Without a doubt the best place to stay in Rankin if you find yourself here. I have stayed three times for business reasons and was lucky enough to have the newest suites. Mini kitchens, nice bathrooms etc. Several cuts above anything else in this frigid landscape.

My stay at Nanuq lodge was terrific. Paige and John are welcoming and consistently helpful. Rooms are high-end, roomy and totally comfortable. Lot of thought was given to making this a great home-away-from-home. Loved having the option of doing my laundry. Best of all: the view from the breakfast room - watched sunrise, storms and John's sled dogs. Top marks all around!

I travelled to Rankin for work for a week in the beginning of January 2013. I was staying at the Coop Hotel (which was horrible) until a colleague suggested I see if I could switch to Nanuq. I called Page, who runs the lodge with her husband, and she was absolutely wonderful. She picked me up and took me to the hotel and even drove me to the health centre as I fell ill during my stay. The rooms are clean and new and the beds are incredibly comfortable. Page goes out of her way to make your stay comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked for breakfast and waking up to warm muffins is a treat! You also have use of the fridge, microwave etc during your stay, which is incredibly convenient. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

Room Tip: I stayed in the annex building, which is new and lovely.

The Nanuq Lodge is a great option when staying in Rankin Inlet. Before you go to Rankin, be aware that you do need to plan in advance because it is very common for hotels to fill up completely.
Page and John are kind and thoughtful people who go out of their way to be welcoming. They often provide small extras, such as picking guests up at the airport or baking fresh muffins each morning.
The lodge has basic rooms and suites. I have stayed in the basic rooms twice. Each has an ensuite bathroom, a desk, phone, bed and television. The rooms each have Inuit art or wall hangings. Rooms are warm and comfortable. From the rooms facing the water, at night you can sometimes view the Northern lights from your room window. Truly spectacular.
Continental breakfast is included, toast with jam/peanut butter, cereals, juice, yogurt, muffins, coffee/tea.
I haven't stayed in the suites but they have a basic kitchen with a mini fridge and microwave.
In summary, this is a great option in Rankin, you get the feeling that Paige and John truly care. Tips. John has sled dogs. They are beautiful, however some people find them noisy or that they can be woken up by them. I've never had any trouble, but it is worth noting. Also, the internet at the hotel is sometimes unreliable.

I travel to Rankin Inlet for work several times a year. There is a chronic accommodation shortage, so there certainly was a need for the Suites that opened this year. The suites have 2 rooms- living room/kitchenette, and bedroom. And bathroom. Two flat screen TV's! Refrigerator and microwave. The beds are new, and the mattresses were extremely comfortable. There is a common room on the second floor with a refrigerator stocked with eggs, milk, breads etc. That room had a magnificent view to the Bay. If you worked late, there was always food. I often ate with other guests and talked with them. Page and John are always helpful and kind. Highly recommended.

This hotel was a bit of a surprise. Page and John, who is also the mayor of Rankin Inlet, run a clean, cheerful establishment. The rooms are equipped with matching bed linens and the individually controlled thermostats kept the room comfortable despite the -35C weather outside. The breakfast room is stocked with a variety of bread, baked goods, fruit and cereals. Tim Horton's coffee available on demand and cold filtered filtered water in the frig!

This is a new, very well maintained bulding on the water in Rankin Inlet. The rooms are very clean, all rooms have televisions and private bathrooms. There is also a coffee room that is very well stocked with breads, juice fruits and fresh muffins every morning. The best part of this location however is the owners. They are very friendly and welcoming people who are quite knowledgable about the area, its history , its culture and even its flora and fauna. To top it all off, if you are visiting in the winter and you are lucky the owners may even take you out with one of their champion dog sled teams.
