“Lovely getaway”
Reviewed December 3, 2009

Really enjoyed my weekend stay here. They had a special - pay for Saturday night B&B and stay Sunday night free. The rate for two people was €195 and we paid an extra €50 on top for a deluxe room.

I liked the remoteness, the grounds are superb espcially the walled garden (although a bit bare in end November).. I found the staff superb - very friendly but intrusive. We dined a la carte on both nights and the dinners were superb

lets get one thing straight here this is not a castle this is a large house and they have really milked the castle bit, there is so many small rooms you are walking form room to room but yet there is no decent size room for a gathering of more than 20. The bar is in a room that resembles an old cloakroom. The prices are out of this world and after all, we are in Leitrim and not Paris. Some of the staff look like there out to get you (more senior staff members) like looking under your shoe for dirt. The car parks are not completed, there are no lights and queit frankly a terriying experience when its dark as you dont know what could jump out of the woodwork. I would not recommend this house to a friend or an enemy.

My husband and I stayed at Lough Rynn Castle for a weekend break. It is a beautiful hotel, lovely gardens but the weather was awful so didnt get to explore fully the surrounding estate. What is so special about this hotel is the staff. From reception staff to bar staff to waiting staff to the chamber maids each and every one is friendly polite and welcoming. We ate both nights in the restaurant and must say the food was fantastic. It is expensive but worth it . Breakfast food was also great. This is a place to come to unwind to get away from it all. The nearest big town is 20 minutes away . Unfortunately the spa is not open yet and apparently they are putting the finishing touches to the Golf Course. When these facitilities open it will greatly add to this place.. Only down side no bathrobes slippers in bedroom and hairdryer a bit knackered but that may be due to the room we had booked and these are just minor petty things I like extra in a room ! Without doubt would recommend this for a romantic get away from it all break ! Enjoy

Stayed at the Lough Rynn at the start of a five day break . arrived on sunday evening 9.00pm . checked in and was escorted to my room . BE aware No lifts in this hotel . ok room a little small but ok . Brekkie fairly good standard . Overall impression of this hotel was of a nice stay if you want to escape however if you want to near a town or city this is not the hotel for you . PS on check in on sunday there were two staff and no problems , hoever on the monday when we checked out we had to wait 20 min as only one satff member and the phone were ringing constantly / guests waiting to check out.
