Years ago, my husband and I vowed that we wouldn't be the sort of people who went to the same hotel all the time.
Well, we are currently enjoying the second week of our fourth stay and I can honestly say that I don't really ever want to stay anywhere else. Coming here is like staying with family and everything you read in the reviews is true. Billy and Costas are the perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Sitting by the pool is so relaxing, and Mamma provides quality food with a lovely smile on her face. The hotel seems to attract friendly, sociable guests and the Greek night is always a highlight of our stay - especially if Billy is cooking!!
Lots of places don't live up to the hype - but trust me, once you visit the Bahamas you will feel like you have found your spiritual home. We cannot thank the Hatzihristofis family enough! August is all about drinks at the bar and long evenings full of laughter and a cracking Rose wine...make sure you try a Costas Kosmo!! Roll on next year...

Everything that has already been said about this hotel is true, lovely people and so chilled out.
We would definatly reccomend the 'Fish house' in town for meal , although its not a fish restaurant , lots of traditional meat dishes and best pasta ever !!! Its a very pretty taverna at the top some steps , all blue and white, staff are very friendly and helpful. you can then go for cocktail in bar attached where first cocktail is half price if you have eaten in Fish house.
We decided to try one of the boat trips other than the Katerina, although they had loads of good reviews , did nt fancy dressing up as a pirate, Poseidon was very nice and hassel free.
For very cheap night we bought take away gyros ( meat in bread wrap ) for 2.50 euro in cafe opposite the XL club, then sat on beach to watch boats, free glass of wine while we were waiting for them to be cooked ! Then back to Bahamas for night cap or 6 , love Greek measures !
Would definatly go back again.

We were a little apprehensive about staying in a 2 star hotel but need not have worried. Read the good reviews and they will give you a perfect picture of what to expect. The hotel is just great. It provides a relaxed atmposphere that seems to attract warm, friendly, well-behaved people of all ages. It was our first visit to Kos and Kos Town was the real surprise - exceeding all our expectations. Lovely harbour, a castle - an intersting old town with plenty of shops together with lots and lots of excellent restaurants providing large portions of good food at modest prices. We had a great holiday at the Bahamas Hotel and will certainly return.

Room Tip: I do not think any room location offers any advantage over the others.

Got back 9th August from the first place we will be happy to return to. The hotel is peaceful (no children) and friendly. Costas, Billy, Mama, George and the lovely young girl Aushra, are so friendly, calm and helpful. Efharisto to them all. The rooms are basic but functional, comfy double bed, daily maid service except for Sundays and she does a very thorough job, good flow shower with hot water at all times though the weather was so hot that cold water was the choice. Decent sized balcony with line for drying out the swimwear. Aircon is 45 euro per week, not the strongest aircon but it helped. lovely pool which was warmed by the sun, sun beds and unbrellas all around. 1 euro daily for a mattress for the bed. area kept completely clean by George. lovely seating area at the side of the pool and drinks and home made food and sandwiches available from Mama. Main bar and terrace bar run by Costas and Billy, same area used for the breakfasts which are continental and the same each day but very nice, (tea, coffee, OJ, cereal, toast, ham, cheese, and water melon). We arrived at approx 1am, Costas calmly sorted our room in minutes then worked in the bar until all the late arrivals were ready to call it a night. We paid 25 euros to keep our room till 7pm on the day of leaving but availability depends on the times of the new arrivals that day so as well to book early if you've a late flight home. It takes around 10 minutes to walk to the harbour and square, we walked all the time and didnt use any taxis. great little "bar" (its actually a hut) on the harbour oposite the ferry port, its cheap and cheerful but with fabulous views of the millionaires yaughts. I went scuba diving with Liamis dive centre, boat found in the harbour every evening except Sunday, very professional team, I was with 3 other divers and there were approx 16 try dives taking place too, we sailed out for an hour between Kos and Turkey then the divers were taken by Zodiac to the dive area whilst the try dives took place in a sheltered bay. Thompson rep Lucy was friendly although we didnt use any of the Thompson trips. Be warned of the temperature in August, 37 degrees in the shade, 46 in the sun.We enjoyed the Gallop bar at the side of the large supermarket near the hotel though long drinks were expensive, the beer was 2.50 euros per bottle. check prices on the boards of the many resturants as there can be quite a variation, you can find cheaper ones with good harbour views at reasonable prices and still lovely food. The beach is shingle and sunbeds are packed in like sardines, seems more for the younger age group (20's) with a lot of boom boom music. The Bahamas is a great hotel if you want a peaceful relaxing holiday and we were lucky to have only quiet, nice and friendly people staying when we were.

Room Tip: west facing rooms have a side pool view but will be very hot in the evenings, east facing rooms are...

This was our first trip to Kos after having the area recommended by family and the Bahamas hotel gave our holiday that extra spark! When we first arrived at the hotel after a long flight and transfer Costas was on hand to check us in quickly and even went and made some toasties at 2am as we were starving! After that I I can honestly say I have never stayed in such a friendly, well run hotel (including previous all inclusive deals) Costas,Billy,Mama,George and Austuka cannot do enough for you..You are always guaranteed a personal greating when bumping into either and they are always willing to help advice on local restaurants, trips etc....
The bar area is clean, friendly and a fantastic place to relax after the day...if you just want a quiet drink or have a chat with other holiday makers this is the place...Again Billy & Costas make you feel more than welcome and get everyone involved...Also it's branded spirits..not the fake or watered down stuff like on bar street or all inclusives.
The Pool is a good size and the we found no problem getting a sun bed in peak season at 11am..if you want a stress free swim with nobody jumping in or crashing into you you'll find this here. We ate around the bar everyday and the food is fresh and reasonably priced ( it's also freshly grown around the back which is a nice touch)
Our room was a good size and was always cleaned during the day.The air con was 45 euros a week but well worth it for when you're getting ready to go out.
Kos town is a short 10 minute walk with lots of shops bars and tavernas along the way. Mummy's cooking comes fully recommended along with Alexandros and La Strega which do the best homemade pizza as well as traditional Greek food.
Book your own 3 island boat trip down at the harbour as all boats charge 30 euros..we recommend Katarina as a friendly, fun boat which combines having a laugh with some relaxation...

All in all a fab hotel made mainly by the staff at the Bahamas hotel...

Vooooddka! ( for Billy )

Mark & Nikki

Room Tip: Pool facing rooms are the best and air con is worth the 45 euro

Stayed at the Bahamas Hotel in Kos Town returning on 5 August and not having done a package holiday for a few years I relied heavily on the trip adviser reviews!

The reviews are pretty much all very positive and I can only echo them here, the hotel which has 30 rooms is accurately described on both their own and Thomson's website. It is family owned and run, mainly by Costa's and Billy but also ably supported by George and "Mama", not forgetting Oushra who is on hand at busy afternoon pool times and also evening bar times.

If you stay at this hotel and end up complaining about something then you probably need to look at yourself as its the cleanest and most hospitable Greek hotel I have ever visited and far better than many hotels described as 4/5 star; the atmosphere created must also be infectious as the other guests staying in a full hotel where also all very courteous and friendly.

A last word about Thomson's; flights and transfers were handled exceptionally well and their hotel representative, Lucy, was on hand every day bar her day off to offer any assistance required and also the return transfer

All in all a very positive experience and not forgetting a very relaxing holiday on a lovely Greek Island which has lots to offer
