We stayed at the Diamond Deluxe Hotel in Lambi in Agust 2011 after reading some positive reviews on Trip Advisor. All I can say that these reviews are written by the hotel themselves. It looks like a 5 star hotel but at best it could be a 3 star hotel. There is NO internet service in the hotel. The reception staff are probably friends of the manager because they are very unprofessional and can not help you with much other than ordering you a taxi. The Diamond Deluxe advertise on family websites but do not offer cots or highchairs. There were 3 cots and 2 highchairs for the whole hotel. We were told by staff that they had to advertise on family travel sites because numbers were so low the were desperate to fill the rooms. They had nothing for children to do and the small playground could not be used during the day because there was no cover and the equipment got far too hot for children to climb on and in the evening there was no lighting so it was too dangerous to play on. The facilities looked good but there was no one in the hotel who knew how to work them such as the indoor spa pool with the jetsprays, massages etc... You had to wait for towels every morning because the manager told us that they wash them in the morning and they have to wait for them to dry before they can give them to the guests!!!!! Everyone around the pools sat and moaned that their children had to sleep in their prams and sit on their laps to eat dinner and the service in general. There were a few cases of food poisoning .On many occasions we had to ask them to clean the pools and the jacuzzi because there was always a layer of scum around the edges. When we complained that our baby needed something to sleep on the very rude receptionist sent to our room a 2cm deep bit of plastic that you would not even give your dog to sleep on. The manangement did not have a clue what they were doing, asking the receptionists to send away clients that had booked the Diamond Deluxe because they couldn't find the booking and at the last minute realising their mistake call them back. The staff in the gift shop were lovely and heard complaints like ours all day and suggested we contact the owners and talk directly to them as nothing would be resolved with the in house manager. The hotel is surrounded by impressive water features alond the sides of walkways. Unfortunately there are no barriers to stop people falling in and on at lease 5 occasions whilst we were there we saw people falling in, including the elderly. The food you ordered during the day was dry and was cooked from frozen and not fresh ingredients. There was hardly any meat in the burgers but was substituted by mashed up vegetables. For a 5 star hotel we expected much much more. It was the worst hotel we have stayed in.Do Not go there. This is a true account of the hotel so do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. It has potential to be great but it's not recognised by the people running the hotel. I have included photos to back my claims to help you make up your minds.

Room Tip: Hardly anyone received the room they chose when they booked it.

we have stayed in this hotel in august and a part of september,
we liked it very much,
the hotel looks very beautifal, like the photo,s you see on internet!
the rooms are very comfortable, big enough and has free internet.
the swimmingpool is amazing, the restaurant is good ,we did not like the manager of this restaurant he is not friendly, when you arrive in the dinning area he does not say hello, but roomnumber please,if you are there at the first time and you don,t know how it works and your going to sit at a table to take yor dinner ,and you did not see this manager to give yor roomnumber he is very unpolite ,we saw this happening a couple of time.also is he very rude to the waiters, and those boys kristapps marius en florin worked very hard, are polite gave a feeling to us as feeling home!
it is better to put marius in the job of reataurant manager he knows what he is doing!!!

if you want to go to the town of kos you gan take the bus,he stops every 10 minutes in front of the hotel,or rent a bike !

we like to go back !

We have just returned from the Diamond Deluxe Hotel in Lambi, Kos. What a lovely hotel. All the staff seem very happy and are always smiling and really cannot do enough to make your holiday special. The two wine waiters, Marius and Otiv work very hard and are always polite and happy even though they are always rushing around at dinner time.

The food at the hotel was very good something for everyone and always plenty of choice for dinner. I especially liked the breakfasts, including the pancakes and the cakes! We thought the price for beer were very expensive but as there is a good fridge in the room, you can stock up with wine or beer etc cheaply from a nearby supermarket which is approximately 15 minutes walk away.

The cleaners work very hard to keep the hotel spotless and all done with a smile. All in all, a very enjoyable holiday just to chill out and get some well needed R & R.

Kos Town takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes on the number 2 or number 4 bus for 3.20 Euros for two and 3.00 Euros for two on the way back – cheaper for some reason. As posted before, the bus stop is just outside the hotel so there is no problem going into the town.

The bars in the town square where the locals go with their children is especially nice just to sit and people watch whilst having a drink – really lovely.

Of an evening if you wish to have an outside table, you need to get to the dining room by 8.00 ish otherwise there will be a waiting list, so the manager gives you a number and you can have a drink in the bar whilst you wait. When there is a table available, he comes to get you and it does work although perhaps not for everyone.

Just one suggestion I would like to make to the management, I do wonder if, when you have ordered your wine or beer etc that the hotel have somebody at the door when you leave so that they can get the bill printed off for you to either pay or sign for, that way Marius and Otiv do not have to do this as well as taking the orders, getting the drinks, serving them and then doing the bill too. I have seen this at other hotels and it seems to work very well.

One thing we both did not like was that there is always some people who like to feed a stray kitten or cat whilst having dinner. Around us there were three tables all putting food down on the floor for this kitten. The food was not touched and just left there for someone to slip on. I think the management should do something about this. Surely you would not go out to a restaurant at home and start feeding a stray cat whilst eating, apart from the health and safety issues.

I loved everything about this hotel. Stylish, romantic, super clean, super nice staff. We stayed in a room with a private pool, which in november is kind of not really useful because the pool is on the outside side of the hotel which means rather windy. But I imagine that in summer is just perfect. We had breakfast and dinner, which was just great. A lot of choice and good wine. I also took a massage which is good and reasonnably priced. I would definitely stayed here again.

