we booked two rooms here for my sisters pride and prejudice themed 21st birthday in feb. It was snowing when we got there and it added to the ambiance of the place. We really enjoyed our stay here, the hotel is lovely, very warm and welcoming , loved the big open fires!!!

and the reception staff and the porter were lovely. Some of the bar/restaurant staff were a little less welcoming, but sure you cant have everything, can you? hotel grounds and surroundings were really lovely.

Rooms are tastefully furnished and in keeping with the charachter of the building. really comfy massive bed. had a great nights sleep!! you can turn the fan off using the thermostat and take your card out of the socket, in my room at night there was a very loud Hum from some electrical applicance or other, that went away when i took the card out.and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would reccommend to anyone looking for something special. the lounge with the open fire was really nice, to just sit and look out at the lough with a coffee/hot chocolate.

we had cocktails in the blue room in the evening. But the food was just ok in the bar, 100 euros for 4 main courses, 3 soft drinks and a glass of wine.nothing spectacular, we didnt eat in the restaurant because the food was too fancy and expensive for some in our party, but i did note that they had steak (30 euros )and also a vegetarian menu. Breakfast was really tasty with a really good selection and served in a lovley room.

overall we really enjoyed our stay and would happily reccommend it and come back ourselves.

we enjoyed a relaxing, stress free weekend, the staff were more than helpful and friendly, very professional. We found it very clean, well appointed, lots of period features which added to the atmosphere of a lovely traditional house. There was a only a small high window in the room, we didn't mind this but I can see why people would find it dark and cheerless. the restaurant was lovely and the service was first class, beautiful, well cooked meals, I cant wait to visit again!!!!

Stayed here last night, took the ball and chain away for a night. We had the most relaxing evening and night. It certainly is a destination to get away from it all and wind down.
We arrived early so to have enough light to stroll the grounds - even at this time of year, they are amazing. Checked in, lovely room overlooking the lawns and the lake, splurged on afternoon tea in the main hall by the open fire, it maks you feel like you are in your own living room - very comfortable.
We had dinner later that evening in the Restaurant, it was a thursday evening, so not too many others in the restaurant, however the evening was amazing - the food was amazing the service was amazing, I would have to recommend the cote de boeuf - never had it before, but it is like butter melting in your mouth, cooked to perfection, medium, and carved at our table.
This was our first time at Lough Rynn Castle, we got a great deal on the internet for a winter get-away, bb was only €89 for the 2 of us !
Will definately be going back again in the new year
Thanks Guys!

We didn't stay at the hotel, so I can't comment on it (though it looked pretty nice). But we did have dinner at the Sandstone Restaurant and were quite disappointed.

The dining room itself is lovely, but we experienced lots of glitches in service and execution. Our waiter was supremely uninformed about the food and wine. At a lower-priced establishment, that might have been forgivable but not here. Execution varied on our food: I had a halibut entree with over-cooked fish; an entree of wild boar was appropriately medium rare, as ordered, but nearly tasteless.

The last straw was when we specifically told our server that we needed a dessert without nuts for someone with a nut allergy and received--pistachio ice cream (!) as one of the choices on the plate.

Sorry to say, we had an expensive meal that wasn't worth nearly what we spent....
