“Don't miss the unique and charming Villa Mimosa - the perfect base for exploring Selinunte and the beaches around”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2010

The moment you turn into the narrow driveway of Villa Mimosa, you know you'll be enjoying a restful stay in a beautiful agricultural setting. Olive groves and orchards surround the property but it is the flora (and fauna of the domestic cat variety!) of Jackie's gardens that really impresses. The entrance to our apartment was bedecked with wisteria in full bloom and it was that intoxicating smell which accompanied wonderful breakfasts of strawberries, home made breads and preserves provided by our charming host. Inside the apartment was delightfully decorated and has everything you could possibly need for self catering - no need to go out and buy olive oil or vinegar for your salads, and just "borrow" a lemon from the back yard. The proximity to the extraordinary Greek ruins of Selinunte make this a perfect base to explore the region. Also, I left a favourite pair of boots behind and Jackie immediately posted them off to me and wouldn't hear of reimbursment. I'm just trying to work out what gift to send her to compliment all the lovely things in her beautiful home.

My first (but hopefully not my last ) visit to Villa Mimosa in Selinunte, Castelvetrano. On arrival Jackie was waiting to greet us with a smile, even though it was a very very late arrival.
She immediately showed us to our room, which was spacious and comfortable with air conditioning provided. The fridge was stocked with essentials that were needed and Jackie had made us a lovely meat and cheese salad which we ate voraciously before retiring for the evening.
On waking we were greeted by Jackie delivering fresh Sicilian bread and a lovely bowl of fresh fruit. Both were absolutely gorgeous.
Villa Mimosa is set in its own olive tree lined grounds and the views and smells that greeted us were amazing. Whilst we ate breakfast, Jackie told us about the local history and best places to visit during our short stay.
Our stay was a short one but I hope to visit Villa Mimosa again and stay for a longer period of time, in this most peaceful, charming and delightful setting.
Highly Recommended

Jackie welcomed us back again to her beautiful rustic Villa Mimosa! She is the most delightful host, paying such attention to detail to make our stay memorable. She even surprised me with a birthday cake!
It is so relaxing staying with her amongst the olive trees and of course we had to bring back some of her wonderful olive oil.
We went back to our favourite places, to swim and eat and the weather was already hotting up for the summer ahead. Having air conditioning installed since our last visit was a real bonus and it was quiet and efficient. What we so enjoy is having the charm of the little apartments rather than a hotel, so that you get to feel local and do your own thing!

This charming bed and breakfast is small, intimate and serene. Set in the middle of olive groves , this quiet retreat offers an opportunity to relax and unwind. Each of the four rooms has a private bathroom and kitchenette allowing guests to be completely independent. The rustic, yet comfortable setting allows one to commune with nature while still close to cities, historical sites and beaches. The owner/operator provides excellent hospitality and service.

Alistair Sawday properties are always delightful and Jackie's is no exception. We stayed B&B. The room was huge with a well stocked kitchenette (incl coffee machine and ground coffee) and it's own little bathroom. The bed was huge and comfortable and has airconditioning. There are pictures on the walls books and films should you want them - not an anonymous hotel room by any means. The real joy was in the sociable arrangement of the shady terrace that connects all the rooms - each has its own table and chairs and we enjoyed a glass of wine and conversation with Jackie, her friends, her cats and other guests many evenings before heading off for dinner elsewhere (usually a reccommendation from Jackie) Jackie was also generous with her knowledge of the locality. there are some amazing places to visit and she gave us us some really helpful advice.
Jackie is respectful of her guest's privacy, attentive to their needs and an absolute sweetie. We went twice last year and will definitely go back again.

Returned to this delightful retreat in southern Sicily for the third time and stayed in Hera again, a lovely room furnished in the traditional Sicilian style.
We love the relaxed atmosphere of the place and the friendliness and helpfullness of the hostess who makes you feel one of her family of friends. Jackie provides a wonderful supply of breakfast provisions and fresh bread daily to enjoy out on the patio under the shade of the overhanging mimosa and wistaria. See photo.
There are masses of things to do in the area and Jackie has a wealth of knowledge to help you plan your stay whether to visit towns, antiquities or the markets. Marinella di Selinunte, a short distance away, is a pleasant seaside village adjacent a long stretch of fine sandy beach. We enjoy going there for a swim in the late afternoon when the temperature drops a bit and for a walkabout, drink or meal out in the evening.
Returning for a fourth stay in summer 2009. Its a little gem!

once you find this you wont want to leave. jackie is a great hostess and organises fresh bread in the mornings. has a host of information about the area and what she doesnt know she will find out. had dinner in house with her guyide andrew and his wife margaret who is a great cook. comfortable rooms and very quiet despite being near to the main road. olives oranges and lemons in the garden. andrew is available as a personal guide for a tour of selinunte, masala or palermo.
very sad to leave will go again
