“A nothing special A/I hotel”
Reviewed July 8, 2013 via mobile

We found this hotel to be an average all inclusive hotel offering nothing particularly special. If anything our stay was mared by numerous bad parents letting their children run wild and some large groups with no consideration to other residents.

This is a large hotel situated in well maintained gardens and is probably a 20 to 30 minute walk from reception to the satellite areas of the hotel. However this is no major problem as you can get a hotel buggy from one area to another. If you cannot see a buggy when you require one a simple telephone call to reception and one will be dispatched to you. We never had to wait longer than 5 minutes for a buggy to arrive.

As for the restaurants, some we found to be good while one terrible. The Italian resturant being the best, Greek and BBQ good to fair, with the main resturant best avoided.

Bars were ok, with the piano bar most civilised.

Rooms were adequate and much as you would expect from this type of hotel.

Taxis to Kos Town could be aranged by reception and never more than a 5 minute wait. However, Taxis back are sometimes impossible to obtain so be prepared to come back by bus.

As for star rating the hotel calls itself 5 star (which it is not), TUI grade it 4 T, I would suggest that in the UK it would struggle to achieve 3 star hotel status.

All in all not a place where I would rush to return. But, similarly, I would not return to Kos either.

We stayed in the school holidays 2012 and had Z fabulous time. There is a variety of pools to keep the kids happy and multiple choice of restaurants and bars to spend the evening, we especially liked the Italian. would of liked to visit more than once with the children , however we tied our booking in with evening kids club which meant we could sneak a night out on our own! Bikes were really cheap to hire and the cycle paths around Kos town although busy made this an enjoyable way to explore the town. Loved every minute of this holiday, would return and would rate above FC holiday villages that we have visited. We stayed in the annexe block 9000 which appears more modern to the rest of the village. New water slides and splash park look fab too wish they had been there when we were!

Arrived at Kos 22.06.13, finding a good number of reps there to guide us to our waiting coach transfer, which took approx 30 mins to the Blue Lagoon Resort. It is a big resort, so they have electric carts to take bags/you to your room if you are allocated away from the reception, and we found all of the reception and bar staff friendly and helpful. We went to the reps well attended welcome meeting the following morning with Nicky and Lucy, who were brilliant by explaining, and didn't "Drag on". (Probably could have done with another rep for after the meeting to get around the interested parties - Thomson please note!). The hotel has a very large main pool, and getting a sunbed was never a problem, so no need for the early bird "towels out wacky races" thank god! They also have other satelite pool areas for children including a water park, and an adults only area which you need to request on booking, but unless your a recluse don't worry as the main pool area has plenty of quiet space, or nearby beach is always available if you don't mind the sunbed charge (5e). There are 5 restaurants, all with great food and well staffed. The restaurants manager Stefanos, is very approachable, and wants everything right for his guests. Long trousers are required by men in the evening in all restaurants except the Mesgios (BBQ or pool).
The beach is okay but is a shingle sand mix. However you can get a bus to the next resort called Tigaki which has a sandy beach, and also has the "Artemis Hamam" where you can spend an afternoon being pampered! We also went to the "Reps Monday Night Out" at Shinnangins Irish Bar. Book it it's great!! Speaking of which I can't end without praise for the Thomson/First Choice reps at the resort. They were available, approachable and professional when we needed them, but special praise for Lucy, who is an absolute STAR!! We loved this holiday, and are booking again for September!

Room Tip: Block 2000 - Sea view Block 3000 - Pool View

Location - The location of the hotel is good, the beach is a two minute walk away and Kos town is a short bus journey away.

Rooms - The rooms were lovely and clean, bathrooms nice and the maids do a great job of cleaning your room everyday. However do be aware that this resort is huge! And it took us a good 10 minutes to walk from our room (In the furthest block away) to the main reception.

Grounds - The grounds of the hotel are HUGE, however they are absolutely immaculate! There are soo many different areas of plants and grounds, all that are individual. You can tell that the gardeners must work around the clock to keep the place looking soo perfect.

Beach - The hotel beach isn't great to be honest, the sands a little stoney and dirty and the whole general upkeep of the beach is nowhere near as good a standard as the pool area.

Pools - The pools are amazing! There is an adults only pool for people who want to be away from it all a bit, this area is lovely, but a bit too quiet for me. The main pool has a great variety and is located right next to the main pool bar which makes it easy for you to keep hydrated! The main pool has a Jacuzzi area and is kept very clean and is soo big that it never got too busy! There are also a couple of different kids pools with different slides etc which would keep kids entertained for hours!

