Not originally in our itinerary, and despite the hotel being full they managed to fit us into a nice room. A bungalow style room in the centre of the hotel grounds was pleasant enough, the pool was large, but busy, and the lake was beautiful (though did mean mosquitoes!)

Food was good, as were most places, and the staff helpful and attentive. And the location is great for sight-seeing in the The Medieval Capital Polonnaruwa and The Sigiriya Fortress.

Not five star, but a solid 3!

After almost a week of driving around Sri Lanka, it was a welcome change to stay somewhere for 2 nights rest and relaxation. And we chose the right place to do it !
Cinnamon Lodge was a real gem, a lovely setting by a lake, close to Sigariya, Dambulla and Polonnaruwa.
The rooms are located in small blocks, much like villas, around the grounds. We were in a deluxe room on the upper storey of such a block, and we thoroughly enjoyed the facilities both in the room, and around the rest of the hotel. The food was superb - a great choice of dishes at the buffet, with the main dishes cooked freshly for you, and a separate cool room for wonderful desserts !
The wildlife viewing was an added bonus: a giant squirrel and chipmunks joined us for an early morning breakfast, and monkeys patrol the grounds in family packs (so be careful if you leave things on your balcony !).
Cinnamon Lodge was one of the highlights of our stay in Sri Lanka.

we stayed in a suite in this hotel. the suite is great for a family as it has 2 bedrooms on 2 floors with 2 bathrooms and a seperate toilette. the suite also comes with a butler service.
the hotel is set in huge gardens which are more than great for the kids. the hotel grounds are full of animals (monkeys, squirrels, iguanas, monitors, birds) and also has a little farm with cows pigs and similar in the end. the pool is also very good for kids with a large paddling area and lots of shaded places. elephant rides are available just next to the hotel and also a huge national park is 10 minutes away.
the spa was average.
The staff is very nice and helpful, but unfortunately the standard of english is very low. i trued to order porridge for our kids and got watermelon juice :) also the food in the main retsaurant was just ok.

This is a beautiful hotel, the location is perfect for all the nature lovers. We arrived at the reception in the evening, not so friendly staff at the reception, they seem to be more busy wth some garden problem. Anyways, we checked in to a beautiful room. Their rooms are Beautiful Bungalows spreadout on the green. on the surrounding trees you could see giant squirrels eating away the jackfruit and lots of lovely butterflies. Their rooms and bathrooms are really pretty, but the service is not the best. We called for assistance and it took them around 30minutes to send someone.
The location of their restaurant is amazing, beautiful big pond where lots of colorful birds fly in to, and a very neat swimming pool. But the food was nothing exception, to be honest it was pretty bad.
So this is ok for a quick stop i guess.

Reading the other reviews on this site, we wish to second all the positive comments made......we were very impressed with the Cinnamon Lodge from the moment we arrived after a long journey from London. Being greeted with a cool towel and a fruit drink was exactly what we needed.

The room was lovely with a very modern and up to date decor and all the amenities you would expect. We even had our own gecko that lived in our roof! This proved to be indicative of the amount of wildlife that we would see whilst we were staying: squirrels, monkeys, geckos, monitor lizards....

We very much enjoyed the food at both breakfast and dinner, both of which were served buffet style. The choice and quality were both excellent.

We would highly recommend a visit to this hotel.
