“Great pool and kids play area!”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

We had a good stay at the Explorers hotel. Our almost 3 years old really enjoyed the pool and pirate ship play area. I was grateful for the cheap pizza and drinks. The free Internet and parking were very nice as was the bus ride to the park/train station. The bus ride back gets very crowded around peak times, but they stop at the Explorers hotel first.

I traveled in a group of 6 adults and 6 kids to Explorers hotel 3 weeks ago,at first glance and check in the place looked perfect for what we wanted, lovely reception, the girls who checked us in were very nice. The rooms were basic enough and while the beds looked pretty uncomfortable they were not as bad as they seemed.
The change of heart started on the first night we decided eat in the restaurant,we all sat to eat together but our main courses came out at all separate times, not the end of the world as they were busy, after dinner i went to reception to inquire about wifi and heard another lady who was staying complain to the receptionist about seeing a mouse somewhere in the hotel, when the lady left the receptionist went into the back room and i heard her tell someone in there about it and they proceeded to have a laugh about it.
The second night i witnessed it first hand,a mouse ran through the place where we were eating, calmly ran through under peoples feet towards the kitchen. That finished me eating there for the next 3 days we stayed. It's a disgrace!
The pool was freezing,my 2 year old nephew had to be taken out of it because his lips were purple with the cold, and they really need to enforce a hat wearing policy in the pool, the twice i went into it i got long disgusting hairs wrapped up in my fingers a few times, not pleasant!
One night i went to the toilet in the lobby, there was a guy in there cleaning and he was so ticked off that i went to use the toilet he banged and stomped around letting me know it,my 8 yr old niece came in after me and i was afraid to leave her in there on her own with him as he was so ticked off....we paid to stay here and use the facilities without feeling like we were putting the staff out,put a sign outside the door to inform guests that the toilets are being cleaned instead of subjecting people to angry staff.
The hotel shuttle buses to Disney were a great bonus and the play areas for the kids were great but the bads in this hotel out weight the goods, wouldn't stay there again.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback after your stay at the Explorers Hotel. Comments like yours are always welcome to help us enhance and improve guest satisfaction.

It is a real pleasure to read that you enjoyed the way your group was welcomed by our front office staff as well as the play areas for children, but we are sincerely sorry that the rest of your stay was not up to your expectations. Please accept our apologies about the issue with the mouse. We can guarantee that regular inspections and actions are made to prevent such rodents residing in the surrounding fields from entering the hotel.

Besides, the temperature of the swimming pool can vary from 27 to 30°C, hence we are sorry if you felt it was uncomfortable and dirty despite our best efforts to keep it clean as the water is constantly filtered and the pool cleaned every night.

Thanks again for your constructive review. The whole team would be pleased to welcome you back should you give us the opportunity to improve your opinion about the hotel.

Best Regards,

The hotel was great for the children they loved the play area and pool. However the rooms were a let down, the mattresses and pilloows had no protective covers, the mattressrs were very badly stained and the pillows should have been thrown away long ago.For the amount of money I paid I expected more than paper cups and cheap soap.

Good hotel for kids, the rooms are basic but everything you need is there. The pool is very good, play area too although it needs a good clean but they do get dirty very quickly. Not much themes of the rooms was pretty much non existent for a "disney area" hotel. Breakfast was ok but nothing much to brag about. Free wifi was a plus. Our biggest complain was the transport to the disney parks, it was advertised as every 15 minutes but we waited over 35 minutes for a bus to turn up and its the first stop so you pick up from another three hotels before you go to the parks. Its really quicker to walk!!
All in all it was a good pre disney stay but I wouldn't want to spend my full holiday here.

We arrived at the Explorers Hotel at 10pm on a Friday night. Check in took 5 minutes and our room was on the 5th floor. It was very easy to find. We needed to eat and ordered a large pizza from Marco's pizza that was next to the bar. €11 to feed us 3 was very cheap! The beers were good too!!! The bar area was busy as the childrens soft play area was open till 11pm along with the pool.
The room.
The room was very basic but for what we used it for it was good. We had a double and 2 single beds, drawers, wardrobe, tv, bath/shower, toilet and hairdryer. Once we got to bed the corridors were quiet and there was no noise until at least 8am ( but this is expected with it being a children's hotel).
We had breakfast at the hotel on the 2 days we were there. It can get very manic! We went down at 8 & 9 and it was busy both times. Breakfast was continental, croissants, fruit, ham, cheese etc etc but you can get a cooked breakfast for €4.
The swimming pool was brilliant for children. The quiet times seem to be after 11am and the busy times from 4 pm onwards.
Overall the hotel was good, the Disney shop inside is cheaper than at the park! Also when checking in you are given a voucher that entitles you to free parking at the Disney parks. If you don't use it then expect to be charged €10. I also think you get a discount at Planet Hollywood if you show the voucher/room key. But we didn't eat there so can't say what sort of discount you actually receive.

Stayed during Oct for 2 nights on route to paris centre and overall it's a nice place to stay. However I wouldn't recommend for adults travelling on their own, but its perfect for kids. ( prob because its at Disneyland, duh.. )

There are plenty of facilities for children incl games, pool slides and indoor park. Could do with another pool without the slides for adults to get away from the kids.

The food is ok, buffet style cold food, however no english for breakfast so that let it down for me. Your best of beating the mad rush in the morning by eating before 8am as it get very busy with people eating just before Disneyland opens at 10 and nowhere to sit.

There is only 1 bar to get drinks from which the service is slow, and your lucky if you can get a drink during happy hour with the lack of staff. Too many guest for 1 little bar.
The rooms are clean and again, great for kids, with the marine decor and sailor names. Location to Disneyland is good, with free shuttles running every 45mins, however could do with more shuttles as they can get full during peak times.

I would stay here again if I had kids, great hotel.

Upon arriving at this hotel, we were greeted by a horrible assistant at the check in desk, who seemed content on being not only rude, but also loose in the tounge as he spat as he spoke. The walk up to the room was un assisted, with three young children and a large amount of luggage. The room was basic, smelt and the sheets were extremely suggestive with odd stains and wrinkled sheets which had clearly been re-made rather than cleaned. The bathroom has hairs in the sink and on the floor and had a slight odour left which i suspect was coming from the toilet. The bath had a line of scum around where the previous water line once was, and a razor had been left which had not been picked up. Also there were NO complimentary soaps, much to my youngest son's dismay, and the front desk was very unwilling to help when we requested those along with new clean towels. they asked for a credit card check, so i could PAY for the spare towels. The staff were very stubborn to do little as we tried and fought, eventually giving up on this hope, and moving to my grandmas cramped summer house 17 miles from the park, which cost alot in travel. Upon our leaving, a mad man in the hotel staff uniform began to run after the car and screaming at us in a foregn language followed by a persuit of mice from the kitchen.

Room Tip: Go to my Grandma's summer house!!!!

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review on our hotel. We always use your comments as a way to improve the quality of our service in order to meet and exceed guest satisfaction.

We were very surprised on reading your comments that you found our staff was rude. Good customer service has always been one of our priorities and we would not tolerate such attitude from our front desk team or whoever else from the staff.

Moreover, the condition of your room as you describe it is surely not reflective of what we normally offer in terms of cleanliness and services. Please be assured that the rooms are cleaned on a daily basis and that towels are changed for free whenever you request it. Please accept our apologies if the soap was not reloaded in your room. We can ensure you that our housekeeping team would have been pleased to load the soap dispenser should you have asked for it.

Once again, your descriptions don’t reflect our standards, especially in terms of staff attitude and cleanliness. The entire team would like to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for a better experience.
