Not a lot to say other than this is a very old tree in a square! Nice that it is alleged to have a link with Hippocrates and a good photo opportunity. I do beleieve that a yew tree in surrey is the oldest tree in Europe...but there you go...

We visited the site of Hippocrates Tree as part of the island tour with a marvellous guide, Costa or Constantine. His narrative was passionate in providing a historic and cultural background to the area known as the foundation of modern medicine. Having an understanding of how things were laid out as well as why brought to life our imagination.
The ruins of the original hospital, laid out in tiers overlook the bay towards other islands. The tree itself, purported to be originated from that planted by Hippocrates himself, casts a welcome shade in the heat of the day.
While I would thoroughly recommend the Island tour with Costa, if you are visiting Kos town you can catch a tour train from the harbour area out to Asceplione for Euro 5 return trip with Euro 4 entry charge.
Whatever you choose this is well worth a visit to soak in some of that Ancient Greece as well as putting on a more earthly take on the legends of the Gods.
There are toilets and a refreshment area on short walkway to entrance.
While there is a easy incline path to access the different tiers good footwear is recommended to take ancient stairs for those with mobility of mountain goats.
Please don't climb on other areas of the site. Kos citizens are very proud of this heritage and seek to protect as well as renovate.

It clearly has no direct connection with Hippocrates but we still expected more than a very old tree surrounded by a scruffy railing in an out-of-the-way area.
