you need - clean rooms, a refreshing swimming pool, ample sunbeds, a bar which also serves good food and great company. The location is ideal, a few metres to the nearest beach and a short stroll into the centre of Kos Town. Overall we couldn't fault the holiday and came back relaxed and refreshed ready for a busy few months. We will definitely return!!!!
