“Beautiful scenic getaway”

Booked a suite with seaview for three nights for our honeymoon. Wonderful remote location. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were well kept. It was wonderful to wake up in the morning and look out of the huge window in the bedroom and watch the play of the morning light over the valley to the sea. At night we sat on the loungers on our balcony and gazed up at the stars picking out constellations. We had dinner at the convent on our first night and it was absolutely delicious. A lovely full breakfast the next morning set us up nicely for the day to explore the area. We spent one of our days chilling locally and after a walk into the nearby village, spent time enjoying the great weather by the poolside and occasionally dipping in. Lovely peaceful area to just chillout and relax, and a good base for travelling around. We spent one of our days in lovely Sintra not far away.

The Convento has been lovingly and beautifully restored from a ruin and is a maze of passages and rooms all set in the depth of a deep ravine facing the sea. There are controlled gates on the winding path down with an intercom to open if expected. Otherwise if would be prudent to telephone before going down to the Convento.

The room we stayed in was roomy and well appointed. However it was also somewhat cold and damp - no heating.

The communal dining room contained a magnificent dark wooden table, where all meals were taken.

The staff were friendly and the service good. The food was also good but not outstanding. However, the self service breakfasts were very good.

This is a place that should be considered for a stay if in the area of Azoia.

we stayed here and booked a suite with seaview. The suite was very small, had a very small sitting area and upstairs a very small bedroom. The bathroom was also very small. We were very disappointed! The staff was friendly, the breakfast in a very dark room was good. This place is only nice for people you can walk and climb, not for a family or elderly people. There were lots of antiques and interesting furniture and a good honesty bar.

Room Tip: the suites are located 50 mtrs from the main building.

We spent a good part of our two-night stay trying to work out which parts of this delightfully quirky building - with its numerous steps, corridors and hidden nooks and crannies - were new and which were old. We're still not sure, such as good job has been done.

Set in a hidden valley with views to the distant sea, this is a wonderfully peaceful spot, beautifully and interestingly furnished, with comfortable rooms to relax in.

Both breakfasts and dinners were freshly prepared and delicious, with good Nespresso coffee at breakfast and plenty of local wine at dinner. As long as you don't mind sharing the long dining table in the atmospheric dining room with over a dozen other people - you can't avoid a chat! - it's an amazing place to stay.

We too stayed for two nights as part of an Inntravel holiday. Our room had a private balcony with a fantastic view. We had a big, comfortable room with a good bed and a clean, functional bathroom. Public areas were very welcoming, with lots of comfy seating, a good honesty bar and free tea and coffee. The staff were all really helpful and spoke perfect English. Food was simple but generous and the wine provided was really excellent. The swimming pool was a bit cool, but it was very clean and we had it to ourselves. A lovely place!

Room Tip: We had room 5 which has a sea view down the valley and a lovely balcony.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a walking holiday and were very impressed with how the old building has been restored and there are many interesting pieces of furniture and antiques, etc everywhere, and the best (and largest) open fire I've ever seen. Breakfast and dinner are eaten on a large table and the food is lovely and you are very well looked after. The hotel is in a stunning and very peaceful location and there is also a great bar only a 10 minute walk away - with views of the ocean and good music and cocktails. Would definitely recommend staying there and we hope we'll be able to go back.

Like previous reviews we stayed here for two nights during a walking holiday arranged through Inntravel. The location is stunning in a secluded valley well off the beaten track. The buildings have been impeccably restored with rooms of individual character full of antiques and curios. The swimming pool looked inviting but only one quick dip achieved because of unseasonably cold weather, never mind, a roaring log fire in the sitting room was adequate compensation.
We had two splendid dinners with copious quantities of wine included. Afternoon tea with freshly home baked cakes, sumptuous breakfasts with a variety of cooked and cold dishes, oh, and a decanter of port in our bedroom!
We had a very warm welcome from our hosts who did everything to make it a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.
