Kyriad A Disneyland Paris
Ranked #6 of 8 Hotels in Magny-le-Hongre
Reviewed May 29, 2014

We have just returned from a 4 night break at the Kyriad. We were part of a school party consisting of 82 students and 12 adults. We have stayed at this hotel an a number of occasions but I am sorry to report that it has gone back severely since our last visit 2 years ago.

Kyriad is probably the French equivalent of Travelodge so only expect 2/3 star service here. There are no tea/coffee facilities in the room and no fridge, although there is a free safe. The bathroom is well equipped with clean towels every day. The beds were firm and there were decent pillows. The rooms are starting to look a bit tatty and could do with an uplift. Eg. marks on the bath, chipped tiles, damaged light shades and stained carpets/furniture.

The communal areas also look a bit dated but there are vending machines for essentials and a small Disney shop in the reception area. The lift was out of order for the full 5 days we were there so if you have mobility issues this could cause problems.

My main gripe with this hotel lies with the staff. It would be my guess that there has been a change of management since we were last here and customer service had clearly moved down on their list of priorities. Staff do not know how to deal with complaints and some are down right rude. The lady who administers the check-in procedure for breakfast is clearly in the wrong vocation. She snapped at students and staff for their room numbers and was miserable, just what you want in the morning. In the evening a gentleman is in charge of the restaurant. He has clearly been promoted into this position simply because he moves around a lot. He has zero organisational skills and even less customer service skills. He asked that our party didn't take as much food from the 'all you can eat' buffet... really? Having paid in advance for this I think it is very rude for a member of senior hotel staff to request that you restrict your food intake to save on hotel costs. He would also stand and stare at the students as they were moving along the buffet which I thought was quite intimidating. He singled out one of the students as they sat down telling them that they had taken too much. The student in question had a perfectly acceptable amount of food on their plate so I decided to complain to the restaurant manager about this. As I began to tell him about my complaint he could understand me full well. As we got through the conversation he then decided that he could not speak English and couldn't understand what I was trying to say... how convenient. He would also try and rush us through to make room for other parties.

The food itself was OK but not as good as 2 years ago. Nothing was labelled which put the students off as they didn't know what things were. Subsequently they ended up eating economy chicken nuggets and chips for 4 nights. Breakfast was fine, most students were happy with croissants and nutella. You get the impression they are trying to cut costs wherever they can, which is understandable, but should this be at the cost of customer service and experience?

The bar closes at 11pm and is expensive. €6.50 for a pint of Heineken?? Its £1.99 in my local pub so I think their prices were extortionate for a 2 star hotel.

If you can afford to spend a little more on a hotel go to the Dream Castle, Magic Circus or the Explorers hotels, which are all on the same road. The Kyriad needs a new management team, some staff who are experienced with the concept of being helpful and smiling and maybe a lick of paint!

Dear Ross,

First of all, thank you for having chosen again our hotel Kyriad at Disneyland Paris.
Thank you for having share with us your expereience during your last stay, to improve our services for our clients.
Concerning the tea and coffee facilities, we inform you that we do not provide this service since two years.

The most important is your feelings regarding the bahaviour of our staff in the restaurant and we have informed the general manager who take particularly in charge the problem.
Of course, we regret the bad feelings you had with this situations and we apologize for this siutation.

This is a great alternative to the onsite Disney hotels. A room for 4 has 4 single beds (bunk beds on our case) which is perfect as my children are rubbish sleeping together in a double bed. Everyone slept well and the bus dropped you right next to Disney village and 200m from gates to both parks. Fab.

Hotel is clean, rooms small but ok for sleep :-) Big problem is in the morning at the breakfast time, staff let us stay in the line with small kids and big group of adults can go... Also when we have technical problem, we waited very long time for fixing. Shuttle bus is every 15-25minutes, what is great.

Dear Borekn,

Thank you for having chosen our hotel Kyriad at Disneyland Paris for your last stay.
Further your comment regarding the file at the restaurant, it is similar to the Disneyland Parks and people have to file even the have got children.
Indeed, the hotel is a family hotel and we cannot ignore people which are coming without children.
For the technical point, our service is quiet quick in their intervention but we have informed them to make ii as fast as possible in their future interventions.

Hoping to welcome you again soon, please do accept our best regards.

This place is brutal! I have one more night to sleep here and I really don't want too! The first room they gave us had food all over the wall disgusting! Asked for a room with a double bed instead of two twin beds. The new room stinks! Like smelly stink. Not clean! Shower curtain has something that resembles black mold on it! Probably is. The sign on the door says please put your noise on silent.. You can here everybody running around yelling. Laid in bed and the cleaners are yelling at each other! This place is a dive I do not recommend it to anyone!
The only Plus side is the bus is cleaner then the hotel and gets you to disneyland quick!

I usually am very accepting of how things are done in other countries, but when we were at the kyriad, they were just not at all worth the price we paid.. I could overlook the food still stuck on the dishes at breakfast, the tiny closet size room, the leaking tub, the only sometimes working wifi, and being far away from everything, but I can not overlook the fact that their front reception staff knew nothing about costumer service or public relations.
They were rude, abrupt, not helpful and it was like pulling teeth just to get them to look into something for us, and when they finally did it was with eye rolling and obviously an inconvenience.. Basically they were useless, there had to be at least 2 working at a time so they could validate between them all that none of them knew anything.. I'm a very independent traveler, and google did more for me than they did, but if I had to depend on them for help, I would have been lost..
I do not recommend this place.. I've been in everything from a hostel to a 5 star hotel, and this was just the worst service.. they could not even do an upgrade for a room, because they 'just can't when it's already booked and paid for' even though space was available.. I was just so disappointed..

My daughter stayed at this hotel on a school trip. The room she stayed in was broken into and valuables and money taken, the room was trashed. It would appear that this has happened many times previously. Beware.

Very close to Disneyland Paris, it's a functional hotel just for sleeping. The closets are very small and if you are there with your family (4 people) and for more than 3 days it becomes very hard to store everything.
Cleaning is not at the maximum levels, the Restaurant is 4 out of 10 mostly, due to the cleaning situation (the dishes and glasses are always wet and dirt, due to the approximation in the washing system). The food is "medium range". And it's not so cheap.
Pillows are too soft and for small kids you have to pay attention for their breathing.
the bed vas "aged" and not very comfortable.
The staff is not exactly friendly and helpful, even if it is "functional".
Carpets are dirty in the corridors and also in the rooms. We found an empty cigarettes box under the bed.
No facilities as gym, swimming pool or sauna/spa that close hotels have in their services offer. However, honestly, the cost is balanced with the (poor) offer, but a minimum of more attention to those that are not only "details" should be given. After all it is a 3 stars hotel, not a 5 stars, but neither a 1 star...

Room Tip: there is only a "one size room" so if you are 4 people the space is limited, especially if...
