“Gorgeous rooms, heavenly beds!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2010

The guest rooms that we stayed in were gorgeous and well appointed. Great views of the bay and the city. Short walk to Senado Square and easy access to taxis and buses. Staff is very helpful and extremely pleasant. Hated the fact that if you want extra towels, you'll have to be charged for it.

This is a great Sofitel. First of all, my A-Club Gold status, granted us a room upgrade; always nice. Second of hall, sure there is a casino, but this hotel is not flashing it everywhere. So the atmosphere is more relaxed than in the other hotel and casino resorts around. The location is also good. Far away from the pier (we came by boat from Hong Kong), but close to the old city, making it a prime for culture tourists. Service was good, the room large, clean and comfy. Great stuff!

Stayed there for 3 nights. Checked in about 2pm. The rooms were nice, spacious, and clean. Bathroom was nice and clean and had high class ammenities. Staff were very helpful and tried their best to solve any problems or questions we had. House keeping staff were efficent and quick. Cleaned my room twice a day. Buffetbreakfast was nice with a wide selection of food.

The casino however was more to the locals then to the guests. I beleive guests prefered going to bigger casinos. In addition, the casino was like a gas chamber of smokers. I hate the smell! Anyway, almost all the hotels in macau smell like this anyway. On the bright side, the bet limits are low so you can last longer in here than the high betting casinos.

Location: Excellent.... Only 5-10 minute walk to Senado Square. (Lots of shopping stores there) 10-15 minute walk to the ruins of St. Paul. Further down you can also take a 15- 20 minute walk to Yaohan Department Store or Lisboa Casino. Ah ma temple is only 5 minute taxi ride away.

We enjoyed our stay there alot and looking foward to coming back very soon. Two thumbs up!

Located in the old waterfront area, a shabby area but within walking of the interesting old town area of Macau. Hotel has all the bells and whistles of a 5 star hotel. As other have said the casino is not right in your face. The only free internet I could find was free wifi in the restaurant on the 6th floor otherwise I guess it was mega buck for a daily plan. Great breakfast buffet

Just stayed at the Sofitel for 1 night on our visit to Macau. The free shuttle from the terminal was very useful and a less than 10 minute ride to the hotel. On arrival the staff were excellent, so friendly. We stayed in a luxury room with river views and views of the back of the Lisboa up the road. The beds are immaculate....ahhhh Sofitel beds are the beds! great night sleep.. although did wake up to a noisy couple at 3am next door.. all good.. it didn't last for long :P
Bathroom was beautiful.. with clear glass seperating the bathroom and bedroom, flat screen Tv that you can watch in the bath! wow!
Breakfast was beautiful... great orange juice. The pulpy kind.
The location is ok, as we walked around town and to the other casinos.
Highly recommend!

I like the location, as it is walking distance to many interesting places. We booked a City view hotel, but was assigned a Seaview without extra charge. Nothing to complain about, except maybe one thing, no shuttle bus to airport (hopefully I am not being too demanding). However, their friendly staff were fast and helpful in arranging taxi for you.

We decided to go to Macau for my husbands 30th birthday we stayed 1 night in the Sofitel and cannot find one complaint.
A beautiful hotel with with helpful staff, great location right on the river and walking distance to main sights like St Pauls Cathederal and other hotels like Grand Lisboa and MGM. The hotel has a complimentary shuttle bus from the ferry terminal which is convienient. The hotel has it's own casino which has lower minimun bets than other hotels, and as my husband and I are not big gamblers this was a way for us to afford to have a laugh trying to play Blackjack.
The hotel pool is beautiful, and very peacful, we enjoyed relaxing on the comfortable sun loungers.
We booked a superior room, which was lovely, very modern with a huge comfortable bed, have to say I like the L’Occitane toiletries which are a nice touch!
In the morning we ordered 2x American breakfasts to the room which came dot on time, it was extremely good value at roughly HKD160 pp including a huge fruit platter, pastries, cereal and cooked breakfast with fresh juice and tea and coffee, far too much food but was exceptinal.
The hotel It has a 4.5 star rating which I feel it fully deserves, we had a lovely stay and will definately go back.
