Came to view, eat and drink with friends to look at the sights and read up on a bit more history.. the weather was tonk at first and brightened up whilst there.. seals on the middle island and ferries/shipping on the horizon.. a sailing yacht also shot through the Sound whilst there. Food wise - don't expect massive potion sizes for your money, but otherwise the ingredients were fresh and cooked as expected. Nice Latte Macchiato.

The Sound on the Southern tip of the Isle of Man is a very pretty spot (when the weather is pleasant as it was when we were there in July) with stunning views of the Calf of Man and Thousla Rock. As well as stunning views of the Sound you'll also find 'The Thousla Cross', in the form of a cross of Lorraine, which is the memorial commemorating an act of heroism by men from The Howe and Port St Mary who, at great risk to themselves, rescued some the crew of the French vessel "Jeune St Charles" from certain death in the treacherous waters of The Sound on the morning of 8th April 1858 in stormy seas. You can also see plenty of wildlife at The Sound, including seals and seabirds. The Sound Cafe is also a fabulous place to sit and refuel after a walk along the coast... See my separate review and pictures. Well worth a visit.

Walked in from Port Erin and sat happily eating a crab sandwich watching a family of seals including a pup basking on the rocks below in the sun:)

The location is key, the café/restaurant is clean, well run with a lovely selection of goodies. Well worth the trip to the South of the island. The chocolate brownies are to die for..
