very spacious. ideal location, services are though virtually absent. they need to have better kitchen facilities
checking in is cumbersome

but once u move in the campus, all grouses would be over
highly recommended. not advisable to go for private properties

Stayed in a 2BHK Hut in May. We reached Pahelgam at Night and did a mistake of trying to locate the Hut, but in vain. As per the rule of J&K Tourism, one needs to visit their local office for booking paper. As per the advice of locals, we reached the local office at around 8 pm & found the office closed. However, after calling the contract no, displayed on the closed door of the office, their representative arrived and gave us the booking paper. Luckily another representative accompanied us upto the Hut. Hut was far-off from market place & one needs own vehicle to commute.

Since it was night, we could not make out anything about the location except a sense of relatively dark lonely valley. The first impression one will get in Night- where have we reached and is it a safe place? I hope J&K Tourism have been making adequate security arrangements for Guests, though we did not locate any security personnel.

We were attended by the representatives and our luggage was also transferred by them. Our Hut was in 4th Row and hence needed to trek more distance to reach the Hut in inadequate light (relatively dark) & slippery condition (certain areas were slippery). One needs to be more cautious.

Bedrooms were quite big with attached toilets. The rooms were equipped with bed heater, room heater and adequate blankets. The bathrooms had running hot water (even in May, the weather was quite cold in Night & hence hot water, room heater is must). Even though Room Heater, Hot Water etc. were available, but the Hut was not adequately maintained. Bathroom was so-so.

The Hut had a dinning & kitchen. Since we don’t cook during pleasure trip & hence ordered for dinner. We were told that the cook has already left and hence some simple vegetarian dish (like Rice, Dal, Mix veg etc.) can be served, which we ordered. We also ordered breakfast (bread, butter, omlet & tea). The foods were very expensive & no variety. One should order in-room dining only when there is no other option.

Our Hut did not have adequate facility to recharge my Camera. Here I must appreciate the representative (who stays at a nearby Hut), who tried to make our stay comfortable. Camera was also recharged by him in his Hut.

The morning brought the surprise. The scenic beauty was astonishing. At one side, it was Snow-peak Hills on other roadside it was Lidder river flowing (one can hear the sound of river flowing), surrounded by greenery- great natural beauty, one will obviously enjoy. Vehicle for local sight-seeing could be arranged just by a call to the local vehicle union.

To sum-up, the Hut is located in a lonely valley with great scenic beauty but far-off from the market & needs own vehicle to commute, not sure about safety & security, not very well maintained, good for a large group, elderly person should avoid, book Huts at 1-2nd row from the road for less trekking, supportive staffs.
.

Room Tip: Book Huts at 1-2nd row from the Road.

Stayed in a one bed room hut ,the location was beautiful .did not go with high expectation of comfort so did not get disappointed. As a matter of rule when ever I travel I always carry bedsheet my towel electric kettle and tea bags. The hut was spacious had TV the only way to communicate with the care taker is through cell phone, The approach to the hut is not very easy you have to trek, market is at a distance though it has a kitchen it is not easy to use.If you have your own transport to commute to the market for meals and really love nature and wish to stay in meadows then it is worth it.

Room Tip: Stay in huts closer to the road

The JKTDC huts in Pahalgam are very spacious and are a good value for money but do not have good facilities. We stayed in a 1 BHK hut which has a kitchen and a spacious drawing and dining. There is no service at the huts and one is provided with an electric kettle, so we had to buy teak bags, milk powder. Good for large families

Room Tip: the JKTDC hotel staff allot the hotel room

The JKTDC bunglow is quite far from the main market. You have to walk a lot and it is on the hill.SO you would have to treak all the way to the huts. There is no transport available to reach there. The only means is by walking. Further the tourist bunglow is again situated on high mountain, which means you have to climb up a lot of stairs to reach the rooms. This is very cheap, which is only the advantage otherwise not a recomended option. Please do not book this if you have a family or elders.
The rooms are in pathetic condition. Not maintained at all.Further when we went there was only one person who was the cook, the manager and everyone.
The rooms are very scary and smell. The bathrooms had broken tiles and there is no room service available.
It would be a nightmare for people with family and kids.

Room Tip: If you do not have budget constraints, please book hotel pahalgaom or mount view pahalgam

I arrived at Pahalgam after having booked 3 1BHK JKTDC huts at Pahalgam atleast a month in advance and was told upon arrival that only two were available as someone had decided to over-stay. With little option, we decided to go ahead with the other two cottages.
One look inside the cottage and my Pahalgam stay was doomed! Really old rooms with paint chipping off every corner, some of the worst furniture, beds not having proper mattress, soiled linen and the worst was yet to come. The loo was unhygienic and dirty. When the same was pointed out to the officials, they pointed to some High Court order which bars them from upgrading anything, but am sure the court has not barred cleaning the premises.
I guess a disclaimer should have been carried on the JKTDC site for the pathetic condition of the cottage.
24 hrs restaurant/room service had staff sleeping at 4 PM and we were given directions to the main road for .evening tea/snacks.
Definitely not recommended to anyone visiting Pahalgam.

Room Tip: Do not book at this property. There are a few good one's next to the river.

The Jktdc huts at Pahalgam were truly Great !!! They are of two types -one bedroom +drawing room and dinning room and the others are two bed room +D/D . Both types have a well equipped kitchen along with electric Kettle.Being a larger family group, we had hired one of each type. The two bed roomed cottages are very well located with about 2500 sq ft of private lawn and are on the road, while the one bed roomed ones require you to walk about 100 mtrs. There are very polite attendants provided and they furnish all that you may need right from soda to full packed meals !!!!!!! The best part was the electric blankets provided in the huts...............U get a very cozy feeling getting into a warm bed especially after getting wet in the river rafting ....
My recommendation: Go for it .The two bed room ones really make you feel like an ICS officer of the yore.............sitting in open Verandah and sipping tea ,while a "Maalishwala" messages ur feet ( all for Rs.150/-)and you negotiate with the ubiquiteous shawl sellers........TRULY GREAT !!!!!

Room Tip: Try to get road side cottages as inner ones make you feel lonely at times......
