We (with children aged 16, 13 and 9) stayed here for 5 nights in total, 3 first and then returned for 2 more nights after a short break. We all enjoyed our time here at Jays. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, and enjoyed the little touches, like my son's fried eggs one morning were decorated like a face, which he enjoyed. The bungalows are arranged in pairs around the grounds, and we occupied 4 of them over our time here. We personally preferred the slightly older bungalows, as they had more character, rather than the 2 newer rooms we had had for our first visit. The tree house was great, though scary to climb up (my words, not the kids). We had a great sleep here as the resort is very quiet, and there were many birds/insects and other wildlife to look at. The pool is good, although some of the tile edges were sharp and the children had a few cuts on their feet from those. Jay told us that sometime soon he will refurbish the pool area, so hopefully that will sort that issue out. It didn't stop us from using the pool, we were just more careful. In a few years, once the many plants have matured, the resort will be even more attractive. Due to its position slightly outside the town, it is not an easy walk into Habarana, but we did walk it in about 25 hot, dusty and eventful minutes.

Having struggled to get a family room at Sirgrya we widened our search and found Jays. If you want a resort style break this is perfect, personally we would have preferred to have been within walking distance of the local town and had the opportunity to sample local food. (that was our mistake)
However, the staff could not have been any better, they were keen without being annoying, but at the same time were always on hand to help. They arranged an Elephant Safari for us which was fantastic, and our children loved the pool.

We turned up at this hotel for a 3 night stay during our tour of Sri Lanka. As a developing country we were prepared for our accomodation to be rustic however the pool was so filthy we were able to etch our names in the grime on the pool walls. The tiles were raising revealing razor sharp edges. The chalets were basic but there were cracks where the bathroom was falling away from the bulding. The whole place had an air of not being finished. They were having planned power cuts in the area but the owner only saw fit to have a generator that would power the kitchen, I would suggest that one that would at least power the room fans might be in order. The food was less than average with the the restaurant staff trying to get you out as soon as possible during your evening meal. having walked around Harbarana it is obvious that you can still get the jungle retreat experience but with a lot more convenience than provided by this establishment.

The 2 of us stayed a total of 4 nights at Jay's. First 3 and then after a few days returned for one more night. The place is a bit remote which is part of its charm but also means you are not in walking distance from town. The highlights included exceptionally courteous staff always looking to make ones stay pleasant. They explained some of the nuances of Sri Lanka to us and helped us to feel welcome The food was absolutely great. Each meal was better than the last. The pool was cute but kind of small. But who really cared when surrounded by a rustic setting with such calm and serenity We'd highly recommend

Jays Provides very Good value for Money. Stayed there for 2 Nights and regret I didn't stay longer. We were in cabin no. 7. Clean, bright, large, good matrass and nice places to sit in front and on the backside. Food is surprisingly good. Personel is friendly and attentive. Jay is friendly and open and fun to talk to. He is a fair and reliable owner and host. Resort location is strategically ideal for various trips and at the same time silent, peaceful and remote in the midst of nature.

We stayed 3 days at Jays Holiday Resort at the end of July 2012 and had a great time there. After a long drive from Kandy to Dambulla and Habanara we arrived at Jays Holiday Resort in the early afternoon. A warm welcome was waiting there for us with a refreshing welcome drink and an ice-cold towel, which was quite perfect because of the heat. Check-In was fast and uncomplicated and our luggage already waiting for us in our very nice decorated room with every comfort you need. The room was very big and comfortable and we slept very well in our large bed. We had 2 verandas, one in front of the house and one on the backside with a great view to the jungle. Bathroom was also large and had 2 showers. All amenities you need where there (like shampoo, conditioner, etc.). The big pool was only some steps away and we enjoyed the fresh water there after our day trips to the old town of Polonaruwa and our safari to Miniriya National Park. We asked Jays to arrange these trips for us and everything was well managed. The owner, a very kind man, and his wife joined us during the safari and we had a lot of fun. He and his friendly and charming crew at Jays did everything to make us feel home there. For example: When We told them, that we love the Sri Lankan breakfast, which means rice, curry and string hopers, they arranged, that we had a Sri Lankan breakfast the next morning instead the very good American breakfast. Dinner was also very tasty and delicious and the chef is always open for special wishes. Jays is the perfect place to calm down and relax after a long sightseeing day in the cultural triangle but also a place to spend some wonderfull days far away from hectic and noise. It is also a good place for families because of the children's pool and the playground there. After 3 days we were really sad to leave Jays again, but we are sure, that we will come back to Jays on our next trip to Sri Lanka. Jays is one of this rare places you shouldn't miss when you are in Sri Lanka and the best choice if you prefer a personell, friendly atmosphere with all you need for a pefect stay. Thanks to Jay and his team!

What a great place to stay. From the moment we arrived to a glass of delicious juice, the cooling pool, charming room and the most delicious food we loved being at Jays. We only had one night here but would have happily stayed another night if we could have. It's ideally situated for the national park which we really enjoyed.
The kids loved the treehouse and we loved the peace of being in the jungle.
