“Superb property”
Reviewed August 5, 2018 for a stay in July 2018

Lovely property set in a stunning hillside. Total escape from the hustle and bustle of busy life. Well appointed comfortable accommodation with everything you need for your stay. Beautiful gardens and grounds , large clean pool , outdoor BBQ and seating area . Perfect for chilling in the evenings and a great atmosphere at night when the garden lighting comes on. In laws used the Annex and were very happy with the feeling of being in their own holiday home but yet still together with us. They did say a small fridge would’ve been ideal so they could keep drinks cool without having to go to the main house.
The house is quite remote , so a car is essential. Could be difficult to find if journey not planned out ahead of time (especially if travelling from Rome) The property is sited on a single track gravel road so be sure to follow directions carefully! We had no issues though as we found it on google earth before we went
Local towns have some great restaurants , highly recommend Fidalma in Sorano. The Local butcher in Sorano is very good value and has excellent cuts on offer, also a fruit and veg store and mini market are there for basics. Supermarkets are a bit more of a drive but worth it for stocking up.
Pitigliano is picture postcard worthy and Sovana is also with a visit.
We also visited Orvieto , Bomarzo Monster Park , Vulci and Lake Bolsena amongst others. There’s lots to do in the area.
HIGHLY recommend seeking out some of the many Vie Caves in the area and going for a hike. Stunning. Do some research before you go about the Etruscan paths , and this property is in a perfect place to get off the beaten path and explore the area and the many paths that connect the towns from thousands of years ago.

Pamela and Cesare were perfect hosts , flexible and welcoming and couldn’t have been more helpful.

I’d have no hesitation in booking this a second time if I wanted to go back to the same area.

“Fantastic house and soroundings”
Reviewed July 29, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We traveled two adults and a teenager and lived in this lovely house for a week in late July 2014.
The pictures of the house and its surroundings at the Holiday Lettnings website does not do justice to this amazing property.

The house is very successful and respectfully renovated and decorated with beautiful old wooden furniture that fits the house and the surroundings. The main house includes a fully equipped kitchen, dining / living room with large fireplace, and 1st floor two large bedrooms and a bathroom. The shady porch is furnished with dining table and sofa set.
The newly built annexe in the garden contains additional beds, bathroom and veranda with dining area, but since we were only three people we had no access to this.

The park-like garden consists of old oaks, olive trees, fig trees, lavender, roses and like the house very well maintained. Throughout the property there are stunning views of the valley and mountains, but we found the most beautiful view from the pool area.

The garden watered automatically every night and is fresh and green, even in the warm months. There are automatic lights throughout the garden from 21 pm. to 2 am and late nights on the porch or by the pool is highly recommended.

The house and the garden with pool area is very private and next to last house at the end of a long dirt road blind. The only sounds here come from nature and sheep dogs from the nearby village.

The medieval towns of Sorano and Pitigliano are close to and are suitable if you prefer to dine out. We preferred Pitigliano, where there is a nice nightlife and many restaurants.

The service from both Holiday Lettings and from the owners Pamela and Cecario was fantastic. The house was very easy to find, based on the descriptions and we received a comprehensive information about the area with tips on attractions, restaurants and shopping.

The owners were on the property to welcome us and met us again very early in the morning of the following Saturday, when we had to leave early to Rome.
Cecario was on the property early in the morning on Tuesday and Thursday to clean the pool and check the ph value. On that first occasion Cecario left a big basket of fresh vegetables / fruit from the garden and a bottle of red wine.

“Lovely quiet and remote place”
Reviewed September 2, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

If you want to stay in a house away from the tourist centers this is ideal. It has a great pool and outdoors area. Feels almost like a park. Several places in the garden, where you can sit depending on whether you want sun or shadow. We spent many evenings in the soft chars on the terrace.
The house is undisturbed even though some family of the owners live in the second half of the house. The houses are back-to-back, so you are not overlooked in the garden. The road leading to the house is a dead end, so there is almost no traffic.
Despite getting lots of directions we had a hard time finding the place. It would be good with a reference to put into the GPS.
The toilet and bedrooms are on the first floor. You can sleep 3 in one bedroom and 2 in the other. There is no dishwasher.
The house is well placed for seeing Pitigliano, Sorano and Sovana. Our favorite was Pitigliano, but also the more derelict Sorano had a lot of charm. We personally didn't find Sovano that interesting - a one-street tourist town with Etruscan graves, which is obviously fine if you are into that.
For eating out we also preferred Pitigliano, which has a good selection of places.
