Stayed here a few weeks ago for the first time and although it is quite basic the apartment we stayed in was clean and had everything we needed, you have to pay for the aircon but well worth it in the summer, the rooms have a tv and safe, its family run and everyone works really hard and are very helpful,we had a very small shower and bathroom but everything worked really well.
It is a good 20 minute stroll into town but its a walk along the seafront which is quite pleasant, there is free wifi by the pool and a computer which you have to pay to use but is quite cheap,we met lots of brilliant people including the staff and holiday makers (especially john & gaynor)which i think make us enjoy our stay even more.
A nice clean pool and plenty of sunbeds and very good food and service, only downside you can't book direct as its a thomson's only hotel, but would definately return.
.
I have to say that although it isn't the most

We arrived at 7am after a delay and change of airport tired and grumpy. We were met by Nikos and shown to our apartment. We were only on the first floor so didn't have to carry our suitcases far. When I first saw the apartment my heart sank because it looked dated (there was a radio built into the headboard!) and the pillows were w little hard. After my sleep I woke up and soon changed my opinion. The apartment had everything we needed from a kettle to a toaster and was spotless. Within a few hours it felt like home.

The pool was small but great, loungers were so comfortable and there was always some available. The food was great at the bar and iced coffees were to die for. I would reccomend the pita and hummus to anyone! The rep was great and full on infomation.

Greek night at the apartments was great fun, the food was amazing! I was promised by my friend that I wouldn't haver to dance but before I knew it I was dancing with the best of them.

The rooster was a bit of a pain especially as he liked to live on the grass just outside our apartment. We were told he had just moved in a few weeks previously and they have been trying to catch him so he can be rehomed somewhere else. The rooster wasn't ideal but we got used to it and is no fault of the hotel, they even have a 100 euro bounty on his head which made us all laugh. Some people even tried to catch him.

The town was about a 20 min walk but we hired bikes for a week for 20 euros and had a fab time exploring. As someone else mentioned watch our for the pedestrians - they ignore the bells. We also caught the bus into town and would walk home to walk off our food a little. The marina is closer and has a few restuarants. There are also a few places to eat at the end of the road. We ate in the first one you come to twice and actually sat on the beach. The food and staff were amazing.

There is a supermarket on the same road as the hotel which had everything we needed and the staff were really friendly. You can buy bus tickets to the town and Therma springs here, it's a bit cheaper if you buy them before you get in the bus.

We didn't have a bad meal and experienced some of the tastiest food I have ever eaten abroad.

The views were to die for - we spent the first few days saying wow.

Would I go again? Yes, clean rooms, good food and good location.

Stayed 1st week Sept. our first visit to the very friendly family run apartments. Loved every minute of and we were made to feel very welcome from Romeo (bar man) greeting us late at night on arrival and inviting us to the bar where indeed they serve food late into the night for hungry travellers, right up until departure where the tireless (74 year old) owner Spiros, personally bade us all farewell and waved the coach off! Yes there was a cockeral, five hens and nine chicks to entertain us! A few visitors complained that he crowed too loudly in the morning!! Prompting the fantastically entertaining evening bar staff to put a 100 euro bounty on his head. Everywhere spotlessly clean thanks to the lovely cleaning team especially Helen and her night wear origami! Can't wait to return again.

Stayed May 2011: spent 7 days self catering, room was basic, ok but s/c facilities were poor even by our frequent travelling experience. We asked the hotel manager if we could get a saucepan to go with the frying pan, or at least a lid for it,.and were told we should go and eat out instead.
The pool was small,.and the pool bar staff on the afternoon shift was miserable and rude to us.
About the Greek barbecue night, after seeing the food prep, done by the moody barman, without too much concern food hygiene, and then left out in the sun with the flies all afternoon, decided to give it miss....
Would recommend Kos, but seriously stay somewhere else

