“Great hotel in a lovely quiet area!”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights in April 2012. The hotel was great value for money, rooms are lovely and we had a great view looking out over the sea from our room on the 7th floor. Breakfast was included in our rate and the choice was excellent, probably the best breakfast I've had in a hotel.

Absolutely no complaints about anything at all. Every member of staff we spoke to was courteous and spoke good English. We enjoyed it so much we are going back on January 19th for another 3 nights.

The hotel is pretty near the metro station and the main train station is just a little further away and is near a lovely beach.

This hotel was chosen by our travel agent. The hotel itself is very modern and somewhat stranger than other hotels. In your room, you walk straight into the bathroom area first which was a bit odd, maybe we are just oldies but it was very strange. Also, unless you are a "couple" it was not very private. The bathroom/toilet were not so discreet. Alas, our stay was enjoyable. The hotel room was clean but did lack tea/coffee making facilities, something the oldies miss. Also no iron in the room which is an inconvenience when you have been traveling for weeks and living out of a suitcase. Staff were friendly and helpful and most spoke good English. This hotel is not close to anything when you are old and unable to walk distances. We had to taxi each time we left. My pick would be to stay close to the city centre unless you are happy to use the public transport.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor for the best views

Stayed here for 10 days while in holiday and had a really lovely modern room on the 16th floor. Great views and air conditioning.

We found staff helpful and friendly, ate in the restaurant, which was very tasty. The buffet breakfast every morning had such a large selection, all of it was delicious.

Great location, near to the metro station and only about a half hour walk to the beach- lots of great little shops to look at on the way.

This hotel is very nice, modern and clean. The staff is very helpful. It is located ~10 minutes from Barcelona by metro and ~6 mins walking from the beach. The beach is sand; nice and clean. There is a promenade along the beach full of restaurants and bars.

The breakfast was excellent, great choice of continental breakfast.

The room is quite large with great cleaning service every day. There is a terrace on the 14th floor with nice view on the town.
The only disappointment was the location of the toilet/bathroom, the door was broken and it was too close to the bed.

I can recommend this hotel to people who want to get to see Barcelona, but do not necessarily want to be accommodated in the rush city centre.

The breakfast starts at 7.30 am.

It definitely is value of money.

We stayed in Rafaelhoteles hotel in Badalona for 3 nights and it was excellent.
The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were lovely and modern...and there were a lot of English speaking channels on the TV!
Breakfast was good and varied.
But the best bit was the hotel's location. It was about a 10 minute walk from the nearest metro station and similarly about 10 minutes to the beach which we preferred to the Barcelona beaches like barceloneta beach just because there were so many people constantly trying to sell you drinks, etc. In contrast, the Badalona beach was nice and chilled.
Also, we were lucky to have a room where you could see the sea in the distance and gave amazing views of the sunrise.

Me and my partner stayed in this hotel from the 13th to the 20th, due to its location outside of the city and having read numerous reviews about its overall look and feel.

My suggestion to anyone considering staying here is simply, don't. Our room was broken into on our first night and the room safe was smashed into pieces with the intention of stealing all our money. I had exchanged money at the hotel reception and we were either being watched by another guest or someone not staying and the hotel, however, our conclusion was that this must have been an inside job.

Luckily they got away with nothing as we (luckily) did not leave our money in the room safe and my suggestion to anyone considering leaving valuables in your room is don't, having seen how easy it was for someone to break into the room safe.

The hotel was unable to explain how someone may have been able to break into the room and made us feel like WE had intentionally done this. WE were made to feel like the guilty party, with their only response being "This have never happended before...". The police were called, but we were never consulted and were not provided with any updates throughout the rest of our stay.

We were offered an upgrade, which we accepted, as we did not want to cut our stay short, nor could we afford to find alternative accomodation. Housekeeping left our room door open on 2 seperate occasions and even left the bedroom window open, not such an issue as our new room was on the 15th floor.

Following the incident, the staff were rude, unhelpful and generally looked down on us as I can only assume they still thought we had something to do with the break-in.

There is no security at the hotel, pizza delivery people are given free roam of the hotel and we generally felt un-safe for the rest of our stay as the hotel were unable to provide an explanation in regards to the break-in.

I requested the details of the general manager to make a formal complaint, which weren't provided to me. I have issued a complaint letter to head office which as yet has not even been acknowledged.

Badalona itself is a lovely town, full of lovely friendly people, lovely restaurants and bars and the beach itself is a lot nicer than Barcelona beach.

If you are considering staying in Badalona, find an alternative hotel to this one...the Hotel Miramar on the sea front looked quite nice, for a 3*.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel!

Dear guest:
Our General Manager has emailed you on 23 August the complaint we received on 22nd August.
We are unable to give you more explanations, as this matter is being dealt with the police, as we were unable to find any evidence of unauthorized door opening. You will be informed as soon as the news are comming.
I also regret any frustration experienced when attempting to address this issue in the hotel and apologize if you have felt not well assisted by our staff.
Best regards.
