2nd visit. Party of 5; 3 adults and 2 teenagers staying in two rooms.
The Hotel is comfortable, warm, well furnished, with clean spacious rooms. All rooms in the new annex face Mont Blanc (terrifice views). The rooms each have a double and single bed together with a large shower room. The hotel owners were very welcoming and helpful. Excellent restaurant which we ate in on the last night. Breakfast good selection, freshly squeezed orange juice and freshly made pancakes and omelettes.
Location is just outside Sallanches on the road to Passy (not far from the motorway). We stayed 4 nights this time and skied in Megeve. Megeve is 20 minute drive away accessed by a good mountain road. From this location you can choose to ski at various resorts in the area depending on the snow conditions. We would be happy to return to this hotel and think it would also be a good base for exploring the area in summer. A car is essential as the Hotel is situated between Sallanches and Passy.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing Mont Blanc - terrific views on a clear day

I arrived at this hotel completely free from any bed bug bites - after one night's stay, I awoke with 35 bed bug bites and managed to capture two bed bugs. I confronted the hotel manager and showed her the bugs and the bites. At first she was very apologetic and offered to clean the room and change the bed linen, but with no offer of room change. After returning to the room we noticed the pillow cases hadn't been changed as they still had the stains from the dead bed bugs. The hotel manager then tried to lay the blame on us, claiming that we'd brought the bed bugs with us. We then felt our stay at this hotel was untenable, and had to find alternative accommodation for all of our party, without receiving a full refund for all of the party. On previous trips I have stayed in accommodation of a lower star, but wanted something a bit more expensive for my wife. Unfortunately this incident spoilt the whole holiday.

I stayed here on my own for five days whilst my son was recovering from a skiing accident. The hotel owners and staff could not have been more kind and helpful. They went out of their way to assist me. My room was extremely comfortable, breakfast very good and the restaurant was popular with locals and guests, its known as the best in town. It was all very reasonably priced. I cannot praise The Orangerie highly enough.

We really like this hotel. It is a genuinely good, at the top of its three star rating. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Good breakfast, and evening meals with a touch of class. If you can get there early enough, take a walking map, cross the road, and go for a quite beautiful walk up into the little settlements and stunning flower meadows in the foothills of the alps.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the annexe - you will have either a sitting out area or a balcony with a magnifice...

Stayed here for six days in the middle of March 2012.Have travelled France a lot, both staying in hotels and self catering over the past 40 years- this just about beats them all.Ideally situated for access to many walks, climbs and visits to Megeve,Chamonix and other beautiful places. The room we were given in the lovely annexe was spacious, very clean, comfortable and, best of all,the balcony of all the rooms look out onto Mont Blanc and Aigullie de Midi.Every room cleaned daily with new towels in warm and spacious shower room.
The food is absolutey amazing - high quality gourmet food with local choices. There seemed to be lots of local French customers, especially Friday and Saturday night so it may be best to book if you go at weekends. I must mention the amuses bouche between courses that were very inventive and delicious. Breakfast also great with good choices.
Best of all were the patron and his wife and family who made everyone very welcome and were very friendly and attentive. My french is awful - especially with a Northumbrian accent- but there wasn't a problem at all because the patron's wife speaks good English. We really must return again soon and strongly recommend this aubergerie

We stayed here for 5 nights. It is a little out of the way, so you would need a car to see the entire area. It is within 30 min or less of everything. Skiing is very close by. The restaurant is really good! The food is amazing and at a reasonable price. The wine list is good and not too overpriced. The owners and staff are very helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious and clean. We brought our dog with us, which was no problem and later found out that the staff had taken him for some walks while we were away! How considerate is that! This place is truley a gem and I would recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. We hope to stay here again in the future, if at least not for the restaurant...it was SO GOOD and packed every night.

Room Tip: If you have a dog, we got a room in the new building that had doors that opened to the outside yard...
