Aparthotel Aura Park

We stayed for 6 nights in a 2 bed apt on the 4th floor, with a balcony and overlooking the car park. The apartment was clean and spacious, with cooker and fridge freezer. The beds were very comfortable, one room had two singles, and the other room had a large king size, there was ample wardrobe space, but the usual lack of coat hangers! The air-con was very effective. The rooftop pool was a huge bonus in the heat of August, and didn't get too busy at the times we went to it. The only issue with the pool area is that there is a lack of sunbeds, and a couple of them were broken. There is a great view from the roof . The staff were very helpful and spoke reasonable English. They provided a hair dryer as there wasn't one in the apt, and you could borrow an iron from reception if needed. The apt was within easy walking distance of the metro stops at St Josep and Av Carrilet, taking about 15 mins to the centre of Barcelona. Unfortunately the major drawback with these apartments is the noise within the building. The floors are made from laminate, which is not good for soundproofing (although easy to clean), and the noise travelled easily between floors and next door apts. The dining chairs are metal legged, and scrape along the floor making lots of noise, which carries to the floor above and below. Also the interior corridors cause noise to echo around the central area of the apartments. The other sound issue is the apartment front doors - it is impossible to close them without banging them shut as the door handle doesn't turn on the outside! The interior doors are also quite heavy and bang shut noisily. We experienced a few very late nights as we could not sleep until people had finished coming in for the night due to the doors banging until the early hours. This is a major consideration if you find it difficult to sleep with noise all around you. We were there at a busy time and the apartments were fully booked, so maybe this wouldn't be a problem at a quieter time of year. It is a shame that the level of noise disturbed us so much that I would hesitate to recommend people to stay here.

We were 8 persons and we couldn't find a hotel to stay.
Aparthotel Aura is perfect for friends or families. It is little far from the center but near to metro station Sant Josep and Av. Carrilet . The hotel and the rooms is very modern. Τhe staff were very helpful.
Definitely I enjoyed my stay!

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the street is brighter than it is in the clerestory.

We stayed for one night at the conclusion of our two week cruise, prior to flying home. We arrived at around 9am and although the room wasn't ready until 2pm, they stored our luggage so we could go into Barcelona. The rooms are great; good size, living room/kitchen and separate bedroom with a huge bathroom (family room). The price for the night was 80e, which I think is good value. The air conditioning was ideal and quiet! I heard no noise from outside and had no trouble sleeping (mind you, we were absolutely shattered after a great, 'full on' cruise). The swimming pool is clean and tidy and a welcome relief from the 30 degrees August heat.

One point of note is that the breakfast is 5e each and very limited in content (according to the notice in the lift). There is a very cheap supermarket (Dias) close by near to the Av Carrolet metro station, which costs a fraction of the price to feed a family of four with a good breakfast. Just food for thought (excuse the pun!).

The hotel is situated in a somewhat 'run down' area of Barca, but we came back at 1230am in the morning (having eaten with friends) and it was quiet and 'felt' OK (it's also right next to a big police station!). It has good close links to 2 metro stations; St Joseph and Av Carrolet, the former being the closest.

The Metro system is modern and easy to understand (L prefix is underground, R is regional train service and S is national). An all day 'Zone 1' (that's all you should need to see the sights) costs about 7.50e per person. All the attractions we saw (e.g. The Olympic Stadium, The Camp Nou and the Magical Fountains) are within easy reach of a metro station. There is a 'hop on, hop off' bus service operating from Plazza Catalanya, but it will set you back around 82e for a family of four (2 adults and 2 kids under 13) and I personally think that's unreasonable. The metro is efficient and air conditioned (in the trains) and costs around 30e for the same family for a whole day.

The magical fountains at Piazza Espanya (in front of the Art Museum) are a 'must do'. The show from 9pm at night is free and is spectacular. The Camp Nou is a good experience for any football fan; they are truly a wonderful team (even if they have won the European Cup on only four occasions...) :-)

One word of warning; watch for pickpockets. We had no problems, but the warning adverts are prevalent, particularly in the Metro. My advice is to avoid the busy rush hour times and if in a group, one carry the valuables in a money pouch or similar, whilst the other watches him/her accordingly. There's no need to be paranoid, just have an awareness.

we stayed for 6 nights in a 2 rooms apartment on the 2nd floor - street side. There was a lot of noise once you opened the window. At night we must sleep wit eardrops. Reception very friendly. Not enough sun chairs at the pool and when I asked a not so kind Dutch family to share , their answer was No. I informed the Reception of this but they did not do anything. At the end of our stay almost all sun chairs were broken and the floor at the swimming pool was full of cigarettes.

The hotel is near the Metro but with small children maybe better to choose a place more in Town. Nothing to do or see in the close area of the hotel apart from a shopping mall.

Beds were comfortable and clean. Towels every day.

I don't think we'll go again.

Can only confirm what all the other great reviews are saying, so will add other bits of info for your stay if you go there. This aparthotel is great, a quiet little oasis! In a residential area no other hotels, close to Sant Joseph metro station, close to Airport too (one stop to Gronan, change there to airport train, only two stops to the airport!) We got a three day tourist travel card from the airport which covers trains, buses, metro travel anywhere in Barcelona for about 20E each which we found convenient and cheap to use, considering the amount of travel you can do!!

The rooms are bright, clean and airy. Balcony was safe for kids, with great views towards the city. Did not hear any aeroplanes despite closeness to airport. Amazing central 'vestibule' area in the building. The space everywhere was a great antidote to the crowds, heat and hustle and bustle of the city. Friendly helpful staff. Check in after 2pm, checkout before 12 noon. (If your flight is later in the afternoon, the staff are happy to store cases in a small conference/meeting room behind the reception to collect later, which was a great!)

Fab for large families who struggle with the usual 'no more than 4 on a room' hotel policy. The apartment had a double bedroom, twin bedroom, and a pullout sofa bed in the lounge so family of 6 could comfortably be accommodated here. Kitchen was basic, but a great money saver from having to eat out all the time. (Local Lidl, turn left out of the reception door, go down alley to thw junction and Lidl is over the main road, you cant miss it!)

The swimming pool was a great surprise, some reviewers have had problems finding it..use the left hand lift near reception, its the only one that goes to the 7th floor (or use the other lift to floor 6 and walk up the stairs to the top, go through left hand grey door to come out where the other lift arrives) Open from 9am to 9pm.

Nectar restaurant is open for breakfast (5e) and throughout the day, serves burgers around 5E, pizzas all about 10E, tapas etc. Pizza was frozen (it came still attached to the cardboard base!) But was OK for a quick pitstop before departing to the airport after checkout. Oddly it closes at 6pm, so if you arrive back later from a hard day sightseeing, and dont feel like cooking, try one of the cafes along the street. We had a whole chicken, three portions of chips, roast potatoes, salad, dips etc for 15E from a great takeaway further on (just past the metro station).

Yes the shower does drain towards the living room as others have mentioned, but hardly worth mentioning now as it as they have obviously tried to rectify it (lip around shower area and doorway, plus a shower curtain now stop this happening)
