Stayed for three nights on our tour of Sri Lanka, had a separate villa in the grounds which was very comfortable and clean. Large veranda all the way around with seating, to sit and watch wildlife and listen to the birds. Large lake in grounds with beautiful kingfishers and a wide selection of other birds and monitors to spot. Lovely pool with seating kept tidy and clean, good bar with snacks and nice restaurant. Staff very friendly from reception right through the hotel. Small shop, travel agent for booking trips and a small library on site.Would love to stay here again.

There are so many good points to this hotel that you may well leave wishing you could stay longer.
It's excellently placed for visiting the cultural triangle; there's a lovely pool and sunbathing area; the grounds are extensive and filled with wildlife such as monkeys. monitors and mongoose. One can spend a long time watching the monkeys at really close range.
The food is of an excellent quality, and changes each night more than most other buffets I've known. There's freshly grilled meat and fish, and a separate dessert room.
Rooms are spacious, and we had a huge double bed. Ours did have a musty smell when you entered, and we didn't feel the bathroom was cleaned as well as it might have been, so this was the one area that let the hotel down a touch.
We had a very positive experience here, and would happily recommend it.

We spent 2 nights in a standard room with our 2 young children, and we spent a great time. My son loved "playing" with the monkeys that come right in front your door or on the roof to steal some food! We were half-board and the quality of the buffet was high. The swimming-pool and the huge park are a heaven after a day walk in the surrounding places. The location is good too, close to all the main attractions.

A lovely hotel and great base for visiting Sigiriya, ~Dambulla and Anuradhapura. There is a lovely large pool and a nature trail. We saw the monkeys but (fortunately) didn’t experience the problems other reviewers have mentioned, though the chipmonks were quite cheeky.

We were in our own bungalow which was tastefully furnished and had everything you may need as a tourist. A good variety of channels were available on the TV. We had a minibar, mosquito repellents were provided, as was tea/coffee and water.

We were staying on a B&B basis and the buffet breakfast in the large open dining room was excellent. On arrival in the afternoon we had some fantastic devilled curry from the bar snack menu, but the next day were disappointed immensely by the satay and crispy chicken. We had hoped to have dinner in the Thai restaurant only to find that it is apparently only open Thursday to Saturday - very disappointed. Also, you can’t order bar snacks when the buffet is in service.

There is nothing to see in the town so once your sightseeing is over you are stuck in your hotel and overall we enjoyed our stay, thought it was a quality hotel with good service and would recommend.

Cinnamon Lodge was an excellent first stop on our Sri Lankan holiday. We stayed for 3 days and enjoyed the pool, the meals and especially the wildlife.

Our children spent hours watching the monkeys & mongoose outside our room, the huge fish in the lake and feeding the chipmunks and squirrels around the pool/lake. We saw huge iguanas and many varieties of birds.

The meals were good and service was friendly but not intrusive. We also used room service a couple of times and were impressed, particularly with the children's meals - generous and obviously cooked to order.

The rooms were a highlight - spacious and a lovely ambience, including oil burners and quality toiletries. We had two rooms side-by-side and spent lots of time sitting on the verandah watching the kids play on the lawn, find monkeys & climb the trees.

Take the time to do a tour of the lodge's farm & butterfly walk, which was really interesting and only the cost of a tip to the guide. There are silver monkeys in the trees along the butterfly walk path - beautiful creatures, diff. to the common brown ones around the rooms. Stay still and they'll come down and play near you on the path.
We took an elephant trek and jeep safari - both fantastic experiences. In spite of our driver's efforts to get us to book with Walker's Tours who operate an office @ the hotel, we booked with a local tour operator (there are several just near the hotel entrance). It was less than half the price and both the 2 hour elephant trek and 3 hour jeep safari were longer than those offered by Walker's tours. A guide followed behind the elephant with our camera and took photos. He also made water lily hats and necklaces for each of us - nice touch!
