We recently visited this restaurant and have to say that the whole experiece was not enjoyble. The restaurant was very busy and there was only one person taking all food and drink orders which lead to very lengthly delays in the service.

We was brought a basket of bread as soon as we sat down which we did not ask for, thinking it was complimentary however found that we was charged for this on our final bill!! We wanted to have the paella thinking it would be traditionally made (which was rather expensive as was for 2 person minimum) was really dissapointed with the quality, we left almost all of it, one main course was served 10 minutes after my partners which meant they had nearly finished by the time the other main came.

Due to the large amount of paella left the waiter then advised that it was not a traditional paella and only then advised what the ingredients was...... bit too late for that knowledge!

We left rather quickly after and didnt stay for dessert!

Would not recommend and would not visit again, found it very expensive for what was received.

When I first arrived in Spain (2000) friends raved about this 'rustic, traditional restaurant'... But we have only ever found it slow on service, noisy with the locals (they are not known for their peacefulness!), and the food - well - basic at best and over priced for what it is. Even with the new 'improvements' since the new roundabout was built, we are not fans of this place. We like a nice ambiance and GVFM.

We always visit here at weekends when there is a barbecue. The restaurant is always full by 2.30pm so lots of people enjoy what the restaurant provides. I have never seen waiters who work harder trying to keep everyone served. It is sometimes hard to catch a waiter for the bill. This time I just went up to a waiter when he was at an a nearby table and the bill soon came. I usually have a pork kebab with a baked potato and soured cream ( I think) The serving is generous, the meal delicious and I think it is good value for money. The restaurant has upgraded its terrace and resurfaced and extended the car park- it was full when we left. Infinitely better than the places that serve cheap "menus"

It has been 7 years since we ate at Los Morenos, Alhaurin el Grande - because it was rude service, scruffy oily food and more a cafe like surroundings. But we thought we would re-visit to see if it was any better....
A new road design has enable the restaurant to create a very pleasant outside seating area with a tasteful "water" grotto as a centre feature... but there the difference from 7 years ago ends! The service was better, but the food was ugly, greasy and very small portions...plus the price has increased as if there were no recession... most restaurants in Alhaurin el Grande (for lunch times) have reduced their prices back to the same as 8/9 years ago.... customers are hard to come by these days!! But Los Morenos charges as if times were rich...
For example:
I had Lomo en Manteca - 7.50 euros............ pork and french fries. I can go to Restaurante Miralmonte (between Alhaurin el Grande and Coin) and for 7.50 euros I can have a 3 course lunch of Spag. Bol., Rosada Plancha and Ice cream...AND a bottle of San Miguel!!

So...in 7 years little has changed and I don't expect it to change over the next 7 years....

Oh some much better places to eat....

In Spanish terms this is a standard restaurant, standard fayre towards the basic end. Service can be a bit hit and miss having had orders forgotten or wrong meals bought up. Some people rave about the place ( as it is cheap and cheerful), but for us there are better spanish restaurants in town.... location is next to a BP petrol station on the outskirts of town. There are no views, as recent road changes have "buried" the restaurant below road level....
