We had a nice stay at this hotel but not sure it quite lives up to the price tag, although it was clearly very popular.
Plus points were the setting, breakfast buffet was o.k. we had a lovely meal in the separate (not buffet) restaurant, the buffet restaurant was o.k. depending on what you want to eat. My gripe with the breakfast service is staff encouraging people to feed the monkeys and squirrels from the restaurant which results in the animals having learned to 'attack' the tables to grab items then run off.
Rooms were nicely kept and flowers were a nice touch.
On the downside it was expensive for the standard, more could have been done to prevent mosquitos in the rooms and common areas. We didn't use the spa as the spa prices were pretty expensive - prices for a massage were higher than what we pay in London! They did provide drivers quarters but on the first night they didn't tell us no beds were available so we were a bit embarrassed to find out the next day our driver had to sleep in this car the first night. I have a feeling this is the best hotel in the area but would be tempted to try somewhere else on my next visit.

Room Tip: Try the smaller a la carte restaurant by the pool!

We stayed in one of the houses (rooms 45 & 46) with a separate room on the ground flour and on the first floor. No connecting rooms. It all looked very new. The rooms are very well furnished. Nice new LCD TV with some useful channels (Cartoon net for the children) and of course a safe. Very good and nice looking restaurant, great breakfast. Fine swimming pool. Nice gardens, although when we stayed here (aug. 2010) they were still working on the grass and the gardens. Attentive staff, at the birthday of one of us the staff sang a birthday song when presenting the cake I ordered. This is a rather big place (make sure to find your way back from the restaurant) with a lot of rooms but somehow it doesn't feel too big. This is an ideal base to explore Sigyria, Polunnaruwa, Minneriya national park etc.

Cinnamon Lodge Habarana was refurbished and reopened in November 2010. As rightly stated, since then there have been many improvement to the accomodation as well as the property as a whole. Its location in the centre of the cultural triangle makes it the perfect base to explore the history of the country.

This a great hotels to stay in for visiting all the sites. The rooms are big and modern and the pool is good. Lots of wildlife around - monkeys, rock squirrels, beautiful birds and mongoose. There is a lake nearby which attracts lots of herons and water birds. We actually saw an eagle catch a small squirrel. The food is excellent but dinner is very busy and can be quite stressful. There is a seperate cold room for cakes, puddings, ice creams and fruit which is really good if you are a chocoholic!

Thank you for choosing Cinnamon Lodge Habarana for your holiday. We are pleased that you enjoyed the wild life in the surrounding environs and the culinary delights. The truffles in the dessert room are hand crafted by our very own chocolatier, a favourite with anyone with a sweet tooth.

Simplyone of the best hotels I have stayed in over the last ten years. The rooms were spacious, clean and well maintained, spread about in quiet wooded gardens overlooking small lakes, with a large lake at the rear.
The restaurant served a good variety and the chilled sweets room was spectacular, my wife thought she had died and gone to heaven. The staff were very friendly and profesional, nothing being too much trouble. Will I go back, most definitely.
And I must mention the wild life, what an incredible variety within easy viewing, with plenty of strategically seats. It was common to have a Grey Headed Fish Eagles roosting in the tree right outside our balcony, also Crested Hark-eagledid the same, although that particular bird sent everything else scurrying for cover. We saw over a hundred different types of bird in the gorunds alone, including Bee Eaters, five different types of King Fisher, Horn Bills, Storks and Ibis the list goes on and on, a birders paradise. And that's not mentioning the monkeys, squirrels, monitor lizards etc, a truly beutifull place. If you want a quiet, beautiful hotel, crawling with wildlife you could not do better than Cinnamon Lodge.
Sorry but I can't find anything negative to say about the place

Cinnamon lodge is one of the best hotels in Sri Lanka with a very tranquil atmosphere, friendly staff, delightful and delicious spread of dishes and desserts. Go there in dry season and travel to Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya, Anuradhapura while you are there. Don’t miss Minneriya national park if you are wildlife lover (lots of elephants).

We got there and the hotel grounds were under water and it didn't stop raining for five days. The hotel made us most welcome and did its best to mitigate the effects of the flooding. The room was comfortable although slightly dated. The food was in the main good, although the currys could do with labelling to indicate their strength. You could have freshly cooked food and freshly prepared salads. The sweets in the giant chilled room were excellent. Drinks could have been served quicker, but hey we were on holiday so time is not important.
When the floods stared to recede we could see the beauty of the grounds and when the sun shone it could be a little slice of paradise. The staff had worked really hard to clean up the mess left by the receding floods.
If you get the chance go, as its in an ideal base for visiting the sites in central Sri Lanka.

We stayed in a suite with a butler for a couple of nights and it was really good. The location is ideal for touring Sigiriya and stopping for a break if going from Colombo to Trincomalee. The staff are really friendly and the food was some of the best we tasted in Sri Lanka. Limited entertainment on an evening but we managed to get some people up dancing to the singer who was on. The wildlife around the hotel is interesting, we had a mongoose running around the restaurant floor during breakfast.
