We stayed here for 3 nights and loved it infact we were planning our next visit before we had even left. Habarana is not a long way from Colombo so if you had to choose only one place to stay choose the Cinnamon Lodge. The gardens , the design, the lake and the amazing wildlife provide a mix of all that is great about Sri Lanka, it is close by to many of the best sightseeing destinations, so is well placed for activities and elephant rides etc. This hotel is well maintained , I agree that cleanliness in the rooms needs to be watched- tourists do not like dirty rooms! especially at that standard its a given that the should be immaculate. The pool is perfect, huge and well tended with great staff. We stayed in a deluxe room worth the few extra dollars amazingly alot of the hotels in sri lanka are not used to offering or even selling upgrades to visitors so we found out rather late in our trip that they have suites which are amazing but seem to find it difficult to get you a price ??? The men on checkin are better than the women who seem task orientated and forget about the people aspect- our account was wrong on checkout and we had prepaid but they still wanted to charge us taxes -prepaid in full means prepaid in full Cinnamon Lodge??? The rooms are colourful and stylish, nice assortment of furniture
The checkin was not welcoming or friendly and the women there do not invite a return visit. and take too long to respond to enquiries. In Sri lanka they like you to sit down for everything which is not always a relaxing choice especially when you have been sitting for hours in the car- they seem to want you to sit down so that they can take their time serving you- say no it freaks them out !!!!
No info on food and beverage in the rooms like alot of SL hotels and the turndown service was good when it happened, housekeeping all over the place .The bar and restaurant staff are fantastic and yes this hotel does do some of the best food you will have . They really care about this aspect of your stay and the chefs are very proud of all the food on display. Special thanks to the duty manager who helped us with a luggage problem and Kumara and Srimal who we enjoyed talking to. The location is hypnotically beautiful almost magical and very photogenic. you will have a great time here. They need to have low fat milk on the buffet, and info on their facilities there is a hidden library upstairs we found on the last day.
