It’s not an Kenyan safari. It’s a drive with dozens of other vehicles fighting to surround a few elephants who are hard to see in the high grass. It’s elephants only and we got up close to them. It was sad as this was not nature in action but more of a drive around zoo. But, if you can’t go to Africa, then take the drive. $60 via hotel or $35 a person if you find one of many drivers around time.

We only saw a few elephants, and they were far away. The ride is rough and long but driving through the jungles is wonderful.

It was a sunny day we visited Hurulu Echo Park with friends. It’s much greener park these days with herds of elephants gathered feeding on grass and trees.
Safari Jeep cruised along muddy off roads arching elephants and birds. It was such amazing tour with elephants standing close to vehicles.
Two of the watching points o two large rocks provides a 360 degree view which is pleasing at the sunset.
Although the tall bushes obstructs the full view of larger bulls , the sceneries are beautiful.
Can recommend this lark for a half day visit......

We had planned to do a safari at one of the two nearby national parks (Minneriya and Kaudulla), but there has been a lot of rain and flooding recently, so they were both not possible.

This was an enjoyable option. We had a great driver and guide, recommended by our driver.

It was fun, and entertaining, drive through the picturesque forest. We saw a handful of elephants almost immediately, but then it was a bit of a struggle to spot more.

Through exchanges between the various drivers you could tell it was a bit of a frustrating day...

But then we were treated to a few encounters with larger groups, including several adorable babies and juveniles.

Because viewing was difficult the day we were there, when these herds were spited they were swarmed with jeeps. Still, the animals were mostly given amble room.

Having only ever seen elephants in less than ideal circumstances - zoos, long ago circuses and the like, it was exciting to see the up close and in their natural environment.

Entrance fees and payment to our guide were still quite affordable (roughly $60 US). Be aware that tickets can only be purchased with Sri Lankan rupees (no credit cards or USD accepted).

The national parks promise the opportunity to see more animals, but under the circumstances this was very good.

This is a park you can definitely see wild elephants in the jungle. You can hire a safari jeep at the entrance where you buy the ticket. A must do for tourists to see wild Elephants
