“An excellent villa!”
Reviewed July 12, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Myself and 4 friends decided to stay in this villa for our holiday to Spain. The owners, Rebecca and her partner, were very helpful in answering the questions we had when booking our stay for the week and were very welcoming upon arrival and throughout our stay, even kindly buying us some food and drink so we did not have to immediately go shopping and booking our taxis to and from the airport.

The villa itself was excellent and exceeded all of our expectations. We made use of all of the many fantastic facilities there, including the swimming pool, jacuzzi, mini tennis and badminton courts, pool table and darts in particular. The kitchen is very modern, and we found ourselves cooking in there far more often than going out to restaurants in the town.

As for location, the villa is about a 15 minute walk downhill to the town of Alhaurin El Grande, although it took us slightly longer to walk back uphill in the high heat of the mid-afternoon! Additionally, the villa is about a 25 minute drive from Malaga Airport. In the town there are many restaurants and bars covering a wide range of different foods. There is one large main supermarket that we went to a couple of times, but also smaller shops closer by. The amount of activities to do and things to see in the town is fairly limited but it is very picturesque and surrounded by mountains.

Overall, we all very much enjoyed our time at this villa and would definitely return in the future!

“Perfect holiday location”
Reviewed August 12, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

This property ticked all the boxes on our list: plenty of space, only 30 or so minutes from Malaga airport and a similar distance from the coast, relatively quiet but not too remote, close enough to a town for local services but not in a busy or congested area.

Finding the property was straightforward, assisted by the very pleasant and helpful local man who looks after the property for the owner. He met us at a nearby petrol station and led the way to the house, he then showed us around and explained everything we needed to know, including when to expect gardeners and pool maintenance to turn up.

The house is lovely; tastefully furnished and decorated with loads of space. It is fully equipped with all appliances, every necessary kitchen utensil, towels and bed linen. We loved the pool and spent a lot of time there; it is clean and safe and well maintained with a wide terrace for sunbathing. The hot-tub sits in the corner of an attractive courtyard and seats 6 comfortably. The gardens are delightful, thoughtfully laid out and well looked after. During our stay at the end of July the trees were loaded with citrus fruits and pomegranates alongside many flowering plants, cacti and, of course, palm trees. The path leading down to the gym is framed by a grape vine that was also laden with fruit. There are several televisions and a music system but we did not make use of these. We did, however, need internet access and found that the broadband service was very good.

Alhaurin El Grande is a fairly ordinary small town with a couple of decent supermarkets, shops, banks and plenty of restaurants. Our favourite was Carolina, which is on the main road into the town, within walking distance of the property. We had a birthday celebration dinner there; the meal was excellent and the service very friendly and attentive.

The nearest beach is probably Fuenjirola; a typical Costa del Sol urban beach with miles of promenade backed by hotels, restaurants, gift shops and apartment blocks. We preferred La Cala de Mijas, a couple of km further, which is smaller and quieter, with a seaside village ambiance but still plenty of restaurants, bars and shops.

Overall we had a great, stress free holiday experience and I hope we can go back again.
