Cinnamon the lodge was the most beautiful hotel out of the 7 hotels we stayed in during our Sri Lanka tour !
Large, spacious complex with different pavilions, beautiful garden with water parties and a fantastic swimming pool adjacent the open restaurant area.
Room (100) was large, well furnished, with king size bed and nice bathroom with a big shower.
Terrace on both sides of the room (front and back).
Nice touch was the aromatic thee-light in the room.
After this good experience with our accommodation we were even more surprised at diner...great selection of food (buffet style), although must admit that it was rather crowded and noisy during dinner time due to the many guest that stayed here in this period.
Special attention for the the separated and cooled desserts room, which was superb !!!
Pity that we did not stay longer in this hotel to get more out of this magnificent hotel.
Should stay here again without any doubt !

Could not fault the service or fabulous location, ideal for sightseeing. The local bird population is fascinating, and watching the monkeys treat it like home was amazing! The spa in the grounds was a cool retreat, and the ayuverdic spa in the village was simply wonderful. We enjoyed the range of food, although the vegetable curries were over hot, especially after the subtle flavours we had previously tasted. The evening singer was unecessary and spoilt the atmosphere, maybe more regional and less international?

This was the first of four hotels we stayed at in Sri Lanka this year. We stayed in a superior room and had one minor problem in the bathroom, NOT THAT, but a blocked sink. They immediately fixed it. To any who love wildlife, you will not be disappointed. We were surrounded by it. Just to mention what you will be unlucky to see: toque macaque monkies, langer monkies, chipmunks and giant squirrels at breakfast..... Indian pond herons, little egret and great white egret, brahminy kite, mongoose, giant kingfisher, large lizards that I cannot tell you the names of but all to be seen within the grounds. Just magical.

The food is excellent especially if you enjoy curry. You will have a constantly changing choice. The fresh fruit and cereal choice at breakfast along with, yes... More curry was varied and pleasurable.

The staff were not insincere, they made conversation and it was heartfelt. It is a warm and homely hotel that fully deserves its 5 stars. I would recommend it to anyone as a base for the cultural triangle and if anything we would have traded days from our other choices to stay longer here. Also tipping for bag boys and room cleaner is essential anything of 100 rupees per bag and per day for the room cleaner who was very pleasant. Most the room cleaners in Sri Lanka are male. The women are all picking tea or mending roads. I think that says it all :-)

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely hotel. Beautifully set out with views into the distance of the lake (round which we went for an elephant ride). The pool was just right, the food very good, service impeccable and our room lovely. They put flowers and a farewell message out for us on our last evening. Thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: If stairs are a problem tell them as suites are in separate lodges with two floors

After a long and hairy drive it was great to be welcomed with a refreshing apple drink as we checked into this delightful hotel. Check in was efficient and we were lead through the very extensive grounds to our well appointed rooms (detached 2 storey bungalows). The rooms were comfortable, well appointed and stylish. It's a bit of a hike back to the the restaurants and bars (try the dry Martini) and you'll certainly need an umbrella if it is raining. We went a la carte in the smaller air conditioned restuarant and the food and service was good though the wine list was not up to date ( they are restocking) so we ended up with our third choice which was fine. The main dining room gets busy with tour groups so go a la carte to escape the hordes.
The breakfast was very good indeed - a huge range of international dishes (try the egg hopper) - perhaps the best breakfast I have experienced in many years of extensive travel. A tip though is not to take a table at the poolside as the squirrels and monkeys are expert at stealing food. They are very cute and fun to watch but I'd worry about hygiene.
In summary , a great hotel and staging post and ideal for visiting Sigiriya and Dambulla.
