“View of your dreams in Umbria (forget about Tuscany)”
Reviewed July 16, 2011

Enrico was a wonderful host and even picked us up and dropped us off at the train station in Assisi. The grounds of the house are wonderful, the view from our room, the Amalfi room was like a dream looking out over the rolling hills, sunflower fields with Assisi, Monte Falco and Cannara in sight.
Breakfast was very pleasant, the room and bathroom was comfortable, clean and pleasant. Their dog is a wonderful, friendly outside only pet that is well behaved around people.
We did not have a car so Enrico was friendly enough to drop us off and pick us up in town, but I recommend having a vehicle if you stay here so you can make the most of the visit. The primary reason we stayed here was because we did the day long wine tour with Gusto Wine Tours of Umbria and it was the highlight of our vacation in Italy!

Room Tip: best with a vehicle

The place is very clean and nicely decorated. The owners are extremely nice and welcoming. You can manage with English only, but some Italian is an advantage. The location suits people who come to visit Umbria, because it is 2 km away from Cannara and about 9 km from Assisi and from Bevagna which turned out to be a very nice village. The place is very quiet. The breakfast is a tipical Italian one, with yogurt, cake and coffee. The price was a little high for the location. In Cannara, we visited a very good resturant called PerBacco, we really enjoyed the decoration and the food there. We really enjoyed our stay in Elgaro.

My husband Paul and myslf and our daughter Elizabeth stayed at Elgaro for four nights. Enrico and Ide are absolutly wonderful people. They could not have done more for us, ...warm and welcoming and kind.. Elgaro is their home and it is beautiful ... clean, modern, comfortable. The guests stay downstairs and have their own baths and are separate form the owner's livng quarters. Enrico also makes delicious cakes for breakfast.!
We simply had a wonderful time and it was becasue of the owners great generosity and care. They deserve great success in this endeavor.

My husband and I had the priviledge to be Enrico and Ida's first American visitors. This newly remodeled B & B was fantastic and just what we were seeking after a week touring the big cities of Italy. Nestled amongst olive trees and farm houses, Enrico and Ida have literally opened up their home. All of the furnishings, bedding, and amenities are brand new and you can tell a great deal of care and thought was put into their purchase. The owners, you can immediately tell, did not spare any expenses. We stayed in the Almafi room which had an adjoining terrazo. The views were breathtaking! Enrico, aside from being quite entertaining to talk with, is a wonderful cook!! Breakfast consisted of homemade jams (!!!) and a tasty homemade torta. There was also yougurt, juice, espresso, teas, breads and cereal available. I believe we could have even ordered a hot breakfast at no extra charge. In each room, there is a small refridgerator with beverages and snacks at a nominal cost. A safe is also provided in each room for your valuables. The property is phenominal. I can't say enough about the spanning views of the countryside. Because the B & B is slightly outside of town, you will need a car or transportation to it. Town isn't far and there is lots to do if you just want to laze around the property. Enrico told me they still are expanding...can't imagine why, as it's a perfect destination already. He produces their own olive oil, which we just missed, and they have their own organic vegtable/fruit garden there on the property. Their dog Kitchum is a hoot and a willing partner if you want to go off the property for a walk or run. I highely recommend this B & B. You will not be disappointed!
