“Great place in M'hamid”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

Great hotel in M'hamid. Oasis of peace after a roadtrip through Morocco. Nice possibility to come to a complete rest. Only 2 days we stayed here, including a great 1 day trip into the desert, organized by the hotel. The swimming pool, and also the cold beer, were a great surprise for us.
Further, the personnel was great and helpful, especially Ahmed and Ibrahim.
Good food, although the portions were very large.

The rooms were nice as well, large. The only minor point was a bug in the wood of the toilet door, chewing its way through the wood.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone visiting M'hamid.

Hamada du Draa is literally at the end of the road, before one ventures into the Sahara sands. We spent two nights at the hotel and one at their desert bivouac. We were lucky enough to be the only guests at the bivouac, and the night in the desert with our Berber guide and driver was the most memorable time of our two-week Morocco visit. Hassan, owner of Hamada, is a charming host, and he has hired people from the nearby village for his staff at the hotel and as guides/drivers for the trips he arranges. Everything about our experience was in the spirit of the famous desert hospitality. Even the obligatory camel ride turned out to be a wonderfully memorable experience as we wandered down sand paths through a nearby walled settlement, past wheat harvesting. We enjoyed the company of those who took care of us--very pleasant, competent people with lifetimes in the desert to share. No obsequious waiters or overly gabby staff. We liked it all very much.

Room Tip: Go at a quiet time so the bivouac is uncrowded.

It was our first time to M'Hamid. The architecture and landscape of Hamada du Draa is very interesting and it is at close proximity of the small town. The hotel arranged our travel to the desert and a fascinating night at a bivouac in Erg Chigaga. They also arranged a magical Camel trip and meals. The experience was very authentic and one night we had music in the camp. We have amazing memories of our trip--

we spent three days in Hassan’s comfortable and individual constructed lodge . One night we spent in the desert with 4x4 in his camp beside the high dunes. It was quite interesting to see how different the desert can be. We enjoyed the special atmosphere and the conversation with Hassan and his friendly young men who helped him. They told us a lot of real stories of the nomade life of their families. Thank you for unforgetable days.
Best regards, Cordula and Donald from Germany.
