We had a very good time at the Betaab valley. It was drisling and the experience was wonderful. Clicked many photographs there and also saw one shooting of a Tamil movie. It has got lot of trees with good shade.

“Beautiful Pahalgam....”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

This place in Kashmir is a must watch for scenic beauty lovers. The white snowy looked trees, the panoramic view of the snow capped mountains, the silent Lidder altogether makes a unforgettable experience. This place hardly takes half an hour from Pahalgam but is a must watch and the river is surely going to make a lasting impression on your mind.

“At Betab”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

The place is nostalgic though the entry point is cramped; parking is an issue; once you take these in stride, the place is wonderful - the river flowing by you and telling you that she will meet up with other streams down the place

“Very Touristy, but if you come to Pahalgam, you may as well see its natural beauty”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

Avoidable in summer months and it becomes a mess. If you visit Kashmir/Pahalgam after July then the whole Walk/Pony ride to Beetab Valley is worthwhile. You can also learn some basic horse riding here. The open grounds are good enough for a canter. Pony's are available at different rates from Rs 200 to Rs 800 - depending on where you take them from and how hard you bargain. If you are staying at the better more upmarket and secluded locations, the pony guys near these hotels charge more as they get less volumes. The pony/horse if picked from near the Bus-Stand/Main Bazaar are cheaper.

We stayed at the Senator Pine-n-Peak and got a superb Ghoda Wala(Pony/Horse)- He was the son of the "Mali(Gardener) at the hotel and a very friendly chap. His name was Mohammed but thats the most common name around, so go by the "Mali's son reference.

The meadows are beautiful and the water falls are quite scenic. View from Baysaran is also very good. There are small Waterfalls along the way (More "Jharnas" than Waterfalls)
Get pictures clicked in local attire, laze around and just have a small picnic.

Carry food and water with you, otherwise you can eat "Maggi" and "Omelettes" at the shacks. Unless you are fond of long treks, take a pony ride. If you chance upon a good guide he will entertain you well. Ask him to take you to a local village and you can see how the locals live. You may also be able to see some people doing the traditional "Kashmiri Work" on shawls.

PS - Liquor consumption in the open is frowned upon and if you have to have a swig pre-mix it in a bottle of Coke/Sprite.
