Diving with sharks is an amazing experience, however I would not recommend doing it with this company. For a 12 hour day you actually only have around 15 minutes in the cage. Staff also quite rude and uninterested.

Thank you for your response. No-one at our company ever guaranteed you a certain amount of time in the cage. If the sharks are active (like they were on the day of your tour), even 5 minutes is a lot in the cage as there is so much action going on that it feels like 20 minutes and most of our divers are happy after only around 5 mins in the cage.

Once a diver has finished the dive he can dive again (after the other divers have also had a turn).

You were given preference by our Dive Master, who allowed you to dive as long as 15 minutes in the cage. In addition, you have received everything and more what you paid for, which included; luxurious return transfers from Cape Town, breakfast upon arrival, 3 hour boat tour which included highly qualified staff, a tasty hot lunch and drinks after the tour. You also saw sharks around the boat and from the cage. A 12 hour tour was provided to you and all that was promised was received by yourself. Oh yes, we also gave you a new and dry wet-suit!

Thank you again

We went on a shark dive with this company a few days ago and learned much about how misunderstood sharks really are. The educational aspect was very important to me, but I was even more surprized by how courteous and professional this company was. From the time we made our enquiry (thank you Eileen for your patience!), until we stepped off the boat we were treated well and enjoyed the tour very much. The food was good and we had fantastic sharks – some of them were upto 4 metres in length!

Me and a friend completed 2 cage dives with white shark ventures , enjoyed every minute of both trips, even if I did feel sea sick on my 1st dive. Saw 3 awesome white sharks on both trips. Recommend highly.

Beware of the sharks on land! This was to be my most exciting adventure. It turned into the biggest disappointment. We arrived at Great Shark Ventures in Kleinbaai, after a 3 hr transport from Cape Town. Looking out on the bay, the water seemed a bit choppy. I was a bit surprised that the cage dive was still on. After listening to an overview and instruction, we paid our money and headed out for 20 minutes to where we anchored. 5-10 minutes of the first group being in the cage, the captain aborted the dive due to conditions, and we headed back. Disappointed as we were, we had to defer to the captain's knowledge of the sea. We we outraged that the operator - Great White Ventures, refused to refund a single Rand (dollar) to anyone. They were fully aware of the condition beforehand, but only exercised caution after the money was taken.

As correctly stated, Gansbaai is 2,5 hours from Cape Town,162 km away from Cape Town. Collections normally take around 30mins to an hour. This information is stated on our website and all our literature.

Firstly I would like to say that I do understand your disappointment as it was very unfortunate that things unfolded the way it did. However, it is important that you understand that we have been in operation for more than 25 years and know how to read the weather fairly accurately. We will never endanger our clients lives by launching the boat if the conditions are dangerous. On the day of your tour, the weather prediction was not ideal but good enough to continue with the tour, so we went ahead and scheduled the tour. When we arrived in Gansbaai, it had worsened slightly, but it was still fine to continue with the tour. The captain of our boat has been working for us for 25 years and knows these waters like the back of his hand. As safety comes first and all passengers on board is his responsibility, his call is always final. No one will tell him to continue with the launch if he deems it unsafe. We have often cancelled tours on the slip before going to sea, which will be done in an instant if the captain feels the conditions are unsafe.

Once on anchor the conditions got progressively worse (this was also not predicted by the forecasters). After a while, the captain had to make a call for the safety of all on board, and aborted the tour.

In conclusion, you have received the entire tour as advertised by our company, which included the following; return transfers from Cape Town in our luxury vehicle (2 hours drive), breakfast upon arrival, boat tour which included highly qualified staff, hot lunch and drinks after the tour - all expenses which was covered by our company. On top of this you did get to see 3 active shark around the boat – again you have received all you expected from us. We cannot be held accountable for sudden change in conditions and we acted 100% correctly by aborting and cutting your tour short. .

However, as we are reasonable and understand the disappointment by cutting the tour short (even if it was no fault of our own), all guests were clearly told to contact our office in Cape Town so we can work out some form of refund as compensation. We certainly never refused to give a refund. Already we partly refunded most of the group on our tour. It’s a pity you did not take this offer and preferred to voice your negative comments on here instead.

My second trip out with White Shark ventures ! First trip was a solo which I enjoyed , second was me and 2 friends ,
our pick-up time was reconfirmed 1 day prior as promised , good communication ,
the booking process was super easy and fast , 1 quick phone call!!
price is the best deal i could find and included transport from Cape Town,
meals provided , were good & filling ,staff were
friendly , helpful & knowledgeable -
our boat had about 20 passengers , so we had to rush a bit getting in and out of the cage - fair is fair -but still we all had time to get into the cage , some of the other boats were bigger with what looked like more passengers , that cant be a good thing .
bonus we stopped to see some whales !! If your lucky enough during season
what more can you ask for ?
Thanks again guys for a great trip !!
I recommend .