Had a great time in the Nicon - second time here and enjoyed it just as much as the first. The cockerel is a new addition since the last time we were here and we nearly died of shock the first morning, but after a couple of days it didn't bother us at all. The apartments including the grounds and pool are are kept immaculate. We were in a one bedroom apartment and found nothing to complain about. Loads of wardrobe space and hangers, beds comfy, nice big balcony. Bathroom was quite small, but not the smallest I have seen in Greece and was spotless. The bar area by the pool is staffed by lovely guys and the drink is good value - had a great cocktail - something yellow it was called - 3 euros 50. I wish I had tried it earlier as I did not discover it until the last night of my holiday. We didn't have a meal there as we ate out every night, but on the first night after arriving at 1.30 in the morning we had chips sprinkled with feta. There is a sign saying food only served until 22.00, but that is typical of the staff at the Nicon apartments that they produced this at 1.30 with a smile and a chat. It is about 20 minutes walk into Kos town, although there are quite a few restaurants on the way if you don't want to walk that far - there is a restaurant next to the yacht club bar that was always packed every night so I assume that was good although we didn't try it as it was an Italian and we always eat Greek food when here. There is a lovely Greek restaurant about 10 minutes from the apartments. Walk towards Kos town and you will get to the entrance to the marina in about 10 minutes - look to the left and about 20 yards up the road you can see a little blue and white restaurant. The food was really good there - swordfish was great. There is a place next door to the apartments called Daves that rents bikes at 4 euros a day or 10 for 3 days. You can use these at nights to get into Kos town, which was great as there is a cycle track all the way - but be careful as that does not deter pedestrians appearing from nowhere in front of you. We hired a car for the day - one day is enough as it is expensive and Kos is quite a small island so everything can be seen in that time. Make sure that when you rent there is zero excess as another tourist had an accident and the excess was 350 euros, which is a lot of money out of your spending. Normally you have to pay an extra 5 euros for no excess. Anyway back to the Nicon. Would I go back? Yes without any hesitation. If you want somewhere a little way out of the noise, but still easily accessible, spotlessly clean and run by nice people this is the place for you.

I can see that there are positives to Nicon apartments and some of the staff are absolutely superb but it wasn't the relaxing holiday we were expecting because of the following reasons:
- The beds were really hard and the bedding provided was uncomfortable so it was hard to get a good nights sleep
- The Cockerel wakes you up at 7am in the morning, every morning and keeps on going so even if you do get to sleep you are woken early. At all other times you can constantly hear noise in the apartments from the roads, the bar etc
- It was a good 20-30 minutes walk into Kos Town which meant if you wanted to get anywhere you had to wait for the bus or walk in the heat. This made it more difficult going out in the evening with my Mum who couldn't cycle or walk so well. The literature all says '10 minutes walk' but this is only to the Marina not the actual town where all the sights and good restaurants are.
- The apartments are small, crammed and very dated so were not a relaxing place to stay.
- The man behind reception was very grumpy and intrusive.
- The whole place is a bit tatty, as if it has seen better days.
- This last point isn't Nicon's fault but we booked with Thomas Cook and we were treated like second class citizens compared to the Oceania. Not by our rep, who did everything he could to make it brilliant, but by the other reps on and on the day trips they arrange etc.

This is probably a really good place if all you want to do is sit on sun loungers all day and drink at the bar. The guys behind the bar are really friendly and welcoming. Drinks are cheap and good. They do really good greek salad, tzatziki etc. However if, like us, you prefer somewhere a bit more relaxing to use as a base for exploring Kos Town and the rest of the island then this may not be the place for you.

we have just returned from nicon apts ,we feel that it was one of the best holidays as every one is so friendly + and the staff make time for everyone, such a good at'mosphere with Nicos +Romeo at night time and also Costas by day and good food, even the cleaners are lovely . the greek night is a must and although I cant sing the karoke was great. We also made some lovely friends, it seems that a lot of people return year after year. Which is always a good advert for the apartments. Kos town is only 10 mins by bus 1 euro and 10cents.the town is just lovely. You can hire bikes and the cycle lane is straight forward and goes through the town and is safe. We will return to Nicon apts. Gaynor + John x

Room Tip: We had no 39 which was great as I dont like being on the ground floor (insects)
