The Nanuq Lodge is a great option when staying in Rankin Inlet. Before you go to Rankin, be aware that you do need to plan in advance because it is very common for hotels to fill up completely.
Page and John are kind and thoughtful people who go out of their way to be welcoming. They often provide small extras, such as picking guests up at the airport or baking fresh muffins each morning.
The lodge has basic rooms and suites. I have stayed in the basic rooms twice. Each has an ensuite bathroom, a desk, phone, bed and television. The rooms each have Inuit art or wall hangings. Rooms are warm and comfortable. From the rooms facing the water, at night you can sometimes view the Northern lights from your room window. Truly spectacular.
Continental breakfast is included, toast with jam/peanut butter, cereals, juice, yogurt, muffins, coffee/tea.
I haven't stayed in the suites but they have a basic kitchen with a mini fridge and microwave.
In summary, this is a great option in Rankin, you get the feeling that Paige and John truly care. Tips. John has sled dogs. They are beautiful, however some people find them noisy or that they can be woken up by them. I've never had any trouble, but it is worth noting. Also, the internet at the hotel is sometimes unreliable.