Food - The food overall was good, its all buffet style (as expected from an all inclusive hotel) . There was always different things to choose from and there was a good range of different things so that anyone would be able to find something they like! For kids there was also a kids corner which had things such as fish fingers and chips!
The best part of the food for us was the Fresh Crepe bar by the main pool!! This is a crepe station situated right next to the pool which is open all day, here you can go up and get fresh crepes with any filling you like,, Chocolate, lemon, biscuit, orange etc!! These were a massive hit and VERY moreish!
There are also the speciality restaurants you can visit, we chose the Greek one and to be honest we were a little disappointed with it.. we expected this to be a proper restaurant with menus etc, but turns out its just a smaller version of the main buffet restaurant you go to but with a theme...

Drinks - As with all inclusive hotels the drinks are never going to be amazing, I mean it wasn't great but you couldn't really complain! The cocktails tasted a little watered down but they were drinkable, and the wine wasn't too bad either! The pop drinks were great as there were refillable machines everywhere providing real Coca-Cola, Fanta, lemon Fanta, sprite and water! These were a saviour during the boiling hot days!

I would also recommend a trip to the spa one day - I had a back and neck massage for $23 this was lovely and whilst your there you can take advantage of the sauna, indoor pool and gym! All lovely and modern, there are also changing rooms and lockers for your things.

Nightime - The night time entertainment was to be expected - cheesy! But this is what you get from a family resort! Some of it was okay, but we just preferred to entertain ourselves at the bar!

Wifi is in the main reception only and is $5 for an hour or $20 for 24 hours.

Overall I would recommend this hotel, the atmosphere was great and the staff were all lovely ! All in all a great holiday.

Hope this helps!!

Me and my boyfriend came to the blue lagoon for two weeks as our first holiday away together. It was amazing! the animation team were great, really good dancers and singers and friendly as they came as chatted with us all the time, the evening entertainment was really good, the greek night on sundays is not the best though.

The hotel is beautiful and we loved Kos. One day we hired out a beach buggie from moto steve just next to the hotel for 40 euros for a whole day which was really good! We explored the island and went to old pyli (we climbed to the top of the mountains and saw amazing views and old settlements and castle remains from before people moved down to the coast) lots of fun, Alex is such a good animation chief and Sam and Sebi are brilliant, as are all of the animation team.

At the start of our holiday there weren't many English people but this soon changed as time went on ( I think because we went at the beginning of June) The beach outside the hotel is not very nice but if you go to Tigaki along the coast this is a really nice beach and also the one by Kos Town was meant to be better.

It is only 8 euros day or night for a taxi to town which was good but we walked this sometimes too which wasn't a bad walk, maybe 20 mins. Kos Town is really nice, lots of tourist shops and some cool old ruins there too.

I would recommend the Thomson Aegean cruise! It was expensive and the bbq lunch is not good! however, we saw some really nice places and one of the stops- I think it was called Pserimos or something has an amazing beach!! but to top it off we circled around the sea a bit until we spotted dolphins! They were amazing and swam right up to and under our boat.

The hotel is amazing and the four restaurants are so good, the staff are great and we got a huge online discount which made it even better. We paid to go into the annex building which was quite far away to walk to the main pool daily, however, when we arrived it turned out we had been put in the main complex which was amazing, especially as we had such a big discount! Brill

We were in 6014 which was next to the mini market which was very useful and main kids pool- we were worried about noise from here but we were surprised by the sound proofness of the doors! However, we weren't early risers and we got woken in the mornings quite often by maids outside our front door who sounded like they were having arguments every day.. also dogs across the road barked a lot.... but we were still very happy to be in the main complex and this wasn't such a huge issue. You could always get water in cups yourself through the day for free and get your bottle filled up for free at the bar so this was included in all inclusive.

Room Tip: Main complex is best for the main pool but the club carts are available to take you from the annex i...

It's my first time that i visited Kos island as my daughter got married this June. Before Kos i was spending my holidays for lot of years in Crete. Hotel it's very huge but although that it's full you don't feel like that as has lot of facilities, bars & a huge new as we learned waterpark. we stayed at 2000 block which has seaview. It's close to main building and reception and quiet although that main pool it's close.
Katerina was the wedding coordinator of our daughter's wedding and together with her 2 amazing wedding planners Alex and Neo gave us a really Greek wedding. Danced with us into Zorba and gave us lots of Ouzo shots. Ceremony & Dinner reception took place at Mythos Sunset Terrace.
I liked a lot the Piano bar and Ilios bar which it's in the lobby. The manager Stellos there managed for us to be seated and get served from his staff. From the restaurants i liked a lot the Italian one but not on the days that they have a family night. The only bad think with the restaurants it's that we have to sit next to families with babes although that we always asked to have a quiet table.
We rented a car from Kosmos which locates in the lobby and we visited for 2 days Kefalos, Zia, Mastihari & Hot Springs at Agio Fokas

Room Tip: 2000 block for you who like seaview. Ask for Alex & Neo for wedding infos & infos where to g...
