“Fantastic Hotel, brilliant for the kids!”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

We had an amazing stay at Explorers! The swimming pool was fantastic and kept my nephew entertained for hours!
We had a crew room, which was very clean and comfortable which was what we needed after a LONG day at the park! :)
Marco's Pizzas are a must, fantastic value and delicious!
We would 100% stay at Explorers again!

A very average hotel where the staff seem to have forgotten that everyone who arrives is on holiday and would like a warm welcome. We were given room 310 on arrival but struggled to sleep due to no air conditioning and being just above the outside bar area. We did get moved the 2nd night, which was great but still to another room without air conditioning. Apparently the only rooms with any air conditioning are the suites, so be warned in August. Also if you want to use the pool and you're male, remember to take your speedos as shorts aren't allowed.
Having said all of that, we stayed there as it was much cheaper than the Disney hotels and is definitely only a 3 star hotel but has a really great bus service to Disneyland Paris and to the train station where it's easy to get the train to the centre of Paris so location is really good.

Room Tip: Boys, remember your speedos and if you drive there and can get a fan in your car, I'd recommend...

We stayed for 5 nights with 2 year old and five year old. The swimming pool is great for pirate lovers and open from early till 11 at night. The outside play area was ok with a pirate ship to climb but nothing else to do outside. The ball pool kept the kids entertained but bigger kids made it quite unsafe at times. The crew room we booked was ok, clean enough but under furniture was dusty and the tps and shower head could of done with a better clean.
The inside pirate ship was good for the kids to explore but again unsafe when bigger children are jumping off the sides.
They have a disney themed shop selling toys and gifts but nothing else. Until 5pm there isn't much happening in the hotel, bar is closed and resturant. The small hut sells overpriced drinks and sandwiches and snacks. We had a meal in the hotel resturant which was a buffett it wasn't very nice, the dinning room was infested with flies and for the four of us cost £90 euro's so eat out, so we were glad we hadn't booked inclusive ! The breakfast was ok and the flies had gone. Great for a short travel to disneyland, the kids loved disneyland with bus outside that picks you up and drops you off outside hotel. Taxi's are reasonable and reception staff friendly, beds were made and towls changed and overall our kids had a good holiday. We ventured out of the hotel having a day at the local town Val de europe, were we brought water, crisps ect and paris by catching the train. Overall we had a great time and I'd go again.

Room Tip: I'd pay the extra for a disney themed room to make it more special for children

Little concerned having read some of the reviews but this hotel is fabulous.
People previously comment on state of corridor carpets etc but seriously? Who goes to Disney to look at carpets???
Previously stayed on-site but much prefer this hotel.
Reception staff we had were brilliant, shuttle to and from park very regular (no 54 and very pink!), pool open 0800-2230 so used at some time every day, breakfast ok but a little limited but evening meal the best meal and best value of all holiday.
My only quibble is its quite noisy. Walls quite thin and people a little disrespectful once out of bedrooms with yelling in the corridors early in the morning and late at night. That said, I'd still book again and still prefer over on-site hotels.

If you stay in this hotel, it is probably because you're visiting Disneyland Paris. So did we. We stayed here 4 nights in May when the weather was lovely. But now about the hotel...

It is a big hotel and can be either expensive and not that expensive. You really have to check out sites such as hotelpricematch.com to find out when there is a good deal. We have stayed at many hotels in the area (just not the actual Disney hotels, as they are ridiculously exoensive for what they offer... we have visited all of them though, just never slept there).

This hotel uses the free shuttle that goes to neighbour hotels such Dream Castle (which is the best of the 4), Circus Circus and Kyriad (which most of the times has the best deal and is quite charming but with not so good breakfast and also having the deal without breakfast). The shuttle is really great, you end up at the RER station, which is less walking to the parks then from most other Disney hotels.

The layout of the hotel gave immediate frustration with us. Why? Well, we had a room far way in the back and the elevators are placed throughout the building. And with some elevators you can not get to your level or building. So we had to walk past an elevator, through a hallway and then you end up (without even knowing it) in anothe building (without going outside, you stay inside, you just enter a hallway) at the end of that hallway and there is another elevator. We needed that one. Once you get the feel for it, you memorize it... but we saw most elevators when we were looking for our room.

The room itself is basic. I like a bit ore the charm of the Kyriad. Our room had 4 single beds. And it is okay for sleeping. Nothing special, neither filthy.

The breakfast was quite okay (better than Kyriad and a bit less than DreamCastle hotel). What worked here was how quick they were with refilling everything (in that the Kyriad loses a lot of points, as they are so slow with it... and a lot of eastern europeans seems to stock up croissants for the day at the Kyriad).

This hotel has probably the nicest themed pool compared to its neighbours. But here the hotel proved to be very weird. If you thought you could bring your own swimming outfit... WRONG! They pretend there is a French law that forbids you to swim with certain swimming outfits. So you have to buy an expensive swimming outfit at the hotel. What was even weirder, before this hotel we stayed at the Marriott in Bailly-Romainvilliers and there was no problem with our swimming outfits. So I really wonder about that French law. To me it seemed more like a French way of making money. (Oh yes, you can not take the towels from your room... you have to rent towels at the pool too... for sure there is a French law about that too... that does not apply again to the Marriott) Oh yes... the hotel made money on us and the swimming outfit was bought...

Besides that experience it is an okay hotel if you get a rate for a room that stays under 100 euro. Parking is for free. They have vending machines and dining options (or grabbing a pizza).

Check-in went quick with us.

Dont expect too much from this hotel
It reminded me of going on a school camping trip!
very basic. Its all you need but not quality.
The play area for the kids was smelly.
The teen area was ok.
The "camp quality" breakfast was awful.
We were literally grabbing the food before it got finished.
Be early for breakfast or have scraps. (if you snooze you loose)
Not much choice for vegetarians and the meat was placed next to the fruit and cheeses!
Staff were to a min. only 1-2 serving at reception.
The only bonus was the shuttle bus to and from Disney land which was free and ran every 10-20 min

Room Tip: A room on the same level as the reception was ok.

Booked hotel for 4 nights on the plus side it was convenient to Disney and a free bus was laid on to take guests to and from the resort. On the downside, the hotel was shabby, tired, in need of a makeover, toilet was separate from bathroom and did not have a wash hand facility. On day two I complained about why our room had not been serviced bed made up towels changed etc, as it was 17.30 hours , was told this was normal as new arrivals rooms took priority. This continued for our entire stay. Bars and restaurants closed at 11pm, no guest services provided after this.