I was here with my wife for ine weeks and I would like to make my comments about that hotel.
First of all I totaly not agree with the last comments and the criticism about the Diamond.
Here is my opinion and the experience we made:
The hotel looks from outside very beatifull and stylistic. The rooms have an excellent equioment and are verry clean. The front desk (receiption) is working friendly and fast. Even by arriving four/five rooms for check inn at the sime time, they managed it great and professional. Especially the guy in the receiption made all our wishes come truth. The Pool bar sercice was friendly, fast and very obliging. A "kalimera" "giasou" and "evcharisto" was always there. Every morning we were here for drinking our coffee at the pool or ordering it to the beach. Our lunch we always had in the poolbar was great. Here we were watching to the pool and relaxing in the white fantastic seats. From there we could observe the good team work of the crew. The restaurants needs a little bit improvement. Especialy the maitry has to change the outfit to property clothes for this job. About the prices I have nothing to criticize. Of course some are a little bit more expensive but quality has his price. And this hotel is quality! I will definitely come back again to this excellent hotel for relax holidays. I do not know why my previous writer were scathing this hotel - We can tell you that we are not sharing their opinion.

Just returned from this hotel yesterday. Had a really lovely holiday as was very relaxing and the weather was HOT HOT HOT but we would not return to the Diamond Deluxe.

Pros:
Diamond Suites - Fantastic room, very clean and spacious. Private pool was amazing.
Sunset - This was beautiful and we took many many pictures every evening.
Cleaners/Maintance People - Always very friendly, greeted you will a smile and a hello.

Cons:
Service - The staff in the restaurant, the bar and on the reception are in need of some training of working in a 5 star hotel. Jeans and trainers not really what you would expect to see staff wearing. A number of times we had to wait for a table on an evening as the restaurant was full, at no time did we hear "Im really sorry but we have not got a table available at the moment but if you would like to take a seat I will come and get you once one becomes available" then when table available "Ok Mr & Mrs X so sorry to have kept you waiting, we have a table ready for you now so if you are ready please follow me and I will show you to your table" BUT what we did hear was "whats your room number, go wait in the bar!" then when the table was available your room number would be shouted out and then hearded into the restaurant like sheep!
Food - Not acceptable for this standard of hotel, an all you can eat buffet style. Bland and tasteless! No sign of any greek cusine. Flies everywhere in restaurant on the food.
Drinks/Lunch Cost - 20 Euros for a bottle of house wine.....far to expensive for any standard of hotel and to have to pour own drinks yourself in the restaurant, not what I have ever experienced in a restaurant or another similar standard hotel! 4.5 euros for a small bottle of Mythos! We ventured out to a supermarket about 1km from the hotel and invested in some beers/wine which we kept in our fridge in the room and spent our evenings on our terrace relaxing together. Lunch in the pool bar was a very limited menu. Salad starting at 7 euros and burger etc 10 euros. Personally I think extremely pricey! Option to eat in the main restaurant was available (20euros pp) but we did not use as the buffet breakfast and evening meal was enough! Due to the hotel's location I feel that the hotel have used this to there advantage to overprice drinks and food! We headed into Kos Town by bus one evening and found a lovely little Greek restaurant in which the food was fantastic and the service excellent!

This hotel was not a friendly and found alot of the time entertaining ourselves with which of the guests we could get a smile off, as we found that nobody socialised with anyone or even be polite with each other. Dont get me wrong I'm not one for making friends and socialising on holiday but to be stared at and looked up & down every day was not a very nice experience. Myself and my husband joked that perhaps we had grown 2 heads.

Overall I feel that this hotel needs to look at what people say on here and spend the winter sorting things out in order to improve on customer retention for the future.

Room Tip: Diamond Suites - Expensive but worh the money. If not a DS then a Pool Room.

My wife and I stayed here for a week 7-14 September, 2011 and had booked half-board. We chose the hotel based on its website, what we had seen in a couple of holiday brochures and reviews on TripAdvisor and our overall opinion of the holiday was rather disappointing. We have stayed at a number of boutique style hotels in the Greek Islands and maybe our expectations are high as a result, but we are experienced travellers and compared to other hotels this was a poor relation. We do not want this to be read too negatively by either future travellers or the hotel's management as we are expressing our honest, balanced opinion.

The rooms, pool and pool bar area are stylish and very nice but we feel the owners / management are not getting the best from the hotels other facilities. The Spa is expensive and appeared very quiet and guests are expected to pay to use the sauna and steam room, which we considered small-minded and as a consequence seemed to render them unused whenever either of us popped in. All meals have to be taken in the main restaurant and are served buffet style and whilst this type of 'eat as much as you want' offering suits some, with the exception of breakfast, it is certainly not for us. There is a pool side menu but it was limited and the hotel didnt allow lunch here to be credited against either half-board or full-board.

In the evening there is an Al-a-Carte restaurant where guests can get a 20% discount, but it is still expensive and in the week we were there we didnt see anyone in, which seems such as waste. We also expected a 'Cushion Beach Bar' but there isnt one, a fact that the hotel and it's travel partners need to come clean about to future travellers. Our vision was a bar on the beach at which we could have a cold drink and a light lunch and we do not consider an infrequent waiter service with plastic glasses and food brought from the hotel across the road to be anything close to that.

Staff in the main were friendly and efficient with some more so that than others.

The hotel is also remote with no other Bars or Tavernas within walking distance to provide a change of scene and with the hotel's lack of dining options combined to make our hoilday experience all the more disappointing.

In summary, we will not be rushing back to Kos any time in the near future and if the hotel is to meet 'our' and other similar discerning traveller's expectations of a 5-star hotel, it's owner / management needs to address the number of issues noted above as soon as possible.
